Our PC videos of DiRT 4

Our PC videos of DiRT 4

After the disappointment of the first stages in Michigan, DiRT 4 has shown us its potential, with the narrow and curvy roads of Wlaes, Spain, Sweden and Australia. That being said, you must keep in mind that this new installment in the series is nowhere near the complexity of DiRT Rally, but is however much closer to the first Colin McRae games than the first 3 DiRT when you choose the simulation mode. Although the driving is more forgiving than in DiRT Rally, it is still interesting enough once you've left the R2 cars behind, but we believe Codemasters will have a hard time convincing those who are into hardcore simulations. Those with a more open mind will disover a fun game to play that can offer enough realism to maintain their interest for a little while, until DiRT Rally is announced maybe?

Note: We're still experiencing issues with 4K capture so you might see some frame drops that will not be due to your PC. If the Mirillis Action! counter does not drop, it's not the game.

Note 2: So the game remains steady at 60 fps in 4K, we had to set shadows to high and turn off advanced ambient occlusion and advanced blending. That way, the game is smooth with a GTX 1080, except during replays when frames can drop (it also happens in 1080p though). 1080p footage was recorded with ultra settings (with advanced blending activated).

Miscellaneous bits (lossless/4K/PC)

Australia #1 (compressed/4K/PC)
Australia #2 (compressed/4K/PC)

DiRT 2 is probably still codemasters best looking DiRT game.

GriftGFX Then you start getting into proprietary software hell and potentially preventing other developers from writing innovative software solutions themselves. It's a WEIRD idea. (7 Hours ago)

GriftGFX and game engine graphics pipelines or even programming interfaces for their products. None of that is their role in the whole thing.. and it shouldn't be. (7 Hours ago)

GriftGFX @Sdarts: Nvidia and AMD already do help developers with optimization more than they should have to. Nvidia and AMD should be improving the hardware and driver end of the technology and not worrying (7 Hours ago)
