Final Fantasy XI sequel entitled "Confabulated Nova Crystallis" for (PS3/ Xbox360/ WindowsVista) rumours

I run into this today:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?...

"The Japanese review Nihon Keizai Shimbun indicates in its pages that a Final successor Fantasy XI is currently under development on PS3 and Xbox 360 in the studios of Enix Public garden. New title of the project Confabulated Nova Crystallis, or all new episode of the series, only the future will say it to us. "

It's being reported by gamespot as well, this time mentioning a Windows Vista Version as well

http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/finalfantasy11/...

"Though it was the centerpiece of Microsoft's E3 2005 press briefing, the Xbox 360 edition of Final Fantasy XI hasn't really taken off. As of the end of May 2006, the next-gen console edition of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game has sold just 72,194 copies in the US, according to the NPD group.

FFXI's lackluster showing on the 360 is in large part due to the fact that the game has been available on the PC and PlayStation 2 since 2003 and 2004, respectively. Now, though, it appears that an all-new FFXI is in the works for Microsoft's next-gen console--as well as its prime competitor.

According to a Monday report on Nikkei.net, "Square Enix will develop a sequel to Final Fantasy XI ... for three platforms: Sony Computer Entertainment’s next-generation PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, and the Windows Vista PC operating system."

The Nikkei report was short on details, containing neither a release date nor an official title for the FFXI sequel. Attempts to contact American Square Enix reps for clarification and confirmation had gone unanswered as of press time. However, as Windows Vista won't be available until 2007, the PC edition of the game would likely not launch until next year--at the earliest.

Problem with MMO's they take over your life ..

Will be interesting to see screens, espeically if they rival what was shown at the Microsoft briefing E3 05.

Down with life draining mmos I wont lie world of warcraft was good, but I'll now NEVER play another mmo again its the only games I'd play then feel guilty for playing it afterwards. Complete and utter waste of time.

Never judge a game too harshly via screenshots or videos, because they are in no way capable of properly representing what the game truly looks like were you to see it running in front of you on a 360

My problem with MMO's is that I like the way they play and that they have open worlds that you can do what you want and can build up your own character, but they always end up being boring with way to many time sinks that take up way to much time. I would love a single player game that played similar to an MMO but wasn't a boring waste of time.

I hope the SE guys at least try something different this time and don't just make it a carbon copy of another game, but I get the bad feeling it will just be a WOW clone since that seems to be the popular game these days.

It will probably be a clone of FFXI more than WoW, just with better graphics.

Hopefully it will end up being a cute TFLO style MMO, I might consider playing it if it was.

I probably won't play this. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't. FFXI took up 5gigs on my HDD. I'm not willing to clear space for it. FFXI scarred me from console MMOs forever. Well, except for the Marvel MMO game. But thats being developed exclusively for Xbox 360, so it has to work with a controller. But I'll see about this one. Like FFXIII, if it looks graphically impressive, it'll gain my interest.

I'm not a huge MMORPG player. I don't have time for them. I think my biggest problem was that I was given Star Wars Universe as a birthday present . Little did I know, those 4 discs would change my life forever... Only MMORPG I play now is Oblivion :).

Go ahead and say it, I know you want to...

No, No, the other thing...

WRONG!!
Yesterday's report that Square Enix was working on a follow-up to their MMO Final Fantasy XI has been shot down by the publisher.

As the Company announced in May 2005, it is currently developing an online title for next-generation platforms including game consoles and PCs; however, this title is being developed as a completely new MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online RPG). We will disclose further details of this title, including platform compatibility, immediately after any relevant decisions are made.

While one mystery has been shot down, another surfaces, what exactly is Square Enix working on in the MMO space?

It's been speculated that SE's next MMO could be something to do with the World of Mana series.

So i wouldn't bet on it being a Final Fantasy game.
