While I was totally fine with Halo 3 graphically even before seeing the new SP footage I would've totally agreed that Killzone looks better visually, but after the latest footage I definitely go with Halo 3.

What Killzone does more impressively right now as far as I can see is its a more realistic kind of game, but Halo would be ruined if it went for Killzone's style style so its good to see Halo look so incredible while keeping its identity.

I'm not bashing Killzone so nobody catch a fit I think it looks fantastic (I believe Killzone stomps all over Gears as a matter of fact), I just prefer Halo's art style.

If this turns into a Killzone 2 vs Halo 3 thread, the posters gets bans, I kid you not. Keep it friendly.

Hmmm bit of a mixed bag visually, looks pretty good, deffinately looks better than Halo 3 visually (runs for cover)
Looks awesome, but I respectfully disagree.

You'll won't have environments in Killzone like they are rendered in Halo3 because Halo3 has HDR while Guerrilla is using a deferred renderer for Killzone.

Killzone still looks fantastic, but the dropping of HDR from a graphics stand point is significant. It simply will not have the same range of visual fidelity as Halo 3.

That being said, I'm very much looking forward to what Guerrilla is cooking up. The gameplay mechanics, the AI, multiplayer etc.

Well to be honest i find HDR to be over rated, yes it can look good, but as we know the PS3 has a hard time doing FSAA and HDR at the same time, so I have no problem them dropping the HDR, especially if he helps keep the framerate stable.

Guerilla has found some great work arounds with their deferred renderer and they are working with Second Intention on lighting and shadowing solutions.

DC you find these video rather quickly...love it, bring more please! :D

About the game...looks awesome as ever, this and Haze is gonna be awesome for me.

As for FPS cover, wow, they made a very cool way to this. So this is how it looks like if Gears of War was FPS and you took cover.

Rainbow Six Vegas should have done this, but ah well, nice to see Killzone 2 is going to have a more realistic cover system that you can see through the characters eyes rather switching camera.

And finally I can use a damn cool animated sprint move, always loved those kind of style, ever since I saw Crysis then I wanted all the FPS had this.

Yeah KZ2 is on my list of games to get also, love the realistic feel to the game, i just hope they dont screw it up?, but i think they are really gonna polish this game to do its looks justice.

Well as many FPS games are out there, I think they are gonna pull as many insperation as they can and make the game as a Killzone game as they can, maybe what Killzone 1 was suppose to be, although I havent played it.

But hopefully they make a great game, which I don't doubt that.

Previews: Killzone 2
Brtiefly, Games Convention gives us a chance to pick up the controller.

The anticipation for Guerilla Games to deliver on Killzone 2 has been dangerous. If the team didn't live up to the cinematic (and obviously CG) trailer from E3 2005, they'd have a hard time garnering any sense of credibility moving forward. Thankfully for everyone (including gamers), Killzone 2 debuted at E3 2007 to rabid buzz. Was it pixel-for-pixel like the trailer? No, but that they managed to come close is a feat all its own. At Games Convention 2007, we finally picked up the controller to see how it all comes together.
It's worth noting that nothing the team was showing at GC 2007 was different than E3. The only difference is we blew through the all-too-short demo twice with Guerilla at the helm, before the Sixaxis was passed on for, again, an all-too-brief hands-on session. In our fleeting moments with Killzone 2, it was difficult not to be impressed with what they're doing, providing they can keep the intensity up from start to finish in the final game.

The little details are what make Killzone 2. The reflection of a muzzle flash as you pump a hundred rounds into a Hellghast, how your character perspective literally tilts and swerves as you reload a weapon, the way wood chips away as bullets blast through its delicate exterior. You can tell the team poured their heart into this short demo, so we can only hope the rest of the game receives the same level of polish. While the team's comments during the demo were conservative and secretive, they seemed confident.

Rest here:

Lean and Peak--now that is cool. Lets hope it is fleshed out and works well, because they are addressing a HUGE area of fault in FPS.

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."

The biggest fault with FPS' of course is your POV. In the real world you have peripheral vision. Even the person with the weakest peripheral vision can see objects and movement just outside of their direct line of vision.

If game developers would add a function that temporarily extended the vision arc of the game by say 120 degrees, it would be easier to get a bead on opponents or whatever was coming at you from the side or even behind.

It would look like a semi-wrap around when applied and would revert back to the normal arc of vision in a split second because that's all the time you would need anyway.

Especially when some sneaky bastard is trying to........ur...um.. a fellow gameplayer is trying to flank you ;)

Now that's how first person cover should work.. in first person. Hate the blind fire/cover system in R6:Vegas.. this approach is far more reasonable. Seems a lot more functional than your typical FPS lean command too. If KZ2 does nothing else, I hope that this encourages people to explore simular options.

Ubisoft, pay attention!

Well the one on Rainbow Six Vegas is kind of cheap if it is a FPS then suddenly goes to 3rd person, you can see your surroundings and once you are out you can get perfect aim with first person view.

Glad Guerilla went FPS even with cover.

I couldn't agree more. I actually like the cover system in RB6 Vegas, and much more prefer it to GOW, but after watching the video, I think Killzone, may have found the right way to do it. I hope ubisoft tries it out and takes notice if it is indeed a better way to go, and implements it in GRAW3 and the future RB6's.

That is one sharp game by the way. I'm much more impressed by this than MGS. I'm a 360 fanboy, but so far I'm envious of the KZ... its meeting the hype so far.

well Liberations on the PSP was pretty solid I thought, and controlled quite well too. Was kind of surprised how well they got it to control on the PSP to be honest. Devs trying to make a 3rd person shooter on the PSP should take note in my opinion. Anyway, with that said, I'm that surprised with the strides they seem to be making with their PS3 title, after seeing what they achieved on the PSP.

Anyway, 25min dev walkthrough video(unless it was already posted :p)

Man the game looks absolutely amazing.

Amazing what they are doing with post processing and incredible first person cover and peak mechanics. I can see that being something a number of games probably end up copying in the future seems really well executed.

Game looks very close to perfect visually aside from the explosion/fire effects. Can't tell if some of the textures aren't there yet or if its just the quality of the video, but a lot of the textures do look pretty good.

Its just one level, but the level design so far seems to detract from the fun its like you have little to no space then you go into a room then there is a bad guy there and he's just so close to you sometimes. I'm hoping this is a characteristic of this specific section and isn't carried over to most parts of the game. Atleast give the player more space to mess around in.

With how big that level appears to be there shouldn't be too much of a problem giving the player larger playgrounds later. Then again it could work well with that nice cover and lean mechanic. Then again I imagine the player would like to be put in situations where he could take advantage of that as much as possible and have it be fun so the level design needs to be really good. I'd like to see areas with more space it seems incredibly cramped most of the time.

Most things look fantastic, but until I see more my biggest concern about this game now is its level design can't say I like it so far.

Guys he clearly said it is God mode, and that is pretty much dumb AI all the way and not getting hit that often to die quickly.

Besides he was showing the game off to show some weapons and visuals, and this game is waayyy to early to go into consideration of the AI. I bet they will fix the AI closer to release and such, I am hoping for more of a hardcore FEAR AI that would be bad ass.
