Not a lot different from TS2 I guess.. I'm in doubt if it's worth buying this game when you already own TS2?

Are you serious?

Those are some of the most realistic bodies I have probably seen in a video game. Not to mention the dramatic stances in these screenshots look insanely realistic

Doesn't look too great graphically to me, I've seen lots of games with more realistic faces / bodies...

I don't care much for the gameplay in Tennis games anyways.

The clothes, hair and faces are just..... INSANELY good..
Look at the cloth and face in the first picture. Look at the ponytail in the last picture. Surpasses anything i've seen before..

But its sad that games STILL havent reached the point where faces can deliver the same "essence" of a person, be it personality or expressions.
I'm a big Sharapova fan, but it doesnt look like her in that picture (pic 7) :( :(

But what i cant understand is how some of you can say it looks bad..
Do you need glasses, or a better computer monitor?

Well, it's only 'bad' compared to other games, IMO. Call of Duty 4, The Darkness, Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan, MLB08, Rockstar's Table Tennis, DMC4, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, and Uncharted all give off a better impression, perhaps not for details in some of those examples, but for other things down the the shape of the faces, to the eyes not being glazed over like they are in this game, to the shadowing and lighting.

To really sell the 'essence' of a person we're really truly going to need WAY more graphics and processing power. Stuff like SSS (faked at least), ambient occlusion, high quality shadow mapping, extremely high resolution textures and skin shaders, and more are all going to be needed to make an absolutely convincing human being. You're also going to have to have killer animation, or perhaps some dynamic physics-based animating system that can simulate skin and muscle moving around bones, because that's really a big factor too.

Oh wow, they've got Roland Garros in the game! That's a nice start. And Henin looks robotic like. Scary stuff.

What is with the soft glow they're putting on all these games these days? Is that their version of a bloom effect? Because it's only making games look shittier.

Well, except for the dead eyes, Henin's spot on. Game looks pretty decent actually. The animations could turn out pretty good, it seems like the whole body acts realistically, judging from the stances. Some nice variety there atleast.

Online in this game will probably be awfull again. Hardly anyone playing the game and if you meet up against someone, it pretty much comes down to whoever can perform the most risk-shots, wins. :|

SP should be enjoyable. They just need to add some commentary and better atmospherics in terms of crowds and sounds (random chanting, noises, talking etc).

I'm not talking about the shadermagic and polygon subdivisions, im talking about what makes us see another human being as a real human.
The expressions in the face!
Sub-surface scattering can make a finger or ear/nose look über-realistic, but the face will still be a flat empty android-looking thing.
If someone stumbled upon the correct expressions, or facial animations or whatever, it could be done with as little gfx power as The Sims 2 for example.

Half-Life 2 had pretty good facial stuff, but still too primitive to be life-like.
So far imo the best so far (in real-time) is in that Heavy Rain tech demo, then again they motion-captured an acresses face. Maby thats whats needed?

Heavenly Sword has the best faces and facial animations/expressions of any game I've ever seen, by quite some distance. Observe:
http://images.gamersyde.com/gallery/public/5442/64...

And watch this if you haven't played it: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23164.html

It sets the bar for realistic people. Such a shame it was so short and repetitive.

Damn, just watched the gameplay footage at IGN and I must say, the lighting is spectacular! The animation transitions are pretty horrible (though the animations themselves are very nice), but graphically...WOW!
