Maybe the first DB game that looks like the anime itself. Hopefully they can be dirty and ripped clothes. If I can play it with Japanese audio with English subs then I'm in :)
Love the artsyle, and Arc System Works knows how to do great Fighting games. Guilty Gear and BlazBlue are some of the best Fighting games' franchises. Along with Persona 4 Arena games. And this isn't Arc System Works' first Dragon Ball game, they also made Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 1 and 2, for Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, respectively.
The only thing I don't like is the transitions between rounds, when a character is defeated and another enters the stage. The scene and the animations are great. And the first couple times you see it are very nice, but after that it gets real old real fast, and all you want is for it to be over so the match can continue. If I felt this while watching, I imagine it will be much worse for those playing.
Also, the fact that there seems to be only one, makes it even more annoying. If they can't make 10 or more of these transitions, I which they would just do what other Fighting games do. Just watching the two videos was more than enough for me, and both of them combined only last 5 minutes. Hopefully it's something you can switch off at the very least. Other than that, the game looks fantastic.
The 2D Dragon Ball versus fighter that everyone's been waiting for since the f***ing 90's has finally arrived on home consoles and now that I'm grown up and shit, i couldn't care less about this shitty anime franchise. But I'll admit that it looks great visually. Gotta love Arc for their solid adaptions, well done. Now make me a new Hakuto No Ken VS Fighter, would you please ?

Forget the source, if you like something enough, try it. You never know, you might end up liking it a lot. I do the same sometimes, for example: I don't care about Forza Motorsport, but Forza Horizon is just epic.

You do realize this game is actually a 3d polygon engine but with a 2 dimensional "looking" perspective do you?

That's why you call it a 2D fighter or a 2.5D fighter, if you really need to emphazise that it uses 3D models. Since none of you is blind I skipped the .5
