Hmm I though the game had some challenge against those Big dudes. I played on hard and with those Vita-Chambers disable.

I am playing on hard too and finding that difficulty very suitable to my taste. It's challenging but hardly frustrating which is perfect.

Yeah this is one of those game you need to play on hard. Otherwise the game loses lots of the atmosphere and stuff. I mean with easy you could kill Big Daddy's with monkey wrench...

Really makes me wanna buy it again. I finished it but I thought it was just an excercise in running back into the action after yet another vita chamber revive. The lack of urgency and challenge really put the game in the Assassin's Creed category for me where the game itself - just like AC - is actually pretty phenomenal but you never really get to use everything unless you just mess around for no real reason.

So you played with easy and reviving on? Shame on you :P

Seriously speaking I really hated the reviving thing. When I played the game and the option to disable revives wasn't available, I just loaded every time I died.

I got the game at launch and there was no word on a no revival thing back then.

And no, as a personal rule I never, ever, play on easy. :D

Easy mode just ruins most games for me. I don't see the point of easy mode at all. If you can't play on normal or hard you don't try enough. It would be like in NES days you could play Super Mario Bros with star power all the time. Pfff these games today.

So I guess I could say your rule is good then :P

Sounds awesome! That's exactly what was lacking when I played the game. You were just repackaged and popped out of those vending machines whereas the Big Daddy was as worn down as you managed to get him the previous attempt.

I really need to get this game again.

I did that for the first one I encountered. Tried doing the same for the second but oh boy! he throw one single grenade at the camera and it was all over!!! He's just way too tough ....

Oh YEAH! very difficult indeed. The first one took me quite a while as well. even regular enemies can give you some challenge sometimes.

Alimo: you have to get him to one of those cameras hanging in the ceiling, the kind that sends little flying robots after him. That always worked for me. But then i played on normal and when the game was just released.

There are none of those nearby to where this big daddy is. The only one there is a gun turret and one that shoots bombs. I destroyed the one that shoots bombs unfortunately and saved :( That one would have helped if I hacked it.

Well, but you do realize that not everybody playing games nowadays is a student with plenty of free time and no other responsibilities. I´m playing games purely for entertainment and relaxation. The same reasons I would watch a movie for. I don´t even want to try hard. I have to try hard enough in my job.I don´t want to play the same part over and over again just because it has to be challenging for hardcore gamers. This is what an easy setting is for. It should be challenging to some extent, but it should still allow you to play through the game in a reasonable amount of time without too many frustration.

And Bioshock was perfect in that regard. I played it through in approx. 12-15 hours hardly with any frustration and it was an absolutely awesome experience.

Anyways, Bioshock is a gem in my collection, I can't believe people sold it.
While my stance on Bioshock in relation to my very dear copy of System Shock 2 says a lot about what I was hoping for and what I didn't get, it's not so much me dissing the game when I sold it.

I sell games very, very often. It's how I make my economy work and how I can afford to play all the games I do play. When I sell something I'm looking at two things specifically. It's overall place in videogame history. Is it a game I believe will be remembered "forever"? Is it a ONE game that'll forever stand as the only representation of that set of ideas or is it something that will be sequelled to hell and back, on numerous occasions being expanded on and bettered?

If it is the one game I keep it no matter what.

The second consideration is; how do I feel personally about it? Is it something that made a mark in me, is it something I want to "endorse" by having it on my shelf? That kind of nod is completely unrelated to review scores or its overall acknowledgement in video game annals, and completely determined by my own affection. On Saturn there was a game called Steep Slope Sliders that I felt this way about and I've still got that. On PSX there was Vib Ribbon, on N64 there was Operation Winback and Jet Force Gemini. On Dreamcast there was Red Dog and Psychic Force 2012, on Xbox there was Brute Force and Amped 2. On the 360 there are The Outfit and Full Auto. Of course there are plenty more across all the formats I've owned, but these are just examples of fairly poorly rated games that I've had so much fun with and that have won a real place in my heart.

With Bioshock I didn't get that personal connection with it at all, and that's a pretty elusive thing I think. Apart from that I was disappointed in how it was scaled back from System Shock in terms of how you could play it, and the real nail in the coffin was that the game really didn't care if you used all your might or not. Rapture could've been scary if you felt threatened by it, but for me it lost all potency when the game was so apologetic.

But yes, the DLC stuff added seems to have fixed that part of it and I'm willing to give it another go. Ironically I mentioned Brute Force in this post, another game that was absolutely bland on the default difficulty setting.

Probably a longer reply than you were fishing for (if indeed you were interested in one at all) but that's me for you. :D

EDIT: I want to add that I did of course finish Bioshock.

To be a student doesn't really mean a lots of free time but yeah I can see what you mean. For me challenge is fun and we play to have fun, so yeah I can understand if others want to play to follow the story or/and just relax after a hard day.
