Released in 2012 then in 2016 on PC, Capcom's fantasy RPG Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen will see the light again on October 3rd, this time on PS4 and Xbox One.
Definitely buying this. I really hope a sequel is in the works.
The director said on twitter back in December 2016 that his next game is gonna be announced this year, its probably DMC but i would much rather DD2.
I just don't get this. Dragon's Dogma 2 should be out now that we are almost 4 years into this gen. Why are they only releasing an upscale port of this now?
People usually complain about this type of upscale "remaster" but this one just seems to be getting a free pass from everyone even with how late it is.

The first game didn't meat sales expectations, it was an awesome game with some quirks though. People really want a sequel and if this does well maybe Capcom will see there is a demand for it. Open world rpgs are so popular this gen so hopefully a sequel is in the works already
It looks like just a port of the pc version from January 2016 and its priced appropriately, $30.
A big reason why im excited is because the last gen console versions were horrible so im glad i can finally play it on better hardware

But they weren't "terrible". Mass Effect Andromeda is a "terrible" current gen console version of a game that runs really bad. Just Cause 3 is a "terrible" current gen game that simply does not hold up to Just Cause 2's very well done and optimised releases on the last gen consoles.
Dragon's Dogma had some screen tearing stuff I remember and that's about it.
"People really want a sequel and if this does well maybe Capcom will see there is a demand for it. Lol well maybe they could have released it on PS4 and XB1 in 2014 when there were weeks without any games, even months on XB1 without a single new release.
So if this sells well, they might start work on a sequel? Excellent so we can expect it around 2019 or 2020, probably by the time PS5 will be launching and that sequel will suffer in sales because people will have moved onto the next console.
I still find their timing completely baffling. And where in the world is Deep Down?

Of course the timing is really dumb but i don't care as long as we get a sequel and i still want to play the first game as well. Also if they start working on a sequel now it would more likely be after 2020 so it wouldn't really be a ps5 launch title but more of a 2014/15 equivalent of this gen so would be perfect timing. But i still hope a sequel is already in the works with a 2018/19 release date
The ps3/360 versions weren't awful but i wouldn't call them good either. They looked imo terrible graphically and had big framerate issues, screen tearing was a 360 only issue i think.
Deep down is supposedly still in development but its not a f2p game anymore so it will probably be a completely different game if it comes back. The panta rei engine didn't work out for them either so add another reason to the pile as to why that game went dark. Many people thought it was dragons dogma 2 for a while when it was announced...

Deep down? They actually showed off a lot of real time gameplay demos at tgs so it wasn't completely bs. The game weirdly wasn't even officially confirmed for a western release though. It looked like a decent f2p dungeon crawler with some weird futuristic stuff but obviously it didn't work out
Hilarious how nostra is calling it a "bullshotmovie" yet we HAVE games this gen on PS4 that beat it in every single way technically. If anything, Horizon Zero Dawn proves Deep Down was easily realtime ingame graphics, especially with its closed up interior dungeon only setting.
Personally I wouldn't mind the 4 Ratchet and Clank "Future" series games from last gen given the upscale port treatment given that it is Tools of Destruction's 10th anniversary this year.

Capcom filed a second trademark for the game this year in February, so i do still think it's in the pipeline. seems a lot of devs are backing out of their initial F2P idea, and i definitely see this being the same. in which case i imagine it's going to take a while to create something new that people want to actually pay for. wouldn't be shocked to see it re-revealed this TGS.

it was even "feel of 60 fps" ... but it was none like the first bullshot dark souls rip-off trailer.
It as a generic random dungeon crawler slow walking/horrible combat hit-detection proof of concept. It just had those UE4 fad particles and then there was nothing to write home about what was made at that point.
Even the newer trailer, promised a glimpse to some kind of dumb Real world VR/fantasy medieval dungeon metagame like Ass Cred was just way too much Capcom "we don't know wtf we are doing"shenanigans.

Did they just port it? No AA or any improvement?
