2008-07-10 02:31:43 In reply to dcdelgado (2008-07-09 15:30:04) You'll get your first look at Dragon Age this Friday, as first footage of the game will be featured on the next episode of GameTrailers TV on Spike. The "highly anticipated dark fantasy epic" also has a new name, officially known as Dragon Age: Origins from this point forward. The official Dragon Age web site continues to tease us with its promise of "More July 9, 2008." We hope they hurry it up, because there's not much July 9, 2008 left to spare. Posted by dcdelgado Oblivion / Mass Effect have spoiled me and FallOut3 is looking very good, so i have faith DA will be just as good also. :) |

It's EA though, so, I'm sure there will be some kind of clunky console port in the future.. just look at Red Alert 3 :P --- |

2008-07-12 11:48:41 In reply to dcdelgado (2008-07-12 10:45:56) Posted by Acert93 Looks interesting--much better quality than the old media. I wonder what type of game it will be. Personally I am waiting for an skill-based action title/RPG hybrid. There really aren't any of these. A merging of GoW, HS, NG, etc fighting styles in an RPG esque game would be totally epic, especially if an MMO. Actually, the Endorphin Indy game style combat in an RPG would do me just fine. I am sure that BW will do whatever works best for this game, but the fact they tried some FPS elements in ME make me hopefully that BW will be the first to meaningfully merge genres. Depth+Skill based twitch action... other than navigation a mouse to a menu and clicking really fast :P All signs point to this being the spiritual successor to BG, just without D&D's world or systems. I wouldn't expect this to be much of a "skill based action title." You can bet that it will be deep and original though, given the talent behind it, the length of its development cycle, and the direction they've already stated for the title. There hasn't been much info in terms of combat, but I suspect we'll see this game in depth next week, and that mystery will be solved. I just hope it's a good deal longer and more epic than their console games (as much as I adore KOTOR), and I'm pretty sure it will be. I'm sufficiently pleased with the teaser, they've obviously been hard at work over the last three years since this game debuted at E3 2005. I can't wait to see some real gameplay next week. 2008-07-12 11:51:39 Thanks Grift. I wasn't trying to crap on the game, as anything BW is pretty much gold. ME inclines me to think BW is never lazy in regards to progressing and improving games and is willing to defy genre limits to make the best game possible, hence my general optimism, even if it doesn't apply to DA which will be a sight for sore eyes for fans of BG. My cousin is a huge BG fan. --- |

2008-07-12 11:55:00 It seems they went really crazy on productions values this time around. Hopefully Mass Effect 2 will be on par with it. However, this particular fantasy setting seems extremely generic - obviously I don't know the story and so on, but it really gives LITR-like impressions, which I'm quite frankly sick of by now. --- |

2008-07-12 11:58:41 I'm glad to see Bioware return to the fantasy genre personally. I'm down with them continuing down their science fiction route, but let's not pretend that we're not seeing loads more sci-fi games than we are fantasy titles. For a sci-fi fix, there's always Mass Effect 2, and most likely their MMORPG. |

2008-07-12 12:04:59 It's not that I hate fantasy... But there are different kinds of fantasy. Jade Empire is a fantasy setting as well, but feels much more unique than the DA:O trailer. --- |

2008-07-12 13:02:58 In reply to Acert93 (2008-07-12 12:17:58) i hope it's just short trailer and game will be dark fantasy RPG inspired by George R.R. Martin's A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE and Frank Frazetta's art like Bioware said. Posted by Acert93 Unique isn't always better, especially in terms of sales. sorry my eng is weak. |
