Xbox 360 PS3

Codemasters today released a demo for GRID on the Marketplace while PSN and PC demos are planned to go up later this week. Here are some images and a video from the quite impressive demo. As you will see in the video, the AI is pretty rough and won't hesitate to use heavy force to go past you. As you play the demo, you'll see that the game is more Arcade than sim - meaning that some people won't like the way the game use drifting, but personally I like what I've seen so far.
Update: First video is up, one lap in Germany.
Update 2: Drifting event in Yokohama!
Update 3: Let's be done with the best looking track of the three: San Francisco. I'm sure the fans of MSR and the first PGR will be delighted to see that track!

Just tried the demo, really didn't like it. Handling is just as unrealistic as DIRT's, just as much bloom and grey as DIRT as well. Another pass for me...

Well it's not too bad other than the brown shade to everything. I know for a fact that sun does not give out brown rays.

No, but it does give out orange light, not white ;)

hell yeah it is. especially for its arcade style of driving, the handling is shit.

only good thing i can say about the game is that the replay on the mustang race is freaking amazing. its like a car chase sequence from a movie. especially with the music. beyond that tho, graphics wernt great, OTT motion blur, and some of the worst controls for a racing game i've come across. that central pivot turning system is even more pronounced in this game then it was in DiRT.

After playing this demo, I went right back to GTA IV and have been enjoying driving in that game so much more.

Yeah, two entirely different games, and the physics in GTA are so over the top hollywood style...still...the handling makes much more sense than it does in this game. Probably the weirdest handling/physics I've ever seen in a videogame.

The art direction is nice but 30fps for a racing game..?! No thanks.

if 360 is using 4aa at 720p res with locked 30 fps (no stutter, no tear) for something so complex as driving game, ATI guys were very much spot on 3 years ago

One side of me loves the whole presentation of the game, it is really well made. The other side of me is just disgusted by the gameplay and the physics most of all. The physics are the most redicoulus I've seen in a while. When you get out of the track you automaticaly spin 180°, when you hit someone from behind chances are you spin 180°. Also when you get hit from behind it doesn't affect you AT ALL, instead the car behind you spins 180°.

The gameplay has no upsides but being accessable. The steering has no feel to it, no feedback at all, way too arcady for me. The car feels like it's floating (no body roll or any body movement at all)

It's a real shame. When I loaded up the game I didn't expect that much to begin with, but it felt surprisingly fresh. They said they were heading for a mix of Sim/Arcade feel for the game but the game is just arcade, the sim elements just feel cosmetic. PGR had the best mix of Sim/Arcade in a racing game I've ever played. Whished they'd do the same but this is just disapointing.

BMW demo in Jarama - very disappointing, it was just, erm, floaty. But the street racing in SF was much, much better!

I enjoyed the demo pretty much. But I've always been a fan of Codemasters racing games. Just disappointed that they dropped what they had with the Toca series. I also wish they'd get rid of the drifting.

Most of you guys must be playing a different game to me because it looks great and handles really well, first racing game in ages where the cars really feel like they have some weight.
I really hated Dirt because it ran like crap and had loads of tearing but codemasters have redeemed themselves with this game

I liked this game. Car handling was a bit strange sometimes but overall I enjoyed this. I have to say that drifting was horrible but I never liked it in the Need for Speed series. Menus and replays are cool. I especially like how you can use triggers to control the speed of the replay. I liked to watch smoke in really slow motion :p

Great looking game that has absolutely nothing to do with RACING.

Motor-propelled bobsledding. Jebus.

But the 30fps, motion blur, 4x fsaa, gazillion cars on screen and great scenery are nice. Would make a great, erm, 70 euro tech demo for the graphics engine. You know, with some sort of quake-guy handling bolted on just like here.

I believe Codemasters were attempting to dethrone PGR but forgot it actually has entertaining handling, with four wheels on a car and all that jazz.
