Capcom has announced during the 2011 CES two new characters of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds which are Phoenix and Haggar. Screens and videos inside.
Wow at Phoenix, she looks awesome. She takes a shit load of damage but thats almost to be expected considering she has a Dark side too which her health bar seems to start over once she enters that mode and slowing drains afterwards.
Haggar plays just like i envisioned he would. Not bad at all to me.
EDIT: I like the look and how the stages are animated in this game. They look quite good.
This game looks amazing. I sometimes am not fond of the artwork for some of the characters, but the fact that they don't even look like polygonal models unless you are close is pretty fantastic. It's also animated very well. Definitely the best looking game of its type so far.
2011 = Fighting games return with a vengeance! DOA 3DS, Street Fighter vs Tekken, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Marvel vs Capcom, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur....
Only NeoGAF avoided heartbreak by putting (Jean Grey) in front of Phoenix and prevented YYYYEESSSSSSSS PHOENIX WRIGHT AT LAST mind blowage followed by a loud thud noise when head hit desk in disappointment. :)

When I heard Phoenix, not once did I think of Phoenix Wright. I suppose that's due to me being more of a comics fan than a Phoenix Wright fan.
Or wasn't around for the Tatsunoko vs Capcom Phoenix lobbying. :)
Apparently they had him in that at a point but like Digi Matrix points out, they struggled to make moves fit. Allegedly. To be honest, if Sega could make you play as the Daytona car in Fighter's Megamix, I think there's a way to let you play as Phoenix Wright. Who has arms. And legs.
I don't really find it that difficult personally. Phoenix has a lot of animations in game that would work as funny fighting moves. His pointing, his slamming the desk, his referencing a document. All of his expressions; OBJECTION!!, RIGHT THERE!!, HOLD IT!! all work as funny fighting lingo, and there are plenty of court related props to use in special attacks. Hell, Baby Bonnie Hood from Capcom's own Darkstalkers fights almost exclusively by having things fly out of her basket. :P
So yeah, when they *decide* to put Phoenix Wright in there I'm sure they'll figure it out.

Oh man, I want a gif of referencing the document! That's the one of him slapping the paper right?

There was SSF4, and a new BlazBlue in 2010, and Tekken 6 and a great Soul Calibur game that's way underrated recently enough. Fighting games didn't go anywhere and lol Mortal Kombat.
