I know some people have to be amazed as to how incredible SP ended up looking. I knew it would look better than the beta, but if I claimed I thought it would look this good I would've been lying my ass off.

I know people have got to be surprised. The SP is exactly the leap from MP to SP that people didn't expect to happen. Its nuts how much the screens or beta didn't do this game justice.

Have you looked at the new MP footage? It looks very comparable to single player.. both MP and SP look significantly better than the beta. I'm not surprised at all. It does look great though.

Frank says many people complained that Bungie didn't have a vehicle Race mode in Halo 2, but you can make a race mode in Halo 3 "in like five minutes, fully functional, with checkpoints".

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."

Sweet. Brute Chopper race! I wonder what's the fastest vehicle in the game now? Guess we'll find out :)

That link is totally not loading though. Boo.. I want details. F'n checkpoints! I wonder what other unique game modes we'll be able to create in Halo 3. Custom games are going to own.

EDIT: Okay, loaded.. site must just be getting hammered. Interesting comments. I wonder just how deep the rules are that you can set in Forge--the fact that you can create functional checkpoints is a promising little tease. Perhaps you really could set up an RTS-ish game mode with rigid rules.. which would be pretty spectacular. I mean, if everyone just has to go by the honor system, and respect server rules independent of any actual rigid control.. it would be far less interesting.

If Forge actually allows you to create new game types that can be regulated though.. well, Forge just may wind up being a lot more interesting than I had originally thought. That would take it to another level, and we wouldn't be talking about something that's simply a playground anymore.

I don't know if u guys noticed but in one of the ign off screen video's u see the chief hitching a ride on a warthog (a marine is driving) and u see another spartan standing on the back shooting the mini-gun....

It's easy to believe, too -- as the Master Chief, the Arbiter and a number of Marine and civilian allies rush the gun, they're opposed by a number of Brutes, a legion of Grunts and an annoying contingent of shielded Jackals.

In fact, there are so many foes over such a distance that ammunition becomes something of a scarce commodity. (Especially since at least one of the Brute commanders carries an invincibility device that he uses when he comes under fire.) Fortunately, the entire enemy legion doesn't have to be defeated, only the AA gun. Its one weakness is a vent that opens in its belly between rounds; a few well-placed shots will destroy the gun and clear the Ark airspace for Miranda Keyes' dropship to advance....

But what happens next is a secret. Bungie won't let us see the outcome of this skirmish -- not to mention the secrets of the Ark -- until the final game is ready. I thought it would impress me in the graphics department, and it hasn't and probably won't. With Gears of War, Bioshock and Lost Planet out there.......it's incredibly hard to be even remotely impressed with what I'm seeing.
