Last minute change! The embargo for Assassin's Creed has been lifted here in Europe too. By chance I had already 2 videos uploaded, so here they are. At Ubisoft's request I'm not showing the real beginning of the game. If you know what happens, please don't spoil the surprise for the others! More videos, including from the PS3 version, and our impressions will follow later today and tomorrow.
Update: Third part available.
Update 2: Added a very short but still interesting video comparison of the 360 and PS3 versions. Thanks to TTP for the PS3 part :)
Update 3: Fourth and likely last video of the 360 version is up. Let me know if you want to see a video of what happens in the city.
Update 6: The PS3 video is back, this time with the right framerate. Again sorry about that.
Update 7: Since some people have claimed that the retail PS3 version ran far better than the review one, I went and bought it to make sure I didn't unfairly compare both versions. So I've done another comparison video, and you'll notice that the end result is still the same. I'm eagerly awaiting some people arguing that my PS3 is either broken, my capture hardware is buggy, or I've simply cheated the video so the 360 version looked better.

I honestly enjoyed the game and will most certainly go back and redo all of the missions.
Like metroid and Bioshock this game is an experience to be had.
Don't pin your hopes on Uncharted: Drake's Fortune... I have played through about 70% of the game... while I enjoyed some of the levels there's no way this game can top Assassin's Creed in my opinion. Uncharted does get dull as all you do is shoot, cover and fight your way through hordes of pirates!!!! There's no sense of adventure or exploration. If that's the juice for you than by all means go buy it!
I don't know, I'm just a bit disorientated at the moment.
Really don't know what to believe, what to think.... It's sad...
Have to sleep a few nights, and make a choice *lol*
It's even funnier when you notice that the IGN comparison pictures look *exactly* the same as mine.
The only mistake we did is with the long PS3 video that had a framerate issue due to an error during the encoding. We promptly fixed that and apologized.
The comparison video is 100% valid, and was done as it should have been done.
Ha well, you pissed me off, hopefully a one week vacation will make you understand that we have nothing to win in the long term by putting the PS3 in a bad light.
you know as every other PS3 owner that AC does NOT look like your comparison shots. all it would take would be a little recalibration of your videograb equipment so that the gamma level would be accurate.
I'm not saying you make the PS3 look bad on purpose - you could just mention that the gamma or contrast level is not accurate in the videos, thats all...
just stay cool and accept some critics man...

And no, the gamma level is perfectly accurate, thank you very much for your concern.

Oh wait... some of you want to play it on your PS3's this fall, oh well, I guess Ubisoft just sucks.
On another note: You said there would be some impressions to follow the videos. Can we expect a short GSD soon? That would be awesome since I'm and I believe many others are not shure whenever it's worth a buy or not. And GS-reviews are allways very good, without the rating, just talking about the games strengths and weaknesses. Kind regards. :)
Seriously guys wake up, just because you can't see it yourselves doesn't make it any less true.
I have 10 days to return it i I want to, I am very unsure if I should go with the Ps3 version because its much more quite.
I have been hearing that the PS3 is having framrate and looks inferior, but what I have seen from side by side DIRECT FEED both is running the same, meaning some places on each version will have problems.
The Ps3 is a bit more lighter, but there is nothing gamma cant do.
Anyone with a Ps3 version that can tell me if it is smooth in terms of animation, cutscenes...etc. I would understand the big showcase on each tower you want to scan, but besides that.
Achievements are nothing to me anyways, and in terms of control, PS3 is the one I am more comfortable with when its not FPS.
The saddest thing about Assassin's Creed to me, is that now that it is less than jawesome 9 - 10 material, it is going to be squeezed out of my Xmas playlist, will have to wait until the quiet spell in the new year. The barrage of AAA games this season is insane.
His PS3 is also broken by the way. Here is a picture I took when I snuck into his apartment on my way to Damascus.

I'll be picking this one up for the XBOX 360 once it becomes available.
Oh and the LE artbook is fantastic.
I really wish the ps3 was the lead platform for at least this game, oh well.
Just accept the truth.
It's the electricity in France, it's dirty and the PS3 knows this! You need to go to Ireland or South Africa to test the game. Then we believe you.
<3 blim
let those fanboys get it on... keep your head out of the line of fire... those guys ALWAYS find something to brawl about. I just don't get it.
anyway: I have the 360 version and the game runs perfectly smooth. ONLY when on lookouts and the camera pans around me, there is very slight judder/tearing (not always!!!). I also experienced MINIMAL slowdowns once in a while.
besides that this game is not only technically impressive, its FUN TO PLAY. thats the fact you all should be worried the most of. but instead you're hitting your heads like 6 year old bullys. grow up guys and start to enjoy this extraordinary beautiful game!
peace.
