2008-03-28 21:43:26 The Steam Thread! (Deals+Discussion) I have seen quite many deals on Steam lately. I though it might be a good idea to make thread about it. --- |

2008-03-29 19:51:05 That's a good price. Will not buy it, but it is a good price. They should have sold it for that at release and i would have bought it. --- |

2008-04-19 16:14:50 In reply to GriftGFX (2008-04-19 16:08:06) I agree that price for individual game is a bit too much. I got the OB from that sale too. Great price for great games. Funny thing is that I haven't completed HL2 episodes yet :p and I really like HL2. --- |

2008-04-19 18:29:30 I played TF2 and it pretty much sucks, granted I played the console version which I suppose doesn't help. But really, the shooting is just weak as hell, and if your shooting game can't get that right then it sucks. --- |

2008-04-19 18:33:55 TF2 would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that I was often kicked out of games the second I appeared on them (ie. hardcore TF2 gamers only playing among their friends). COD4/Halo 3 matchmaking ftw. --- |

2008-04-19 18:58:34 In reply to TheBeagle (2008-04-19 18:39:02) Posted by TheBeagle I would put that entirely down to it being the console version. TF2 is one hell of a fine game. But yeah I should give the PC version a try. It also felt like the maps were too big, and all of them looked alike. --- |

2008-04-20 11:05:25 No, if a game gets many awards, and gets high scores, you have to recognise that it's not really crap, merely that it's a game you don't like. There's a big difference in personal preference and actual quality. It's pretty obvious when you play that TF2 is a highly polished game, filled with quality. But again, on a console.... |

2008-04-20 15:58:49 In reply to LEBATO (2008-04-19 18:58:34) Posted by LEBATO Well I don't know. I doubt it though. Do you still have to shoot someone like a million times on the PC version? Weapons are pretty boring all around. But yeah I should give the PC version a try. It also felt like the maps were too big, and all of them looked alike. Using that as your basis for it being a bad game is a bit strange. The game plays that way for a reason. It's not like Valve just somehow messed up the development of TF2. It is, after all, one of the most balanced shooters that I've played while also being an absolutely beautiful game. Even though the game is a shooter at heart it still requires a large amount of strategy as appose to sheer skill in aiming. Knowing how to use a certain class effectively is extremely important and can mean the difference in beating a heavy or dying a horrible death. I just think its an extremely clever game and can be played in so many different ways. If you just wanna go in and play it as a regular shooter you can do that. Jump on the soldier or scout class and go blast some fools. If you wanna use strategy and stealth then go master the spy. You could go about in enemy territory killing people without them realising you are even there if played correctly. About the maps. They are going with that visual theme at the moment but I hear that there is plans to bring in an entirely new look with additional maps down the line. All the other classes are going to receive similar updates to what the medic just gained as well. Sorry for the essay. --- |

2008-04-21 00:17:46 Well, I don't quite understand what you mean by having to shoot someone a "million" times. That all depends on what weapon you are using. For instance I can take a player out with 3 well placed rockets. The game's basic gameplay owes its heritage to stuff like Quake, while being vastly different in that it has layers of gameplay to learn before it all really clicks. The best suggestion I have is to start with an easy to play class, watch the levels intro movie, and work with your teammates. I don't play it very often but I do think it's a fun game. |

2008-05-07 22:17:55 Word. Neat game.. a little rough around the edges but the beta was fun. Reasonably high learning curve, but not so high that it's hard to get into imo.. |
