Xbox 360

Epic and Microsoft drop the bomb and release the first gameplay video of Gears of War 2. Two minutes of extreme violence and fire, for what appears to be an explosive hyperbole of the first title. Visually, it looks stunning.

No Megido, PS3's most of the games right from the start does not show big tendency towards total scripted stuff. Gears 1 had very little interaction with the environments. If a building broke, it did due to a script, far away in the background. Big monsters hurled at you in prefixed animations and you only had to avoid 'em. Being only 6 hours and filled with lots of mere scripts couldn't take it down for it was supported by the press and fuelled by fanboys of the likes of you who in a second throw flames at PS3.

Lair, maybe rubbish in controls, had fully changing world based on players decisions, from giant enemies to huge oceans to gzillions of those onscreen NPCs. Motorstorm, Ratchet, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword had all actions fully interactive with chokeful of animations.

Huge and 'traceable' world in KillZone2 just can't be compared with gears1 and 2 which in your own words has only environment 'decoration' instead of actual interactivity. Very little environment was maneavurable in gow1, lets see how much is now in gow2 with pretty ongoings and much less controllable. Not a single game on 360 has ever shown that, being a judgement for you who says that this plain scripted action is not possible on PS3.

I had to say all that for you got angry and stuff.

I prefered bioshock and halo 3 to gears of war. But it really didn't have anything to do with the graphics. Gears was just a bit short and not enough happened in the single player. The online was ok my flatmate is still never off it, but it never gripped me all that much.

But am I still going to get gears of war 2? Of course I would be mad not to. Im not really excited like I am for ninja gaiden 2 but I have no doubt it will be an amazing game.

Edit: farooq your clutching at straws thier mate, heavenly sword?

You have not played KZ2 nor GoW2 and you can already tell that the first il huge and open et not the second ? What I saw in the killzone demo was not a huge world at all, a semblance of battlefield but not wide open at all, and maybe 15 people fighting at the same time, not really like a battlefield to me, Color palette in KZ2 is not higher too. We'll see when the too games release which one will have the best scores.

Not very impressed. It looks like an expansion of the first game, not a sequel. I think scripted events are more suited for story-driven games and this franchise has none. GoW has always impressed me with it's tech and gore. Now where's my meat cube?

Omg, I actually want to cry.

That just looked so .... beautiful. Everything that was going on was just brilliant, and it looked like a full scale battle. Hugely intense, and some brilliant things going on. The locust shield was just, wow.

GOTY!

Original KZ2 demo shown last year showed a full city fully made, complete with hanging city wires, and waving with true air physics. Just check the details on every citics's blog, it was not a background, it was a fully realized world. The demo this year shows much more improvements and more colour work. From KZ1 we all know that the team covers each environment, from jungles to deserts to glaciers to outerspace and especially urban... and as everything shown in these years have been real-time, you shouldn't be doubting then.

What this demo shows here of gears2, is a huge vehicle from where you shoot flying locusts, then a monster and then ram him down. I say, judging from the last gears(gow1), we just saw a whole stage... yeah, from start to end. Its not just part of a huge stage, its a whole stage as it is. Such small and basic stages in gears1 just pumped up with beautiful background graphics made up the whole game. Lets see if that's not the case again!!!

Like i've said on another forum, having seen both gameplay videos (Gears of war 2 and Killzone 2) I know which one looks better overall. And, FYI, it ain't Killzone 2.

To me, it looked a bit dull graphics wise in terms of colour. How anyone can say it has a better pallette is beyond me. And to say more things are going on at once in Killzone 2, what have you been taking?

This is shaping up to be one heck of a game.

False, it was just background, just like the first level flyby in GRAW, don't think you'll be able to go everywhere you want in that city, if you want a giant free roaming city just go play GTA IV.

I'll just be the immature and flaming cavetroll by saying Gears2 and Killzone2 are gonna be the most spectacular awesome games for their respective platforms in the foreseeable future.

Strike me down for such nonsense for it is clearly not the truth! In times like these debating who has the bigger e-penis clearly has the utmost priority.

Well, no matter what any one says about the graphics, the gameplay will *imo* with great likeliness blow KZ2 right out of the water.

Also farooq: who needs gt5 later when foza 2 has been out for months? Or even better; GTR for pc if you want sim.

English is not my first or second language and I have a problem with that.

You call that hype defense mode? I didn't even try, and yet you got that conclusion off the bat.

Heres and idea, you leave me alone and our problems will be solved.
Everytime me and you are into a conversation it always ends up like this, for the most part anyways.

Don't quote or comment back to me and I can assure you that this type of "conflict" won't happen. Surely you can manage that.

And I don't want to continue this conversation.

I have compared the hi-res magazine shots to snippet shown here and they look similar, so if the other sections and levels shown in the GI magazine scans also look similar in motion then we are all in for a visual and gameplay treat when its shown. I thought the snippet shown in this trailer was just amazing, its so blatantly better in every department than GOW1, all the little touches come together to make it better by far.

But you are not able to walk around and go shopping in this town. It’s 3D yes but it is still background. There are walls everywhere that stop you from leaving a predefined path. I flew with a helicopter shooting on people down in a “fully realized city” in CoD4 or GRAW as well so what does it proof? - Nothing, CoD4 level boundaries were tight, GRAW not so tight but still there.
From what I have seen in all Killzone 2 gameplay videos it will be much like CoD4 or GRAW and nothing like GTA4 for example.
And I like CoD4 and GRAW very much but you are just talking bullshit.

Dimmit I just really replied to him again…

Agreed, dc.

How can some people have the nerve to say it doesn't look better than the first and they haven't added anything worthwhile? Pure ignorance on their part.

It's just been improved in so many ways, and I feel that this is going to be one of the games of the year for sure. Simply because the first one was brilliant, but this is just on a whole other level.

EDIT: I'm just downloading the video on my 360 so I can view it on my HDTV :) If I thought it looked breathtaking on the computer screen, I bet I ain't seen nothing yet.

There is no innovative gameplay in gears as it stands at all. They're just taking up Resident Evil 4's camera style, every other shooters shooting and small scale interactions with under 4 NPCs and calling it a day heeheehee.

Heh, With graphical glitch-fested Forza 2, having half as many cars as GT5 and especially half as much beauty as GT5, EVERYONE NEEDS GT5. Also, car damage is approaching in GT5 as well so, Forza2 or PGR, whatever you say are obsolete if you take the right word.

Even the game's demo(GT5:P) have sold 2.5 million alone, and you're saying who needs it? Hahaha, you're just showing hate for PS3 again, that's all...
