This week also saw the release of The Darkness II on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC and we are now able to propose a few videos of what happens after the end of the game's demo. For the same price, you are getting three videos of the 360 version and one of the PC version. You should be aware that the latter is presented in 1080p and 60 fps but that its content may also shock the most prude among you.
After a first episode that had its flaws but which conveyed a great atmosphere, fans were a bit concerned about The Darkness II. There are probably several reasons for that: Starbreeze no longer was in charge of developing the game, the graphics had taken the cel shaded path and, last but not least, it seemed to be even more action oriented than before.
In the end, I think the art style works pretty well here, but that's probably a matter of taste. As for gameplay, it has been improved a lot since the first installment, the controls being more responsive and less awkward. You will also see in the videos below that Digital Extremes did not forget to add more peaceful sequences during which you can take your time to chat with your friends.
The game's atmosphere is still one of the game's strengths and killing bad guys is a lot of fun, with the mix of shooting and decapitating you'd come to expect from Jackie Estecado. There is however something quite disappointing with The Darkness II. The main problem is that it probably won't take you more than 5 to 6 hours to complete the main story mode, which is rather short even in today's standards.
Zero interest in seeing WW. Gadot is terrible, and to be honest, really sick of comic book films. Well, DC and Marvel stuff, anyway. (2 minutes ago)
now they're fucked because they're just continuing with Snyder's universe which ruined the biggest relationship of all Batman and Superman. I don't know what they're thinking (1 Hour ago)
they fucking ruined Superman. That's why BvS was so fucking dark and a downer. He's supposed to be the opposite of Batman not the same. That dynamic is ruined as soon as that route was taken for $$$$$ (1 Hour ago)
for a long time. I don't know if anyone here collects comics, but no one likes Aquaman period. Wonder Woman and Cyborg have never had a strong presence. I could go on and on (1 Hour ago)
also another major problem is the only relevant hero that's cool among the bunch is still Batman. Which is why Superman gets to just be him dark and brooding. No ones cared about the rest of this team (1 Hour ago)
the reaching for dollars instead of practicing any patience is really difficult to ignore. They could have done all solo films first, taken their time and made the same money (1 Hour ago)
there's no character depth with any of them which is a huge problem. It all feels slapped together, and the chemistry really suffers most as a result. An ensemble movie as constructed is going to suck (1 Hour ago)
