Trailer PC PS4 Xbox One Xbox 360 PS3

We knew it was coming but at least now it's official, SEGA and The Creative Assembly have formally announced Alien: Isolation for PC, PS4, PS3, X1 and Xbox 360, due to release in late 2014. The game takes place in a city-sized space station and is set 15 years after the events from the original film and put the players in the shoes of Amanda Ripley, Ellen's daughter. The developer uses an in-house engine and says there's no multiplayer, focus is on the survival horror aspect. Get the screens and videos inside.

No multiplayer!! YES!! To every other dev out there, take note! Stop screwing up potentially awesome SP titles by tacking on shitty MP with even shittier tacked on MP achievement/trophies!! Thank you Sega, now don't fk this up or ill look a twat ;)

From the preview videos of the gameplay, it looks perfect on the game design front. Critics seem worried how an experience with one alien will go on for 10 hours, but nothing about the crew is known yet.

looks great... but how do you make a 10+ hour game with only one enemy and keep it interesting?? The answer might be you don't.

I love idea, I just don't expect it ti live up to the promise at all. But I'd love to be wrong. I really love how they are just blatantly using the first film as guide, not trying to change too much but just use all of what made it a great film.

I'm guessing not directly influenced since both games must have been in development for quite a while, but they definitely look similar in lighting and art direction even though they're on different engines.

@Gamersyde: Did you get any of that "B-roll" gameplay footage that other sites are showing off. Would like to see that in HQ!!

Considering how familiar most people are with the Alien now, I'd question how effective any new "Alien" fiction can really be in comparison to an original story, even if an original story was to take inspiration from Alien.

I don't think so. I mean, for one, Routine takes influence from Alien, but also I am guessing this has been in development at least as long as Routine.

Also Routine will be combat oriented; there isn't just one monster.

Check Creative Assemly's list of developed games. Other than Total War series no good games, with a couple (Stormrise for example) being complete disasters. That's what worries me.

More like Resident Evil 3: Nemesis where the Nemesis turned up every so often and chased you through a building when you least expected it. This will be similar.

While the devs back catalogue is hardly a lost of greatness. The trailer and gameplay look amazing...it's actually jumped to one of the more exciting titles of the year for me. Amnesia + big chap...what's not to love about that combination.

Original rumours surrounding this game mentioned human enemies and later more then 1 alien. Whether that was BS or whether it was considered but didn't work? Who knows. Hell, maybe it's all still planned. But if so my anticipation drops quite significantly.

"You, as Amanda, spend most if not all of the game on a single space station, according to our source. There's only one alien for "most" of the game, our source said; you'll mostly be shooting through "clones and soldiers." Vents, lockers, and melee weapons are a big part of Isolation, our source said, and the game is heavily inspired by the first Alien movie."

That was the original info about the game. Hopefully things have changed.

It just utterly blows my mind that nobody, before this, has figured out that a survival horror type adventure would fit the goddamn alien universe. I mean, am i the only one that think that Alien is by FAR the best movie in the series? Great direction, acting, screenplay, sceneography, atmosphere and suspense. The other movies just devolve in to dumb action or lame, half-hearted attempts at doing the same thing the first one did so amazingly well. I suppose dudebros in space shooting the icky aliens are "cooler" than...you know, a really well crafted movie. Not that Aliens was bad by any stretch, it just sucks a fat one in comparison to Alien. God i hate Bill Paxton by the way. Anything he is in automatically loses at least 10% of it's appeal as soon as he is in it. Game over man!

Anyway, this is the first time i see a game in this franchise and feel hyped about it. Just hope it doesn't get the shaft from some dumb fuck at sega that thinks it hasn't got enough space marines in it or some shit.

@KORNdog: Certainly hope this game doesn't turn into a shooter 3 hours in.

Though I do hope we get to battle with, or run from, an Andriod at some point.

Ive been waiting for this kind of Alien game for a long time. Maybe some of You remember 8bit era Alien game, based truly on the first movie, where You had the whole Nostromo crew and You had to finish the game and escape that son of a bitch. It was awesome! Maybe today it looks stupid, but it was a good game. http://images.gamestar.de/images/idgwpgsgp/bdb/236...

Alien was great because it was new, nothing like the chest burst had ever been seen in main stream cinema, aliens was great as an action flick, alien 3 was actually quite good, but was very confused and lacked the surprise element of the first, its the first surprise that makes everything, I would go with permadeath on this game, make it very very scary that way

I will buy this. Looks like Sega and Creative Assembly have made a game that goes back to the suspense and survival horror of the original story. Great job.

This looks great. Puzzles, exploration, great atmosphere,... exactly what an Alien game needs, not a stupid fps like the latest Aliens game that was released last year.
