PS3

Konami and Metal Gear again, now with nine new (for sure this time) images of Metal Gear Online. The multiplayer mode of MGS3 was a little bit special but far from uninteresting, with some luck it could be something really cool. Can't wait for a PSN demo!

Suddenly alotsa people who never reacted on a MGS topic are spreading their hate around. It's a sad thing that happens to 'certain' games when it's release is near by 'certain' people who either won't buy it or don't have the matching console to play it.
This online stuff is put in by Kojima because he wanted to expand the fanbase. He knows that in the west people are more into online multiplayer-gaming.
MGS3:Subsistence wasn't a 'huge' succes (mostly played by fans) but it did give the world a taste of what an online metal gear is like. He hopes that he can expand that a bit further now with MGS4 by throwing in the MGO starterpack for free.
Anyway my point is, you people are going to get something extra for free. Something to try out. So just wait untill the game comes out, try it and afterwards complain about it if you want.

What are you talking about? What I don't get is why people defend something which looks bad. If it looked great, praise it; if not, make sure the devs know they need to work harder next time. If The Cell is powerful enough to launch NASA space shuttles and destroy the planet in all out nuclear warfare, certainly MGS4 could look better than this. MGS4 is supposed to be the #1 PS3 game. I'm sure it will play great, and I can't wait to play it, but I'd sure assume it would look better this mess. Being that they're Asian devs, and Asian devs aren't up to Western quality visuals yet, is an excuse that can only go so far.

Getpwned, keep in mind the GAME IS NOT FINISHED. You're already judging graphics on a game that isn't even out of the door yet. The game doesn't even look that bad IMO. Just wait and see how things play out and then judge the damn thing.

I don't understand what's the hate with graphics...especially for a MGS game.

I saw the beta test from last year.. the game looks good and fun. For the people whining and bitching that the game won't be fun. Fair enough. The series has a big enough fanbase that no one really cares what these peole say.

People liked the original Metal Gear Online... the reason why people left was because of glitches.. something no on could do anything about. they're fixing that problem, and making it so it can stand on its own two feet.

..... and for the people saying it doesn't look as good as MGS4..... uh.... it's using the EXACT same engine.. meaning it's the exact same game, but without all those stuff like story, scenes, music, dozen of codec moments, and stages in the original game. It's a different car, but the same model...

Yes because this is another FPS we all are getting sick of /sarcasm.

Try more like GRAW series or SOCOM.

I just hope you won't have to shoot someone a ridiculous amount of time just to kill them to also see the lamest and fakest death animation.

I'm spoiled by the close to perfect, for now, Call of Duty 4... Sorry.

I still love ya Kojima.

P.s. For the record I dig the MGS series but have always hated the flying death animations. LAME. Kills any sense of Realism.

As great as Kojima's games are, I think we've all grown to accept the fact that realism is the last thing we're going to get from an MGS title.

A shooter is a shooter, and as far as most are concerned, COD4 is one of the best. MGO looks like your typical Asian developed game. Invisible energy people, HUD taking-up half the screen at all times, stupid words and symbols floating all over everyone as they move. I don't know why they are having such a hard time with the immersion factor of next-gen game development. Immersion is a huge factor in what makes a game great.

Yes shooter is shooter, but even shooters got its own genre department you know.
Third perspon shooter and first person shooter.

I for one don't think it makes any sense to to compare a FPS to a TPS.

MGO is in the GRAW and SOCOM department, which is TPS, those games are known for its online.

COD4 and Halo 3...etc. is in FPS.

And yeah I do agree with that the whole big icons and stuff all over the screen is a bit stupid and they need to make it a bit more "slick" and good to look at.

I think his point, which is actually somewhat valid, is that there are very few multiplayer shooters coming out of that region that are actually worth playing. I don't think it's a limitation of the Japanese game industry or anything like that, it's just that this form of gaming hasn't been a primary focus of their game developers, like it has for many in the west.

I really doubt that people will hold this to as high of a standard in that regard either though. It probably won't have the lifespan of your typical FPS.. but that doesn't mean it won't be worth playing for those MGS fans who need an additional fix.

And while third person shooters are often quite different than FPS, that's certainly not always the case.

I know what you mean.
I guess if you are into MGS type gameplay and want to take it online this is for you, simple.
But how it will turn out in terms of how much online players there will be is yet to be seen.
