PS3

Our friends over at Gaming-Age asked us to host a long Metal Gear Solid 4 gameplay video for them, and we gladly complied of course. This was filmed during the CES a few weeks ago, and is definitely not the way the game should be played!
Check out their CES report too!

Getting a bit tired of this area, I really wanna see something different. Also I'm not sure they got the balance between resources for Snake and resources for the environment right, he looks like he is from a different game against some of those textures.

hence the reason you can take on the textures in the environment.

game looks great tho, AI doesnt look amazing, but no better or worse then most other games i've played. and by the looks of things plus the amount of rations the guy has, it seems to be on easy anyway.

i seriously cant wait. couple months and we'll be playing this bad boy.

as for the environments im glad they're not showing much. i know more then enough from written articles about how the game will return to alaska so i really dont want to see anything of that part of the game. why spoil it.

I thought the environement looked great and the textures was great as well.
Like this place http://images.gamersyde.com/gallery/public/7414/89...

No that this is not direct feed image nor is the videos.

You have to see it runing infront of you on a PS3 with HDTV to appreciate it.

I for one haven't seen these new gameplays like the way I just mentioned, but I will soon.

One thing I don't like about the game, and its just a VERY small thing.

But I don't like games in general like these covert ops, military type games, when they are talking in a headset type thing, they put their finger next to the ear, but there is no headset, so it looks like they are using jedi mind tricks to communicate.

The level of detail and accurate stuff Hideo does for his games, I don't understand why they haven't added a earpiece stuff for Snake so he doesn't look stupid when he puts his fingers next to his ear.

Gears had this problem as well, I was annoyed by that :S

Anyway, good see a english version of the game being played!

PS. I miss Snake with his famous beard. Couldn't they just pull a Sean Connery by going with white beard, looks bad ass then :P

Awesome look!

the earpiece is a cochlear implant. hence the reason you cant see it. it allows low volume communications preventing the enemy from hearing. or so i remember. something like that anyway. im sure its actually explained in MGS on the psone.

I didn't know about this one, but when you mentioned it, I searched around and he has a raido com implanted, cool :D

I know in MGS3 he had it. Because its unlike Hideo that he misses with detail and such with weapon and gear.

Ah well, I don't have any problems now :)

its not like that in MGS1/2 or 4 (its a cochlear implant in those games). the reason its visible in MGS3 is becasue it was set in the past, tech hadnt reached micro technology then, hence why there is no radar in MGS3. only that low frequency sonar gadget that sucked balls.

I know, the timeline is 3,1,2,4.

But I didn't know much about gear, and gaming stuff when I played MGS1 and 2 back in the day.

But now that I know, I started thinking why it was the way it was.

Looks great, I hope that rumored demo does come in Feb, because I'd like to play something while I wait.

I'm actually a little tired of seeing this same area too, I hope there's a fair amount of variety in the game.

Looks worst than Lost Planet. Retarded AI, levels broken off into smaller areas just like the PS2 MGS games....

yeah I dunno

AI has never been MGS's strong point, there are no doubt difficult settings and im sure this guy had it on easy so he didn't look like a noob and get his ass handed to him, he didn't seem to be doing a very good job of being stelthy.

the one thing i liked about this is the fact that u can play it like a shooter unlike the other MGS gams where u only kill the enemy as a last resort but now with the (no offence MGS fans) stupid AI it wont be as fun. still a great stealth game and i will get this when i manage to get a ps3

Yea but its not meant to be a "shooter" (Otacon said don't fight unless you need to) so why would you play it as one, we have enough shooters on the market as it.

Of cource it has been downgraded, but that is if you compare to the pretty uptouched first Trailer they released, the colors, snakes hair, body textures, face textures.

But after that trailer the level of graphic has been the same and I for one love it. Don't care about the low res textures and the edgy enviroment, just love the stile of the design.

I think Microsoft has taken EXTREMELY good decision this generation, while Sony wastes money to keep this exclusive, Microsoft Games wisely invested in Splinter Cell Conviction which is likely beat MGS4 in every category.

SCC already has superior graphics and lighting, better AI, looks like a more fun to play.

Doom_Bringer has kind of a point, though.

It seems like MGS4 is getting worse and worse as other games are shown. Graphically it's not impressive, and the gameplay doesn't seem to be any different than the other games in the series.

Thats your opinion, personally I think SC fails to compare to MGS.

How anyone can say this is graphically unimpressive is just bizarre, sounds a bit fanboyish to me, the gameplay has changed quite a bit, this game is much more TPS oriented than the other games, but other than that why should they change it when they know what their fans want and expect.
