TGS: Shadow of the Colossus trailer

I've played it dozens of times but for sure I will play it again, it looks fantastic. Now do the same with ICO and I can sell my ps3 at last.

I always felt SotC lost much of it's mystery with the smooth framerate high definition PS3 hd remake. The low framerate, heavy on motion blur visuals of the original PS2 release was perhaps not ideal from a gameplay perspective, but to me it made the visuals and world atmosphere so much more powerful.

This (proper) remaster looks nice with the added detail and all, but from the trailer it looks like many of the same issues i had with the PS3 port still stands. Such as low fidelity (compared to the updated meshes and textures) animation, which worked on PS2 as it was masked by the framerate, resolution and motion blur, but lacks weight and scale here.

Will most likely buy this though :)

I'm against this being remade. It's like removing the cracks from a Monet. Stupid, so stupid. Taking a page right out of hollywood. Why not just ask gamers what their favorite games were growing up and suck the heart out of them and get it over with.

Normally i would agree but this is a unique situation. Ithink this is targeted mostly to new player as SOTC ,despite getting so much recognition it sold really bad compared to other aaa games (like all team ico games unfortunately) and so many people haven't played it yet. It still holds up too because its such a unique game. As far as this remake i have to say it looks too clean for me, its gorgeous but it lacks that hazy bloom look of the original which even though it was probably due a tech limitation it added to the original atmosphere. I trust Bluepoint to do a great job overall though. It would be a real shame if this was their first fuck up when its such an important game

there's definitely something to be said for the original PS2 version that will always be removed from a much smoother higher resolution version. The low inconsistent framerate and blurry resolution contributed to a decidedly dreamlike experience the likes of no other. Such a great thing that worked in this sense from those limitations
