GSY Live and gifts with GOG

GSY Live and gifts with GOG

As you know, this week saw the release of two pretty cool horror games with Little Nightmares and Outlast 2, which allowed us to bring you some nice gameplay footage. Yesterday we were pleasantly surprised to be contacted by GOG for a proposal we just couldn't refuse. Indeed, the DRM free online retailer asked us if we would be interested in running a giveaway for you guys. As we have limited means, it's not always easy to find nice rewards to thank you all for your continuing support, so we did not hesitate. As a result, we have 6 keys to offer (3 for each of the 2 aforementioned games) with no strings attached. All you have to do is tune in on Twitch for our next livestream dedicated to those 2 titles, on Thursday at 8:30 p..m CEST. Cooperating with GOG is, we believe, a good opportunity to reward you with games, so we truly hope we'll be able to do it again in the future. Now, because we don't have much to give them in return, it seems only fair to share with you a few of the exclusive deals going on on GOG these days.

Currently on GOG

► Some of you may have mentioned it in our forums or in the shoutbox, one of the best deals for anyone interested in horror games is undeniably the one that lets you have Inside for free if you purchase Little Nightmares. If you have never played Playdead's masterpiece, here's a pretty good reason to put your money down. The offer will last until May 12.

► Halloween is still 6 months away, but GOG is currently proposing a big sale on horror games and you only have until Sunday midnight (CEST) to take advantage of it.

Outlast 2 is obviously also available on GOG if you prefer to go through hell without having to endure the nightmare of DRM. Note that buying the first episode and its newly released sequel will grant you a discount.

► More Outlast 2 with an interview of Red Barrels co-founder Philippe Morin. Because we don't always have the chance to interview developers, we thought you might be interested in reading this.

Great partnership! You guys deserve it and I hope you guys get more cooperation from GOG and other companies as well in te future.

PS. Since you already played Outlast 2, you should make Blim play it. In a dark room.

I hope the keys go to the people who support you on Patreon.

It would make sense, but for that they'll still need to join us on the livestream. Let's hope they'll show up.

That's the thing, when people see they can get free stuff, suddenly there's a spike in viewership - Humanity at its best. lol

Yeah maybe. But do not forget that it's also the point of that kind of partnership ;) That may be a bait, but as long as it works and it increases the audience then it simply works as intended. If more people come, should it only be for freebies, it's still more people coming on Gamersyde, we all win! :)

I would agree, but only if a significant percentage of the new people stick to Gamersyde. I don't want to sound cynical, but if they just come for freebies and then go away, Gamersyde still won't have increased its audience. Meaning that point of the partnership wasn't achieved.

Like I said, I don't want to sound cynical, but I've seen many situations like this over the years and they rarely work as intended. Be it on the internet or in real life. I hope it works very well for Gamersyde. I really do. But I won't be surprised if it doesn't.

Anyway, I don't want to bring anyone down with my opinions. We'll see how it goes.

PS. This is a great chance Gamersyde has to retain a lot of new members, so it shouldn't be missed. I vote Drift and Blim start singing during the livestream, that will certainly put a big smile on people's faces.

Yeah we'll see. It's a great opportunity. And I think that once you've seen the difference between high quality and low quality content you cannot go back. ;)

Well, to be fair, they're not going to see high quality content on Twitch. ^^

Sure, but there's no doubt you'll advertise or at least tease your content to the new comers during this stream ;)

For true high quality twitch content you need facecam and dx racer chairs. ^^

I just saw the post now, I had completely forgotten about it. Today an event started on Warframe and this wasn't even on my mind. It also didn't help that the news was posted so long ago without any new post to remind. I know it was at the top of the page, but modern life is so hectic that it just slips away.

As for no one else showing up, perhaps because it's on a week/working/school day. This would probably be better if done on the weekend. Still, very surprised no one else showed up.

At least you got 2 keys - 1 for Little Nightmares and 1 for Outlast 2. So congrats!

PS. The other 4 keys should be given to Patreon members for their support, and to be fair, just use any free software to choose winners from a list of names and that's it.

I think it's too bad, Blim and Drift do a really good job streaming imo.

Absolutely. I always, always download the Gamersyde livestream replays when I'm not able to watch it live. In my case, it's that usually at the time when they're streaming is right after work. So it's hard to always be on time.

Of course, sometimes I just simply don't wanna know much about a game that I'm definitely going to play. But this is rare.

Also, before they used to livestream the English part after the French part, meaning it was later. But for some reason a few months ago they started livestreaming the English part first and the French last.

It may seem like an excuse, but I've lost count of how many times I've seen the "BlimBlim We're live now. Come join us! [url] (1 Hour ago)" message. Always that damn " 1 Hour ago". And then when I went to join it, it was the French livestream. Which if was like before, I would have joined as soon as the English livestream started or halfway through.

I always feel bad and I hope more people start watching the livestreams as well. But as simple as it is to remember a single date and time, I deal with so many info and things in my life everyday that unless it's something really important, I just end up forgetting. Not sure if that applies to other people, but that's what happens with me.

In this case, I believe what happened was that anyone interested had already bough/played either or both of these games and didn't want to watch something that they're about to play or have just played. Normally, with games that haven't been released yet, there's at least 5-10 people watching. If it's a very popular game, 20-30 people. Hopefully things will improve in the future.
