2007-09-20 14:35:54 LMAO, not that was just ridiculous, especially when you zoned into the wrong area and had to switch a disc just to go back to where you came from. --- |

2007-09-20 17:22:13 Well, American developers dont seem to have the same fetish for over the top CGI movies, like Japanese developers. Personally, I don't care if they use the game engine for the cutscenes, as long as the same amount of time is put into the story, as I'm sure it will with Mass Effect, though I am wondering with Lost Odyssey (only a bit, but a bit none the less). |

2007-09-20 23:13:17 I don't see how pre-rendered CG is pointless anyway. Personally I like seeing CG in some games. I wish NG2 could have HD CG.. the CG in NG1 was freaking excellent. It's not like we've reached the point where in game engines can match pre-rendered video.. I'm not sure that will ever happen. |

2007-09-20 23:33:24 Well I remember Sakaguchi said that Blue Dragon had a seperate team working on the CGI (maybe this is the same), which obviously cuts development time, if all the cutscenes had to be done in realtime it would be more work for the programmers. Now granted, there's a smoother transition from cinema to gameplay when you do use the in game engine.. but in some cases, it hardly matters. Same thing with Blue Dragon really, there was a difference, but not big enough to pull someone out of the experience. --- |
