E3: Images of Borderlands

2KGames and Gearbox Software has at least a couple of images from Borderlands to show, no trailer in sight yet though.
Update: The teaser posted was a bit old.

I have high hopes for this game, but I agree... the graphics look horrible in these screens.

Hopefully it's just a bad batch.

I think it looks fine, and it probably looks a lot better moving. People have way too high of expectations for graphics this generation.

Pictures did not do it for me... I have to see this in motion.
Anyhow I have high hopes for this after the exciting teaser trailer we've seen.

its 500,000 different guns but i think i heard that you fix up your guns and their is 500,000 different combinations for all guns all together

You are right, there aren't that many weapons in the game, only the possibility of combinations of pieces is about 500 000. But if that is your sales pitch for a game? The screenshots are really ugly. Gearbox has already downgraded the graphics for BIA: hell's highway, now this? What are they doing over there. Never really liked that Randy Pitchford 'that happened because it was awesome'.

I agree that it doesn't look that bad and there might be a certain trade off in terms of scale, but when looking at games like Mirrors Edge...I don't think people's expectations are that unreasonable.

I mean, I still can't believe that what we're seeing of Mirrors Edge is actually ingame...I wouldn't have believed this would be possible on the PS3 and 360 two or three years ago, but it is...and I don't expect this is the best we'll be seeing yet...

Concerning this game...I don't expect to see it before 2020 going by Gearbox's reputation...Looks mighty interesting though!

There is a gameplay demonstration at IGN if you're interested. It certainly looks much better in motion and looks interesting...except for the aiming which lacks any sense of accuracy.

The video over at IGN was rather dark. I guess it looks alright, but I don't have any plans on picking it up. From what I could see, it does in fact look better in motion. Then again, most games do.

Cheers. Well it looks a lot better than these screenshots suggest. It looks pretty good overall, and there aren't an awful lot of FPS RPG games out. However, i'm not a huge fan of vehicle combat so I probably wouldn't pick this up.

Looked pretty cool though.

it actually doesnt look bad, sort of what too human would be like if it was a FPS and actually good...lol. im sure its nice for the devs to be able to say they have the most weapons in a game ever thanks to their procedurally generated 500,000+ guns...but honestly, i'd rather have a handfull of well designed, usefull weapons, then hundreds of thousands of pointless ones.

I dunno that they showed actual stuff, it was a CG trailer so yeah, and the rest was just target render stuff. and it looks really quite good.

The teaser/trailer caught my attention, but after watching the gameplay video that beanbagman posted, I am quite interested in this game. If the GAMEPLAY is worthwhile, then I don't give a shit about the GRAPHICS...just as long as it doesn't look like something from 1999.

I am definitely going to keep a close eye on this one.
