Xbox 360

The demo of Tales of Vesperia is available on the Japanese marketplace since a few hours, and I found some time to record a first video. Enough to listen to very average English dub, and see how busy visually the fights can be even at this low level.

I've read it was crap, and so was the English voice acting. They better include a Japanese voice option, since it's so much better. And there are no cut-scenes whatsoever in the demo.

Haven't checked it out though :).

Typical JRPG voice acting, if you were able to put up with countless other JPRGs with English dubs then it shouldn't matter too much. Looks quite pretty though.

Its ok thus far, they didnt put much for you to explore as far as the type of moves and items depth wise into the demo. Game seems fun none the less, all tho the way the fight just all the sudden end irks me some.lol.

The only thing that bothered me from the video was the circus style music during the dialogue

Voice acting is fine IMO, its well done just very ... "American cartoonish" as are all Tales of games, its one of those things you get used to from the franchise.

And omg its a next gen version of TOS ^^ the battle engine looked pretty good so im happy about that.

Hopefully the story line is just as good as TOS was because that game was awesome.

What the hell, I didnt understand how the combat was working ??? It's different from Eternal Sonata no ? it's like you were controlling only one character

Jolli, Can you explain plz ?

Me too, but frankly, I can't understand what the people are complaining about. This looks just like I expected it to from the screens and trailers we've seen so far.

You control one character, and set the others abilities and AI in the menu system.

From pervious TO games you get a set amount of AP points which you can allocate to spells (the more you use the spell the more experience you get and unlock new higher versions of that spells)

In TOS you could change the character you controlled so you could be melee, healer or blackmage, not sure if you can play as the dog (that would be kind of kool though)

After watching this video more im getting a strong TOS vibe (its the same team i believe) and I really can't wait.

It may not look as pretty as Trusty Bell, but I am betting it will make that game look like trash, I thought Trusty Bell/Eternal Sonata was a huge let down personally.

There is a discription of TOS's battle system on this wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_Symphonia

Whens the next video coming Blim i need to see more >.>

The voice acting was like a saturday morning cartoon,..it fits perfectly well considering it also looks like one. Some people dont mind whimsy and comical things like this, it doesnt have to be dead serious with movie qulity voice acting. I liked the combat, it was pretty smooth ran at 60FPS. didnt quite get the hang of the mechanics yet but i will, gotta get that boss, he kicked my ass in no time :P

Better hurry up and get it before MS blocks everyone out again, though I'm not expecting much. This series has never been known for innovation

A game doesn't have to innovate if your a fan of the series though.

3D battle field is one innovation at least.

Karol is annoying, but the game is exactly what i expected. It has fluid, and same great gameplay as before, can't ask for more if this is supposed to be just good enough.

the 3D battlefield part is nothing new with this game in this series, I saw no new things with the fighting system yet so far from the previous games.

But most tales of games the battle system slowly forms, it start slow with just the basic and halfway in the game you got pretty much it all so it's very possible the fighting system is much deeper later on in the game taking account the previous games.

But whats unique in this game series is just pretty much the fighting system, and hence it's what I like and the reason why I like the series. Couldn't care less for innovative, as long as the story is decent and engaging.

I don't like the music they used when they encounter that flower at the end of the demo. It sounds like the circus is coming to town or something. Also I thought Yuri was a girl from the screenshots, then he started talking in this video. Yuck. Anyways the dialogue is a bit cheesy. Voice acting isn't bad, it's just like Tales of Symphonia. Graphics is a slight upgrade from Symphonia as well. I was hoping it'd look better. But maybe it looks better if I see it in person in 1080p. Overall I'm probably gonna pass on this. It seems like your average RPG, will probably get an 80-90% review ratings. Maybe if it gets really good review once it's released I'll buy it. I think it's definitely the weakest out of the other 3-4 RPG titles Microsoft announced a week ago.

I really enjoyed the battles in this. I'm not going to judge the whole game on a little filler forest section though... they really should have put more effort into the demo.

looks decent visually...i dont see why there would be much complaining about that..its basically taking what the previous Tales game should have looked like (the cinemas were animated right?) and making that the in-game visual style. Tales of Symphonia was not cel shaded is what i saw was correct. Playing the game really just reminded me of eternal sonata, it seemed similar enough and i enjoyed that game, so ill see what happens later on when it nears release but as of right now im interested.
