That bit at the end were he ataches a man to a jumbo jet class, would love to do that to some people on this planet.

a jetliner? Really? sheesh... I don't like this game at all. :(

*facepalm*
I have a pretty strong gut feeling that anyone who wants to enjoy this game should throw away his high expectations.

I'm not opposed to unrealistic physics and ridiculously intense action, but - this does not look good in any way I look at it. Basejumping and pulling the chute about 5 meters above the ground, then immediately shooting straight forward? Barrels that explode on impact? A gas tank with a small leak shooting itself away sans a person attached to it?

You Just Cause fans, please explain. Is this game supposed to be ridiculous?

I've never played Just Cause, but I'd just like to point out that there's no sound in space, people can't shoot energy out of their hands, dragons do not exist, aliens would not speak English and in real life you die when you jump of a tall place.

In summary; why do you even play video games?

I know... looks like a computer game doesnt it? you remember those.. they occasionally offer escapism, and allow you to do crazy things not possible in real life in the name of something called "fun"

Well, why do I complain. There's people who like good ideas, and then there's people who think Prototype was a great game.

My problem is not the unrealistic aspect (as I already said). It could have energy-shooting alien dragons who speak perfect English in space for all I care. There are unrealistic games that are great, and then there are unrealistic games which just look outright stupid like Just Cause 2.

And it's not just this ridiculous physics-engine that bugs me - pretty much everything else I've seen in this trailer smells like "barely worth a rental".

Then why bother commenting at all eh? If I felt I had to comment about every game I wasn't going to buy, there wouldn't be enough time in the day for me to keep up with them all.

It's called criticism. But you're right, it's not worth my time.

Looks decent, the first one was mediocre. I'm fine with the absurd action, but in the first one everything was so jerky. They way he would just lock on and superman jump at any vehicle seemed poorly done. Hijacking was a little better in mercenaries/prototype.

Dude, Prototype was/is fucking awesome. No other game can touch it's adrenaline-pumping experience and sandbox combat. So, get better on trolling.

Yes, and it's supposed to be blindingly obvious that the stunts are ridiculous, how can you not tell? The whole reason for it existing is to be ridiculously over the top.

Every time I see that pic on top with the guy on that Airplane I wish it would be a new 2D type of game ala Contra ! Man I would love a fight going on against some Bosses or so. Maybe he has to protect the plane or get in later and the fight goes on there !

Prototype is Crackdown 2, and funnily enough, Crackdown 2 itself is going down the infected zombies route and changing world found in Prototype. I love Crackdown, but Prototype takes the cake in terms of stuff you can do and never get bored with.

SimonM7 Sorry, imagine THEM standing on THEIR own I meant to say. (9 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 The games counterpart is the interaction, the rules of it, the mechanics. Yet many seem to vastly value its storytelling component over those. Or rather, be unable to imagine it standing on its own. (11 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Sure, but games are much more than storytelling devices, unlike movies. Sure, a song can move you with lyrics, but we listen for the melody, something a book can't give us. (13 minutes ago)

Ronsauce If paintings/sculptures /movies/fashion can all be praised for their esthetics, I'm sure games can too. (17 minutes ago)
  • Ronsauce
Ronsauce @SimonM7: I always thought the debate was whether games were art, NOT whether they are their own artform...which they would be if they were art in the first place. (20 minutes ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer ATI makes the crappiest GPU's seriously, my GPU keeps freezing and crashing my computer after a 30 min intense workout. Didn't the 360 ATI GPU have the same problem? Cheap bastards (1 Hour ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah. We harp on about games supposedly being their own artform, yet the majority of players value the aspects shared with other mediums the most. Not exactly an airtight case. (1 Hour ago)
