I understand what you mean despite the poor choice of words. diversity is at the moment on top of Ubisoft's agenda and that's precisely what gaming community requested. the implementation, however, might have been handled rather poorly I admit. as for R6 and AC:S, aesthetic choices for character design could have been taken more seriously. a few years back, people felt fed up with the lack of diversity in storytelling and creative processes involved; now some of us can't help but think we are annoyed by the presence thereof. at this point I for one am more concerned about the state of ubi games in terms of quality rather than characters and customisation options. a bit of mixed feelings really, I hate and love Ubisoft at the same time.

Well sure, exceptions are 100% ok, I had no problem with earlier Clancy's games having female snipers and such. But they just stuff their games with whatever they think would please the cheering crowd. It's so corporate and cynical and targeted at a specific audience that it makes me die inside a little every time I see this sort of pander. It's like Blizzard level of pandering.

And perhaps my first post was a bit of a "cry me a river windbaggery", but my whole point was not so much about one particular issue, but the whole damn pack of them. It just so happens that shoehorning "progressive" messages about women and gays into every random popular game with no regards for artistic integrity, world believability and so on, to simply get good press and the buzz, has been Ubi's shtick for a decade now and is at the forefront of the most annoying things I find about the gaming industry and their products in general. Hence, me complaining about it first and their preference of gimmicks over substance second. Guilty as charged I guess.

Siege has a female/male combination from just about all the countries they've chosen to represent in the game.
They aren't doing it to be progressive. They're doing it because females exist in these special forces as well...

Also Overwatch's characters are purposely diverse because it makes for a more interesting varied cast.
It's not pandering, it makes each more unique, varied, and cool to play


I like how for generations we've just been playing male characters and suddenly adding diversity is pandering or bothersome.
Find something more useful and deserving to be angry about.

I'm no expert on a subject, but I'm kinda 100% sure that women are allowed in special forces in support roles only. As in radio operators and such, with no presence in the field.

And do tell how is it not a complete disregard of realistic and consistent world-building, and not pandering after the Unity cover debacle, to have female brawlers 'en masse' in Syndicate in time when women were to abide in accordance with rather strict social standards, not to mention how they would be practically useless in a fistfight. Am I missing something here or is it just blatantly obvious pander and Ubi just wants the buzz and the sales? I can't believe some people honestly think that they care. They likely don't. It's a business, and they're eager to sacrifice artistry and honest representation of history in order to push the narrative that's hip with SJW crowd, seeing how bloody vocal it is, given a chance to hate on someone.

And no, we haven't been playing as male characters for generations and when we were there was usually a good reason. Like world believability and realism and historical accuracy.

Also, I'm not really angry about it. I just feel a bit depressed with how artistic diversity is being replaced by political diversity. I want realistic games to be realistic and believable, and I want my not realistic games to be mad fun. I don't want them to mix like it's happening today. I'm sorry for liking things like they before 2006.
