PS3

It looks like our coverage of the Gamer's Day is now done, so we decided to reencode our Killzone 2 footage with the best quality possible. Full 720p resolution and better deinterlacing/deblending helps quite a bit to see the little details everywhere. I'm sure the numerous fans of the game will be pleased!

yup, i'm definitely pleased with the quality(although yesterday's quality wasn't all that bad to begin with, only a video junkie like myself might notice the difference), KZ2 is gonna kick ass.

Killzone 2 and Resistance 2, the FPS games on PS3 I am waiting for!

Looks awesome, but I can't wait for some real direct feed HD footage, really mind blowing.

And all this is in pre-alpha and in its early stage it looks this great so I can't wait to see how it looks later in the year.

lol 00:27sec missle blows up pretty much right next to you. Other than looking ridiculously easy (dont know if that was intended) visually it looks stunning, warehouse lighting was superb.

So far from most of the vids I've seen on this game, it's almost as if the game is on super easy or god mode's on.

Of course the AI isn't gonna be there as you expect and it is gonna be easy.

Pre-alpha code...read on the screen.

Pre-alpha code...people throw around that term alot here. Pre-alpha or not it was playable.

They're in "god mode". I don't believe I've seen ANY video game that's been in progress show the character be killed. Not exactly the best way to demo a game if you keep on dieing.

While its pretty and all, ill wait for its actual release before becoming excited. I was burnt by the first KZ game, which was horrible at best.

Now Resistance 2, thats a game Im looking forward to since the first one was so fun.(when I could actually connect to games online, since the PSN seems to hate me with a passion)

It looks great. I have to admit I used to be very anti-Killzone but the game keeps impressing me everytime I see something new. The light effects are very refreshing from the overal gray tones in the game.

Is it possible for a game to be uglier than Gears of War? Killzone 2 likes to think so.

I don't think you have to be in god mode when most of your enemy doesn't even turn at you to fire at you, even while you plug them with bullets

Do any of you people even consider the fact that they're already busy trading fire with the ally NPC's? This is a war after all.

Looks like baked lighting on the most part to me (God-Rays in the warehouse for example), but effective. Certainly nowhere near the target footage in many areas though.

Still don't grasp the 'pre-alpha' term. Alpha is the first letter in the greek alphabet - what the hell comes before number 1? It seems 'pre-alpha' is just a term thrown around for the hell of it these days.

Yes - but if you were in a war, in a firefight and getting shot at from a different direction, would you COMPLETELY ignore it, just so you can kill someone else? No. You find suitable cover.

Do you even consider that YOU are the one playing the game and the NPC's shouldn't matter as much as the player experiencing the game?

and do what? hide there untill your inevitable death. i think you'd want to at least take someone down with you. hiding behind a wall isnt going to get you anywhere if your pinned down by fire.

as for the term alpha. its just the stages in a games development cycle.

alpha (very early, often using placeholder textures and having unfinished sections, animations missing, placeholder weapons, usually unoptimised and unstable...crashes often)

beta (more or less finished but with bugs, glitches to be ironed out, perfectly playable and usually a very stable build...hence why its at this point devs allow public testing to take place)

gold (game is finished and gets put into production)

this game however is before all of that. what they essentially have is a very unfinished game. they may have poilished this level to a adequate level for demo purposes, but the rest of the game and the code in general will probably be very unfinished. code may need optimising (still stutters on loading) etc etc. so while this level on its own, much like the one demo's before may look complete and playable. as a whole game. it'll be far from it.
