Chris is there to defend his ass from the "people" who live in Africa that is infected as psychopaths trying to kill Chris, so of course he is there to kill anyone in his way.

Same thing with RE4. I know Leon was always on his mind NOT to kill anyone in the beginning of his mission, but once he saw the crazy spanian man take an axe to kill Leon, he started to shoot.

I'm not defending some random person of whatever degree of rabidness pointing it out, I'm defending the notion that people might take offense because it's one of the most obvious examples I've ever seen. People tried to make Loco Roco out to be racist. They're fucking blobs of goo! In this game you actually will be headshotting hundreds of black people, and while the initiated will be privy to the reason why, the casual observer won't have that.

Sath, normally - if you're an official law enforcer anyway - when people rush you you spray them with water or get enough manpower to push them back. Generally you don't kill civilians, and that goes for spanish people too by the way :).

Like you say, Leon avoids killing anyone until he realises they're not human. If it was obvious that these guys aren't human, the woman who wrote the article wouldn't even begin to have a point.

Anyway, I don't want to make it seem like I'm upset, I just think it's a valid thing to point out about it. It was even a valid point back when the movie this is inspired by came out.

BUT BUT BUT, you could shoot black people in the head in Saints Row,GTA, 25 To Life or 50 Cent Bulletproof, and people didn't seem to have a problem with that. Many black people even played a black person shooting another black person in the game. OMG, THE CONSPIRACY!!!

Yes simon, I see what you mean but if someone doesnt recognize the fact that what he sees is part of something called "A GAME" and then goes around slacking something off before doing their research i.e. finding out that it's first and foremost a bloody G.A.M.E and that those people are bloody I.N.F.E.C.T.E.D by a virus and that this kind of game will have an M-rating i.e. kids arent allowed to buy it, then their opinions dont deserve to be acknowledged. Seriously, if things like this keep happening then why the hell do we have those game rating companies ... they're a waste of money.

PS: Simon, my frustration isnt targeted at you by they, I'm just annoyed by all this that's all ;)

The way I see it movie producers/directors are allowed to express their visions in movies and authors are allowed to do the same in books. I suggest they let game developers have the same freedom/right.

Did you guys actually go to her blog? One of her own comments states "I would feel more comfortable if all the zombies were white and they should be from now on." Im not sure if that's an attempt at being sarcastic or funny, but it fails miserably, and she comes off as nothing but racist herself.

It's okay, I get the same way when they make GTA out to be a "cop killer simulator" and so on. I go ballistic in fact, and the expression "blood boiling" makes so much sense to me then. :)

I totally get what you mean about context - I think I've consistently tried to keep that baked into my posts - and I definitely wouldn't enforce action here, but I do feel it's up there above GTA's "cop killing" qualities as things that'll obviously leave a bad taste with unfamiliar people. Oh and way, way above Castle Crashers and Loco Roco.

I think at the end of the day what's important to note is that I don't think this game needs to change, because I don't see how it could tell its story (which is beyond all doubt free from any racism - casual or otherwise) without having you gun down crazy black guys. It tries to incorporate the sensation of being in a foreign land with angry people yelling in foreign languages and wanting to kill you because you're different from them, and the reason the trailer is so spectacular is because they've done a terrific job of it.

It makes you giggle a bit when you think about how incredibly similar it is to Black Hawk Down, the producer's confessed source of inspiration, but a certain sense of deja vu didn't stop Dead Rising from being great. :)

Not only that, but it's not like he's just trekking across Africa just killing people, infected or not infected. He was at that village to try and find information on what was going wrong, and finding a means to cure it. Then the very people he was there trying to save, got infected, turned into zombie mode and tried to attack and kill him, and even attacked their own. Psssh, after that, that ancient "kill or be killed" scenario comes into play.

They should throw those blog writers into the same scenario and see what they do. Like saying, "now you all cut it out now", is really going to solve it. Won't take long for them to start screaming, "shoot them in the head, shoot um in the head". I know I would :P

Personally, I do not find the game racist. I mean for crying out loud, it's just Resident Evil. You go around killing zombies and stuff. If some sort of outbreak happened in the heartland of America (Raccoon City), you'd expect to see mostly white zombies. If it happened in China, you'd expect to see mostly Asian zombies. I think the real insult would be to have the outbreak in the game take place in somewhere like Africa or Haiti, and have only white zombies; as if to imply that there are no blacks in these regions of the world.

I will say this much, however. Even though I do not find the game's content offensive, I can see how an outsider looking in at the series for the first time, could easily construe the game as being racists. It's like I was joking about in the gifs above, whitey goes to Africa and lays the smack down on the locals - after centuries of European "colonialization" of Africa, and only God knows how many hundreds of millions displaced or dead as the result, for someone who did not know that the RE series is race agnostic to see the trailer for the first time, I can honestly see why they would think the game was racist.

Hopefully Capcom will stick to their guns on this and not make changes to the game to appeal to people who are simply ignorant of the fact that the game, it's story and it's content have nothing to do with race.

The thing is that law enforcement WILL take action within the 2-3rd warning, if not then its damned.

It is true you know, after i watched that trailer, i went out and killed all my "coloured" friends, but the cops let me off, because the gamesmade me do it, now capcom is in court while i sit at home playing WoW and dont have to work because of the trauma caused by the incedent, now the goverement buys me everything and sends me on holidays for free (just not africa)
