Actually i was out last night so only got an hour into the game, after spending a good half an hour making my Shepard, i got a bloody disc read error!! so after some swearing and cleaning of the disc, i quickly just jumped into the game with the default Shepard to make sure the disc was working fine (i shall start again tonight with my custom Shepard), as i have seen the beginning part before i thought i would be meh seen this before, boy was i wrong, you miss all the little touches when you're watching videos, like if you just stand behind any of your crew they will turn there heads and look at you, give you a little nod or salute you, and before i even went to see the Captain i spoke to the Dr and some other NPC's and conversations were very interesting and cinematic, i love how they just flow just like you having a real conversation and the facial animations pull you in even further :). The combat took me about 15mins to get used too and i love it, i agree with Joli about the combat wheel though, its so bloody sensitive when selecting powers, it just jumps around like a meth-head, its gonna take some getting used to, the duck n cover and crouch mechanics i found worked very well and the squad direction commands worked well, on the options settings i set my squad to active (use all combat tactics to help?) by default its set to only use biotic s for defense of squad and self, not sure what difference this will make to the way my squad behave as i only played an hr. Graphics so far are fantastic, (i have turned the grain filter off), the models and environments are top-notch, and the water is amazing i spent a good 10mins just shooting and running in it on Eden Prime :), the look/reaction/splashes and ripples are all very well done, there is the odd pop-in and stutter (but hey what game dose not have that!), but this is a massive RPG so i have no issues with that. Well over the weekend i am going to dive in full throttle, i'll try to take some time out to take some pics for those that requested it, as Jin said 'Amazing Times' :).   2007-11-17 19:31:22 Just a quick sign in to say i'm lovinvg it!!!! :), thoes guys just rushing through it to finish are idiots in my opinion, i mean its an RPG so explore every nook and cranny, speak to every NPC you can.. devle into every quest you can, take time and thought into leveling up, this is an amazing cinematic game, you waited so long for and paid good money why the hell are you going to rush through it? anyway back to Mass Effect :D 2007-11-19 16:40:55 Impression so far: What can I say, I’m around 20hrs in and I have just acquired the last member of my squad, and am just now starting to get into the meat of the story. The in-game conversations just keep getting better and better, the writing is top notch, I have laughed out loud at some of the off hand quips, IE: in one instance Liara was complementing me on my work (in a flirting way), when Ashley butted in and basically told her stop the flirting and back off! , and the cut scenes (WOW) are more cinematic than I have EVER seen in a video game before, there have been so many instances that have left me amazed, I won’t mention any as I don’t want to spoil anything for you, I also find the animations to be very good, the movement and actions all seem very realistic, Tip: when you’re in the nightclub go check out the dance floor those guys and gals can really dance, the moves are all fluid and very believable , you have not lived until you see a Salarian getting down with his funkyself , I went on the dance floor hoping for an option to join in, but no such luck damn you Bioware!. I have to say I’m loving the combat and this was one aspect of the game, I was unsure if I would like or not, as an RPG fan all this shooter/action talk had me worried, until I played it for myself that is, RPG fans there is no need to worry the combat is very deep and strategic, and the Levelling up is deep and satisfying, and the equipment and mods WOW! There is an unbelievable amount of tweaking that can be done here (Maybe too much for the standard player) the X06 section i played blew me away, just WOW!, one thing I’m not a fan of though is the shops?, so far I have found no reason to even use them, I mean the amount of loot I am finding is more than enough for me and my squad to be equipped with some bad ass gear, maybe I’ll need it later in the game who knows? Well so far for me this game has surpassed KOTOR, and that’s hard for me to say as KOTOR holds top spot and a very special place in my gaming experiences, but Bioware have really taken story telling to a whole new plateau with this game !, well I’m taking my time with the game cant play it much in the week due to work and commitments, but the longer this game last me the better!. Any Questions feel free to ask? I just laughed out loud at what i have just found out (Easter Egg?) :D, I dont think its a spoiler but just encase. LOL!! if you bring ashley onto the dancefloor at Flux Nightclub and speak to her, she will first tease you buy saying "if we were not on duty i would show you some of my dance moves sir!" if you then press A again, you both start dancing together, go sheapard! go ashley! its your birthday its your birthday!! ;)

I just got my assassins creed copy (will NEVER buy again from GAMESTATION!) and will be spending most of my time with that .... Hopefully I can get a first chance at playing it tonight ...... --- |

2007-11-21 17:38:36 Right if the weapon says untrained your class IE vanguard is not trained in that weapon, so your going to be shit with it? but other members of your party might be, its all about balancing, some weapons have bad accuracy, some very good, again check the stats of your selected weapon, the pistol is doing me proud so far :) . Read and then equip the right type of ammo for the enemy you are facing, some ammo will rip them to shreads other will not do much damage. --- |
