Xbox 360 PS3 Wii PS2

They were singing "Dream On". Now, they will be in one of the most popular videogames. Yes, another musical game is in preparation, called Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the PS2, PS3, Wii and X360. The famous rock'n'roll american band will be a signifiant milestone in the successful series story next June. Click for more details.

Aerosmith has been chosen among many other bands for its rich and varied musical catalog. Don't think this game is just "a musical game with specific songs on a disc to make more cash out of the Guitar Hero cow", but a chance to live the career of this quintuplet, with its historical moments. There's even the possibility to play some of the songs that inspired Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer. What does that mean exactly, that's a good question. To celebrate this announcement, Activision will offer a free download of the masterpiece song "Dream On" (Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock) on the Xbox Live Marketplace from February 16-18. I think many guitars will rock on!

Unfortunately, that's exactly what it is.

I think i'll just stick to GHIII Legends of Rock (:

There were GH2 spin offs too, you know.. at least one with the 80's game that only appeared on PS2.

Yes, and that too was utterly horrible. I'm not all to happy with GH3 either to be honest. GH2 is the best part of the series, if you ask me.

And 80s rock and metal is still a better concept than...Aerosmith :P

I have to disagree with you on that one. Aside from the bothersome boss-battles in GH3, I'd have to say it's pretty much superior to GH2 in every way. GH2 loses a million points alone on the HORRID covers.

I wouldn't necessarily listen to the music in 3 more than 2, but a lot of the songs are simply great fun to play. ...although I have to express my full-blown, unadulterated HATE for the Sonic Youth song; it was aural rape from start to finish.

GH: Aerosmith would be a decent $20 pick-up for Aerosmith fans I suppose. I enjoy their music, but a whole game of one band could get pretty tired. The GH series certainly isn't dead to me because they chose to do this though... that'd be silly.

Ronsauce: I can agree that the covers weren't brilliant in GH2, but i much prefer the songs in GH2 compared to the ones in GH3. Also i think the button sequences were better in GH2. Another thing with gh3 that sucks is the difficulty. It's a stroll in the park until you hit the Slayer tune and then it's a goddamn dead end. Also they removed my favorite character :P GH3 wasn't BAD, i just liked GH2 more.

They've been heading down this road for a while now. I'm sorta happy for Activision, but it would be hard to deny that they're milking their most successful franchises.

Well that's just because Aerosmith sucks :P

But, it is :)
Making sure they earn back the $$ they spent on the Guitar Hero licence.
Its disgusting.

I don't quite get the hate surrounding this game. GH doesn't suffer the same affliction as most other "milked" titles; it doesn't need updated gameplay or story or graphics, but rather, it needs to be more of the same with different songs. It seems that's what this is. Also, holy shit that a business wants to make money! I've never heard tell of such a thing.

Is it that some of you would rather just pay for 3-song packs instead of buying a whole game... as if you're somehow forced to buy the game...lest your lives be incomplete because you can't pretend to play Dude Looks Like a Lady?

Megido: Song choices don't mean much to me when they sound terrible though. My absolute favourite band had a song in GH2, but I don't enjoy playing it one bit because of how butchered it is. I also find the starred notes harder to see in GH2, and the little jolt that occurs when you activate star power is distracting. Note placement must be subjective, because I definitely find 3 does a better job. I do agree that the difficulty ramps up a bit too quickly though...to the point of frustration.

so i guess those rumors about there being a guitar hero game focused on aerosmith was true. it was in an article awhile back (couple of months ago i think) that i read off some website. aerosmith said they were working closely with the developers on there new guitar hero project. i just assumed it was guitar hero III and he mistaken it for another game but i see this is it. not so great because i was hoping for different variety of songs instead of a single band playing all there greatest hits. thats very risky to focus on one band instead of many bands as not many people like aerosmith (they're a good band but i find this will get boring after a bit). hopefully they will add enough of those "inspiration" songs to keep this game fun.

Also, holy shit that a business wants to make money! I've never heard tell of such a thing.
Music, movies and games are supposed to be an artform, not merchandize.
Now, i dont know if you like art being turned into shit, but i dont.

Obviously any company needs profit to survive. But when the quest for money overshadows the quest to do something new or well, its changed from art to merchandize. (Absolute Music 29482, Aliens VS Predator 16, etc)

So i reserve the right to complain when a music/movie/game company puts $ in front of the artform, thank you.
