Xbox 360

Microsoft and Bizarre Creations released these images of Project Gotham Racing 4. I don't think there is any need to prove how great this game looks after yesterday's video, but I'm not going to complain!

IMO, gameplay-wise, GT's actual rival is PGR, not Forza. And I started to doubt that GT5 Prologue will be the best looking racing game this year... It could be PGR4.

Most impressive graphics racing game, above Forza 2 and GT5. I hope those a close to the ingame, shouldnt be too far considering that PGR3 is still impressive and didn't look far from its trailer looks.

This game is more impressive than Forza and GT5 graphically because of the detail of the environments AND cars, MS should have gotten the guys who do the graphics for this to help Turn10, the cars in PGR3 and 4 have a very real reflections and the vehicles aren't overly shiney (F2) or dull (GT5).

I got curious after reading the few comments here saying this one tops GT5 graphically.

Alas, after seeing the screenshots. A big MEH to that! Not even close.

Yeh these shots arent impressive, especially the last one. But the gameplay footage and the new intro footage that Blim showed us yesterday just stomps all over GT5 and Forza2.

And it looks good! Except for the last pic.

Yoshaw, GT5 has beautiful looking cars, beautiful lightning, but horrible surroundings. PGR4 compensates that, both good looking cars and wonderful surroundings. Even weather effects, not that that's what makes it look good.

You have to make compromises even with this powerful generation.

Forza 2 focused on simulation and 60fps and the trade off was only 2xAA (although at times it looks like none at all), no HDR, low polygon car models and very bland and last-gen looking environments.

PGR4 focuses on realistic looking cars and realistic looking environments with high poly count, photorealistic high-res textures and a lot of post processing like AA (hopefully this time ;) ), HDR, motion blur. Trade-off is 30fps, no damage model, no simulation.

GT5 is all about the car models which have a very high poly count (up to 200K), but the game suffers from no AA and from what we have seen so far similar bland looking enviroments than Forza.

I think in this generation we won´t see a perfect racing game that delivers all of the pros without cons. And it´s no just a matter of power, but also of manpower.

Those PGR4 screens look really good although they are bullshots as the game will probably not feature the insame amount of AA that has gone into these shots. Guess they are from photo mode. But this in true 720p and with 4xAA and I`m happy. I´m glad that the game seems to have really advanced a lot since the E3 demo, which I played in Leipzig and which did not impress me at all.

ok PlumbDrumb, not sure why you feel the need to boulet time it, i believe its a valid statement, maybe the stomping GT5 and Forza2 is a little fanboyism. But certainly dont believe these images give the game any credit when you compare it in motion.

cars in pgr4 are like 100K polygons, how much did they use forza and gt5??

mixing psyde and xboxyde is the worst thing that has happened to this site. full of fanboys comparin game GRAPHICS. a game is more then graphics.

PGR and GT arent even alike gameplay wise. GT is a full sim and PGR is arcade and sim mixed.

Do we need to compare every game on 360 to something on PS3?, it's really getting old. PGR4 and GT5 are completely different racers.

Stop bickering over small details, just enjoy your games for what they are.

^_^ i smell love

but yes, PGR doesnt have many games similar, closest would be NFS franchise, and it tops them with ease, even with it being hideously rushed out, PGR3 _still_ holds up well against current racing games in both gameplay and graphics, so kudos to bizarre

You are absolutly RIGHT. GT5 Prologue is MILES BEHIND, and looks horrible (as I said before)

..most of you here are very strange people. GT5 prologue is not in any way a proper representation of the final version - GT5. the cars are excellent, the buildings (although few have been seen) look better than those in PGR4. yes, the environments are the weakest out of PGR4 and Forza2 but it's still early days; polyphony have focused on the cars first, i'm sure the environments will be greatly improved for the release of GT5

no, the cars ARE their focus, always have been, always will, GT4 prologue was the same as retail, GT5 Prologue will be too, so dont get your hopes up

As far as I'm concerned, PGR and GT are more alike than FM and GT. Playing GT these days feels like playing bumper cars, as does PGR, though PGR does offer cosmetic damage at least. That said, I think PGR4 looks more impressive than GT5, if only because the latter chose to go with 16 cars on track at 60fps, while PGR4 will do only half that. FM looks shitty compared to either game, especially in terms of replays, but the gameplay is amazing. I like all three series, and will be getting both PGR and GT. It's just sad that you can't have the perfect racing game in one neat package.

Is it just me or does the bike engine (gray and black parts) in the last pic look untextured/unmapped. They're just flat polygons. How could they make a mistake like that when releasing shots :/

Otherwise looking good but of course the non-city environments are not the best side of PGR4 and it's ODD they keep using them in screenshots.
