There have been a fair few times I have caught myself saying "Jesus, this game looks incredible." Probably one of my favourite Sony games because it has fantastic graphics and I am shocked at how fun a lot of the mechanics are especially as you said, coming from the guys who made Killzone.
When you catch the game at different times of the day, sometimes you do just stop and take it all in.
My biggest gripe so far is with Aloy speaking ALL THE FUCKING TIME. I had to send an e-mail very quickly, so I got up and left the game unpaused and she never stopped saying "Maybe my focus can showme maybe my focus canshowme maybe my focuscanshowme maybe myfocuscanshowme maybemyfocuscanshowme."
Otherwise, yeah, it's a pretty awesome game so far.

Then 10 hours after doing a bunch of trials and sidequests, got to the same point and she did it again. Now as many times as I say "Hotdamn this game looks incredible" it is also accompanied by "Could you just shut up." But I am at level 40 now and about 20 hours in and have only been to about half of the world. Every area is bursting at the seams with life especially Meridian, even though you can't interact with a lot of it, the game really sells you on its existence.
Before I turned it off last night, I even took down my first Stormbird which depleted my resources, not because it was difficult, but because it glitched and started standing in the sky, then when I lined it up for a critical hit, it fell into water that was too deep for me to find my footing and finish it off, so instead I just swam next to it non-lethally.

Only super annoying glitch was when I was fighting these Rockbreakers and I killed all but one but it just kept tunneling for 10mins but I really wanted the kill as they were dropping Shadow Mods.
Rockbreakers sound fun, so the moment I get time, I'm jumping back into... into... What the hell is the Horizon: Zero Dawn world called?

Did you fight it at level 1 and on Very Hard or something? I've found it nearly impossible to die to every robot because of how generous the game is with its tools and mechanics even on very hard. Stalkers are the worst mostly because of their ranged ability, but other than that not really had a problem.

I don't.
Just so I don't have to redact everything and talk more shit about how Scoobs didn't listen to Rost when he said "It's dangerous out there"

I also need to check Scoob's youtube for his pro tips on how he handled a herd of Watchers.
Also pro tip - the names of creatures in the game probably aren't spoilers

The stars of the game were the robots anyway... and the Cauldron's, man those Cauldron's - awesome!
I do it with 'em all: PC, WiiU, PS4 and Xbox One.
It was only ever fun at the end of a cauldron when they threw the stars of the show at you, except for that time they didn't and you had to fight boring ass humans.

i loved the first (serious matrix real world vibes and a complete tonal shift from the natural landscape you'd been exploring up to that point) and the third, which was overgrown and the shift to human combat and wave based survival was awesome too. i just wish the other 2 shared the same variety to mix things up a bit. the 4th was such a huge disappointment. literally 3 steps forward...fight a thunderjaw (of which i'd fought about 7 prior to it anyway) i missed the lead up.
i really hope sequels build upon them. they reminded me of AC2's more linear "dungeons". but ubisoft where idiots and completely scrapped them after that game. i want GG to add more, with more variations.

Of course I would have preferred a heavier agent of good puzzle design attributed to these cauldrons than "machine of the week" but I don't think Guerilla are quite there yet. While the cauldron with the plant-life and the ceiling caved in was a nice change of design palette contrasting the form of lush greenery against the harshness of cold and metal slates, humans in HZ: D are just boring as hell to fight.
Is there any DLC planned for this game? I was tempted to sell it because it is very one and done, but I like it so much that I'm definitely willing to hold onto it.

Regarding the humans, yeah they were a change of pace, but by the time I embarked on bandit camp hunting, I had already bought the stealth suit and had put two very rare stealth mods on it which allowed you to walk right up to people and stealth kill them from the front for the most part. Coupled with all Aloy's moveset upgrades, it was harder to stay visible than invisible.
I think a lot of this can be tied to the fact that the game is very forgiving, understanding because it needed to be accessible and while I would have liked it to be far more challenging I see why they designed it this way.
