"I am a hardcore Ninja Gaiden fan. I've beaten the game in its multiple forms four times. For my money, Ninja Gaiden Black is the greatest action game of all time. So when I had the opportunity to see ten minutes of Ninja Gaiden 2 in action, I was more than a little psyched. Consider this a friendly warning. If you hated Ninja Gaiden you will not care for anything written below; if you loved NG, then you will leave this article with fewer wrinkles in your pants. Though the demo shows little more than a series of fights, one thing is clear: Ninja Gaiden 2 turns the knob to 11."

After dispatching many nameless ninja, Ryu comes across the military faction, which proved troublesome in the last game. Well, if you found them difficult before, it looks like they will be even tougher in Ninja Gaiden 2. Two military types were shown in the demo. We saw the return of the RPG-toting grunts and the standard submachine gun-carrying foot soldiers. The RPGs appear about as challenging as in the past, but now have a gorgeous smoke plume that rivals Lost Planet for visual awe. It's the foot soldiers that were the most improved. These guys are brutal now and take no mercy on Ryu. Multiple times in the demo, the foot soldier knocked Ryu to the ground and unloaded a full clip into his chest.

To deal with tougher foes, Ryu uses one of his new Ninpo. What is essentially a Tornado Ninpo, the new magic power sweeps up enemies and debris, flinging them around. The tornado also picks up the abandoned limbs on the ground, so arms and heads fly through the air. It's sick. Wonderfully sick.

Awesome I was actually pissed when I saw he was using the scythe thought he'd be a slow ass with it.

Guess not =P Knocking enemies on the ground then hacking them apart? Would love to see that. Apparently there may be specific moves designed to take off a specific body part which could make it deeper than it was before? I think I heard that in their podcast.

Well I saw this video from Kotaku site but without the translation guy.

Anyway...I for one am not gonna use Scythe at all except in thevery beginning when i get it just to see whats up.

Footages are very welcome.

Although this is a DS title, I hope Itagaki is smart enough to make another either Ayane or Hayate arrive in NG2 or a complete new bad ass ninja playable except for Ryu in NG2.

And all those good looking new moves he can do, just makes me imagine how much cooler it is gonna look like on NG2.

I always take the japanese voice over on NG Sigma just for that.

Ryu did some mighty bustin moves there, while the control movement did some advanced wierd stuff...like how the hell does that even work.

Ah well I don't have DS, not gonna buy one, but wanted to compare the DS NG to the NG 2 of what I wanted, meaning new awesome Dragon Sword moves and another playable ninja character, hopefully a young female ninja or Hayate or another male bad ass ninja.

In terms of 3rd person action games, yes, which are my favorite genre.

But don't forget that DMC4 might come out this year, non the less, both is a must buy for me.

The entire TGS press conference is there, but I havent started to download them.

Its in parts, and some guy at TeamXbox says Part 3 is the one with gameplay demonsatration.

I deleted ALL the other parts in que and kept Part 3 :P

The game is CRAZY looking.

Well It actually has the same feel of NG Sigma in terms of smooth animations, visuals...etc. but all the new moves, weapons, features...its crazy!

Once you get hit and you loose health you can recharge, but you can't recharge while fighting, have to stand still.
If you run it will recharge a bit faster.

The Scythe...well its most definitely not a weapon I will choose, although I will try it out a bit.

I see Dragons Claw & Tigers Fang is in it, makes me play NG Sigma right now (which I am :P)

I love the finisher moves, makes it much more brutal and cooler.

I actually notice those new ninja-soldiers with guns had something to them.
Ryu sliced one guys arm off and he kept shooting and running to him.
Confirmes that as long as they can fight they are in. :D

The new weapon, the Fist Claw and Leg Claw was awesome.
Imagine you are Wolverine but now have deadly kicks, more deadly than Van Dammes spinning kick :P

Ryus new ninpo was awesome...I call it Wind of 100 Sword, because it sure as hell looked that way.

Charges up as usual and then he unleashes like a wind tornado and there are like sword slash animation coming out of it and slashes everyone around him.

Another great feature was...no menus to switch stuff.
If you want to switch weapons you do it with the d-pad on the fly.

Another cool thing was, after a fight you can shake the blood off from the weapon, and it was hell of a blood massacre.

Kind of a shame they didn't add that ninpo voice for Ryu when he uses ninpo like in Ninja Gaiden DS, sounds awesome.

Anyway, very awesome game for sure, 2008 is gonna be a bright future for me in terms of games.

Gameplay yes, graphics............HELL NO. It looks totally plain, EXACTLY like Sigma + a bit more blood, meh, I was expecting A LOT more. But they still have some time, so hopefully they improve quite a bit.

Agreed. And it's not like there's an overwhelming number of guys on screen, or lighting, or any physics to speak of to warrant the lack of eye candy. Granted, other levels might have more going on, but it's pretty weak if not.

Like you said though...there's still time.

But I agree.. it's not as stunning as say, Ninja Gaiden was on the original Xbox. It almost goes without saying that it will be an excellent game, but this is sorta becoming a trend, isn't it? Still up there near the top of my most wanted list, and in fact, hasn't shifted at all in that regard, but I was still expecting more.

Yeah, I agree it's nothing impressive so far as NG was back then. The worrying part about it is that He/They make a big deal about it running "REAL TIME" on the "MOST POWERFUL HARDWARE IN THE WORLD" when really, no one was going to doubt it was real time. It seems to be like they don't look at other games, and they just think their game looks fabulous when really it doesn't. DMC looks pretty much the same, and I'd say Heavenly Sword looks a lot better.

They should simply not hype its graphics at all at this point IMO.

I dunno, I'll disagree with him on that point. I think DMC looks awesome. Sure doesn't look anything like the pre-rendered video we were introduced to it with, but it still looks great and I think it will be a really solid game.

DMC4 looks awesome in my opinion, maybe because its on my must buy list.
but aside from that DMC4 has very cool details, motion blur...etc. all the technical terms I am not good with, but it sure looks "hot".

NG2...well graphics are like NG Sigma for sure, for example I did play NG Sigma yesterday and I didn't reconize any graphical changes between that and NG 2, except for more blood and more features or course.

But because I really liked NG Sigmas graphics NG2 is no problem for me, it still looks great.

And all this "REAL TIME" on the "MOST POWERFUL HARDWARE IN THE WORLD", is complete BS and console hype.

I for one don't believe in 360 is better than PS3, or vice versa. Both are great consoles, and it all depends on the devs and their talent of how to make it the hardware in good use.
