Honestly, the character models look about the same as the PS2 models. At this point, doesn't look all that much better than Tekken 5 DR. Still, people play Tekken for it's gameplay, so that all should be there when it's all said and done. Obviously I'm not a big Tekken fan, but I will still probably get this when it's released. Have a lot of Tekken Fanboys as friends, and I love playing fighting games :P

Well you say that Kenshin but i can't really pick out any faults with the character models.

Perhaps dev's are at a point where it is becoming encreasingly hard to go one step further.

It does look more detailed than both DOA4 and VF5.

They look like the same models from Tekken 5 DR PS3, well slightly better than those models.

They look about on par with some of the characters in VF5, some characters like Kage, Akira for instance, look more detailed than that. And I'm judging by all the media we've seen up to this point, not just those scans. Same goes for DOA4, they all look the same, mostly. Depends on which character you're comparing, some look more detailed than others.

I don't expect this to look leaps and bounds better than Tekken 5 DR, for one it's Namco, and another is that they've got to the point where they can't really improve on the character models that much, given the art style they use.

Well actually, there is the ever famous E3 '05 trailer they showed, but yeah, we all know they will never achieve that level.

I'd like to bring one particular point to light here. Hasn't anybody noticed that you're PSYCHOTIC!? :D

Have you actually played Tekken 5? Even from those tiny shots of T6 you can clearly see the additional detail, and the fact that there's self shadowing going on, which anyone can tell you makes a huge difference, already transports it far beyond what was done in T5. The backgrounds are also EASILY much more detailed.

I'm not saying it's particularly "impressive" per se, because it's prolly difficult to make a jump as significant as that of Tekken Tag over Tekken 3 visually, but the difference is super obvious, and it's a clear improvement over Tekken 5 regardless.

It does look alot better. Like Simon said...it's not that impresive but it is a big difference between the two, if you look at the detail.

have you played Tekken 5 DR on the PS3? I've seen it and played it myself, and after playing that, and looking at those scans, plus the media from a few months back, it is NOT a big improvement. It looks slightly better, so bleh :p


and those IGN screens scream JPEG compression. I'm not saying DR looks great, but it looks better than those screens on the HD set I played it on.

No I haven't played it...I don't own a credit card, It's a faqt that screens look worse then the game in motion.....so if you say it looks better I believe you...

Yup, can't wait to own up on some friends, hope this has an online mode. I don't see a real reason why it shouldn't, unless Namco wants to be bitches about it. They can't use the VF5 excuse

Also, I haven't followed Tekken 6 too much, but has Steve Fox been confirmed to be in the game? That's my guy!

If not, then I can always choose King, and be a cheap little SOB. I just need to grab you, once that happens, all over :p

I'm just saying that the character models don't look all that improved from those. They're improved though, just not what I was expecting. The environments though, look way better. Which is why I never brought those into the discussion :P

It's weird how designs seem to rub off on everyone.

First... well FIRST first had to be the Ryu/Akira thing. I mean..... well yeah. No further explanation needed.

But with my first I wish to point to another first.. the first time in ages VF made attempts to broaden its appeal by adapting Jin and Steve Fox.

Now Jin was a karate guy by the time he got a hoodie and looked all mysterious, but before that he had Jun's judo stuff aswell. Goh Hinogami in VF4: Evo sported a judo style and an eerily similar stance and overall look mixed with a pinch of Kazuya "I'm dead!" hues in face.

Steve Fox bobbed and weaved his way into Tekken 4, and likewise did Brad Burns (Mr Burns? Eeeexcellent..) in VF4: Evo, sporting the exact same hair style and poor choice of clothing.. Despite alledgedly being italian. (!)

Let's see.. I can't guarantee that this doesn't get confusing soon so hold on and keep up.. and also keep in mind that I'm rather pissed to be honest! :D *hic*

SoOoo. Yeah. Then we have Tekken 5 not wanting to miss out on the character theft and grabs an incredibly Aoi looking chick by the tits and drags her into the tournament. Asuka doesn't quite engage in the same activities, but even so.

Aoi! No wait I meant haiya! No, honest!


"What about meee!!?" And Itagaki immediately shows up and puts a sock in it.


Let's stay with DOA4 for a second though and check out Miss Montenegroooonoooowaiiit. It's Le Mariposa! But she's doing essentially the same stuff and wears funky brazilian outfits and is a fucking pain in the butt whenever someone hammers the controls.

DoA also brought in a young looking blonde boy with sort of contemporary clothes and a style that you wouldn't immediatly figure he'd have. Then Leo comes running and looks essentially like Eliot which is where I wanted to arrive with this point.

Also, El Blaze shows up in VF5 looking a bit lost and says "So I'm like.. kicking and doing funky dances too! Love me?" and Sega shows once more that they conmpletely missed the point of long legs, bouncing tits and tropical looking women.

Theeee eeend.

Goodnight my princess of Maine, you kings of.. england I think. Possibly the new one.
