Yeah I thought so as well. Better than the E3 version anyway.
Heres the thing with Too Human, they look great in stills, but once the motion starts its when it is very unsure.

The level's textures look bland if you ask me. Other than that, I honestly dont know, not a big fan of the art direction of this game :) Oh well we'll see how it turns out.

This game needs some AA but if the game is zoomed out farther which I suspect to be the case then it wont need some.

The animations are horrible and the directed cutscenes are horrible or should I say undirected cutscenes because it is that horrible.

I dont think the cutscenes where undirected, just poorly executed. Screens look nice, I wish the enemies were also a mix of organic and technology.

And I thought it had more than 2 AA?

Pretty much its nice to see screens, but its all about how it comes together in motion and I think with time SK will do an incredible job of that IF this lawsuit business doesn't interfere with it.

The clip that showed the huge robot attacking that small tavern was awesome, animations are a bit clunky but i still think thats a problem with UE3. (noticed the same thing with the LO demo)

What exactly is happeneing with this game anyways, are they porting it to a new engine or will they continue to use UE3 ?

I thought that Dyack said that video was using "his own" engine, which sounds basically more like a modded UE3, which is what he said he was using in the first place?

They're using a new custom built engine and slowly ebbing out the traces of UE3.

if you say is true RAZ then YES!
Sure it takes time but that's where the delay time is for.
I rather want companies to make their own engine from scratch because the devs then know every technique how to manipulate the engine and make thegame good in any source they got on it.

I would be surprised if they dropped all aspects of the Unreal Engine completely. And why should they anyway? They paid for it and it's a competent engine despite all their crying. They may have something going for them in this lawsuit, but I don't think it's worth a total re-write.

Licensed middleware has a firm place in this industry.. not every developer should be writing their own engine from scratch. At least I don't believe so.

Well whos to say after the legal battle that they will be allowed to use the UE3, sure they paid for it, but how much have they not paid for.. ?

I also think SK may take it as a matter of principle and rewrite the engine, after this i doubt they want any aknowledgement going to Epic.

Yea after this whole thing I doubt they'll want to use anything from Epic.

To me personally I always think a dev using their own engine is always better than whatever graphical bells and whistles they'd get from using someone elses. I think this way we can be more assured of the fact that the developer delivered on their vision the way they wanted to.

I'll just take this opportunity to further the point that PEOPLE SHOULD PLAY THAT GAME.

It really is brilliant, and now that a bizillion percent of the gaming population has a Wii they have no excuse to pass on it.

If you're a fan of horror litterature like Poe and Lovecraft I will stress the what are you waiting for!? aspect of it even more.

I have a hard time believing it could live up to those standards.. but since I'm a fan of both, I guess I'm a prime target for a comment like that.

Depends what you mean by standards really. The game feeds off of the ideas of those two writers pretty extensively. You won't actually hang out with Chthulu or party at the court of Azatoth, but the three main "Gods" to which you can pledge alliance in Eternal Darkness are obviously based very much on the conventions of Lovecraft (or rather in some cases Dereleth's contributions) and a lot of the psychological stuff echoes of Poe.

There are also straight up quotes riddled throughout the game that cite them and other similar writers, much like Too Human will with its influences.

It's certainly not *what makes Eternal Darkness brilliant*, because that credit goes to the gameplay and the surprisingly elaborate RPG elements, but the story tingles all the right spots for someone who appreciates classic horror stuff like A Telltale Heart and The Dreams in The Witch house.

The E3 trailer was poorly made imo. it looked horribly stiff and the clipping of the graphics when he fired the gun was ugly.

What have they been doing ALL these years?

Agreed. It was SOOO clunky and poorly realised. The way he held the guns was dorky and unnatural. The way the guns fired left a lot to be desired. The action simply didn't have any impact at all. Also, minor gripe, Baldur should NOT have been able to slide under the robot's legs as there would have been a giant hole there from where the robot emerged.
