It was HORRIBLE!!!!! Save your money! Avoid it at all costs!!!

Absolutely friggen boring, I nodded off twice in front a giant 60ft 3D screen with the sound turned up to insane levels.............and I still nodded off!

The first hour of the movie Godzilla is no show. The second hour of the film Godzilla appears only in cameos! The last few minutes Godzilla's the star, but you won't care by then. The only thing you'll be asking yourself is what the hell is this movie all about and where's the quickest exit to the parking lot?

First you might say this is a film about the evils of nuclear waste, then you might say this is public service announcement about what can happen when you leave nuclear waste just sitting around so that monsters can throw a BarBQ in the middle of western civilization. Then the film decides to insult your intelligence further by pretending that the last 70 years of nuclear tests were actually about monsters and also that Godzilla is the "key to balance" in the world.

NO........I did not just make that shit up.

This film lays a stink bomb so strong the audience was practically sucking their teeth and grumbling. So boys and girls, how do you fuck up something as easy as Godzilla? Legendary sure knows how.

You're bouleted until people with opinion's I respect and trust post.

However reading your post it sounds like you've never seen the original Godzilla movie, or any Godzilla movie for that matter.

You're kidding right?! I didn't break any forum rules. So I'm being boulted FOR PERSONAL REASONS? So only people whose opinions YOU RESPECT will be allowed in this thread? Wow! Where the fuck did that come from?! I don't care if you don't respect my opinion but do you honestly think it's fair to subject a forum member to your personal censorship?

Look I know more about the original Gojira films than I'm actually comfortable admitting. It was quite the fascination of mine at one time. The un-edited masterpiece that Ishiro Honda made is a much more serious version than the version that got watered down and released to western audiences. It's not hard to get a copy with subtitles so I recommend it. So believe me when I tell you that you're talking to a major member of the Kaiju/ Rubber Suit Monster fan club. I've seen them all, from most popular which includes every Godzilla ever produced, War of the Gargantuas, the Rankin/Bass KK Escapes. To the most obscure films like Yongary- a Korean Godzilla wannabe who gets killed scratching himself to death.

But even if I wasn't the major Godzilla fan that I am, it wouldn't change the fact that your more respected and trusted opinions are going to be agreeing with me after sitting through 75% of this film's absolute boredom. You won't care about anything the humans are doing in the film. In fact you might be laughing at parts the director wanted you to take seriously. The tension and the build up to seeing the King of Monsters for the 1st time is muted. I mean there's a creature taller than anything walking around and he's treated with almost no awe. But then again Godzilla isn't around long enough to inspire any awe. He is literally a GUEST in his own movie.

And by the time Godzilla is given the screen time he so richly deserves (I mean the film is supposed to be about him!) it's too late. The audience wants to cheer but we all feel like a guy who's been dragged to every store in a shopping mall with his wife or girlfriend. You just want to go home.

That's an honest opinion. It shouldn't matter whether you respect it or not Phaethon.

It was an intentionally mean way of saying I'm bouleting you until the movie is out. You're acting as if you got banned, you didn't. I just turned off your post for people wandering into this thread before the movie was even out.

I read a ton of negative hyperbole, someone who posted at almost midnight on the dot, seemed fishy Mikey!

Now, about your thoughts on the movie...

Your criticisms could accurately fit the original movie itself. In fact, all of them do. So I'm inclined to disbelieve you actually have. You could say exactly the same thing about most Godzilla movies for that matter, but especially the first. Very little monster, a lot of investigation and people, and a no show until the end. It was even a tad preachy which you seemed to dislike as well.

The original film was about the extreme consequences of nuclear fallout. This film is the exact opposite. It portrays nuclear weapons as the saviors of the planet for the last 70 years. That governments have not been engaging in reckless nuclear tests but actual killing monsters that are attracted to radiation. The whole thing has been turned on it's head and I wonder how Japanese movie goers will feel about that. Legendary basically re-wrote the last 70 years of our planet's military history.

Look, it's not a complicated point I'm trying to make here at all either. All I'm saying is that a film with the name Godzilla should at least star Godzilla. There's a team of soldiers running around San Francisco trying to recover a nuke before it gets eaten. Even they have more screen time than Godzilla has in the entire film

Well, of course there would be a different view of "The Bomb" for one country who dropped it, and the other country that was victimized by it. I don't think the new Godzilla movie was a retelling of that. However both movies hinted at the worse events in their countries history. Japan being Hirosima, and the United States being the events of 9/11. But in fairness to the new Godzilla movie, they did make a reference to the Hirosima bombing.

They did. I thought the moment that Dr Serizawa handed the Admiral his watch to be very meaningful. The Admiral seemed to be listening at the time but he still went through with his plans. And even though Ford wanted to stop it, a nuke was STILL UNNECESSARILY detonated on top of all the carnage between Godzilla and the Muto. In hind sight that sort of made the moment between the Admiral and the Doctor a little empty and hollow.

yeah, it did become a moot strategy. not only was it (the bomb) not needed, but Godzilla just shrugged it off like a cheap bottle of whiskey.

That was good stuff. His best moment though was when he seized open the jaws of the female Muto as was like, "Here bitch, have a breath mint!"

That's the stuff we all came to see Loakum. If there had been just a few more moments like that I would have been happy.

We'll get on it, right after Alimokrane tallies the GOTY votes...!

I haven't seen it yet, but from my Kaiju faithfuls everyone was pleased by it. I think that's because most of them are familiar with the pacing of films like the original, Godzilla 1985 and Godzilla 2000. I never thought people who'd never seen a Godzilla film would be pleased by this, but it's unfortunate that the last minute groupies are acting as if they grew up on it. Shameful.

Thanfully I bouleted Grimethong's post when I did so that his pleas of protest didn't stop Godzilla from having the best opening of 2014! http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3844&p=.htm No need to thank me, I'm just doing my job.

Hopefully we get a sequel, Pacific Rim 2 is already being thought out. Nothing stops this Kaiju revival!

Also if you want a movie where the namesake is on screen for the entire time may I suggest you checkout Captain Phillips and avoid The Perfect Storm. *rimshot*

I really hope they make a sequel and this time be on Monster Island. The thought of seeing a realistic modern version of King Ghidorah is beyond epic! I really enjoyed this latest Godzilla movie, in fact I seen it twice. Now, I hope I can find a great bootleg copy of it..

I'm giving you shit for giving shit. It's a fair trade.

If you want to get technical

1.) You posted a potentially spoiler filled review with no attempt to spoiler tag it.
2.) You posted said review before the movie was EVEN out in theaters.
3.) You bordered on trolling with negative hyberbole out the wazoo while you did all that.

All those things constitute trolling in my book. So excuse me if I told you I'd wait on some more opinions before I regarded yours to "avoid this movie like a stink bomb before you fall asleep twice in the IMAX".

All this drama because I didn't want you to spoil and shit on people's expectations of this movie prior to release. I didn't even ban you. And if you looked up your terrible post was un-bouleted yesterday (coincidentally or because the movie is out, you decide). I'm getting tired of having to spoiler-tag people's posts too.
