Xbox 360 PS3

The official website for Grand Theft Auto IV has just been updated with these new images. Some more beautiful than others, overall I think we will all agree, considering the sheer amount of things in this game, that it looks awesome.

This game will be stunning in every way. Sound, visuals, gameplay. It will set the bar for the rest to look up to.

I can't believe there are people complaining about how this game looks. Rockstar have shown absolutely nothing of the overall game so far. People complaining about framerate and textures just need to shut the fuck up until they play it. Some people need their heads examined.

When I first seen GTA3 on video and on screen shots, it looked OK, but not great. When I first played the game, I was stunned at how well it looked actually seeing it on the screen.

Please refrain from using agressive terms ok? Everyone has an opinion, and just because you don't agree with some, does not mean they need to be treated this way. Thanks!

Quake Burgers Can't wait to find out just how many brands they've done homages or rediculed in this game.

Also I think some of you need to bear in mind, the quality in these screenshots isn't bad at all. It looks grainy because that's the way the game is supposed to look like. If you look back at the GTAIV screenshot history, you'll notice that every single screen has that grainy "look" to it. I strongly believe that this is an implemented effect to the graphics engine, and not badly compressed image quality.

I understand. But when an opinion is just ridiculous and consistently and blatantly issued it just becomes a nonsense and really annoying to read. Another thing, I believe a product of this kind of entertainment value, of which the developer has spent a considerable amount of time making to ensure we get the best experience possible, commands a lot more respect than people making silly judgments because their flawless artistic standards aren't met. It's also my opinion, that anyone who hasn't any talent or skill artistically should never feel they have the right to pass such a judgment simply because they have no clue what it takes to get things looking the way they look, or what kind of limitations there are due to constraints such as technical limitations, scale and time.

Couldn't have said it better. We all have opinions, but let's keep the atmosphere a bit relaxed.

Erm, come again? You seriously can't be serious. I hope for yourself that you are some hotshot artist otherwise you've just made a fool of yourself in this thread. And if you are, please give your name so I can make sure I'll never work with you...

Everyone's allowed an opinion, it's just whether you choose to listen or take note of it.

There is some very harsh, often unnecessary criticism that does arise on many game boards, though. I do agree that it pays to have some artistic knowledge and how to apply that, however, as not everyone is really capable of giving justifiable comments if they have little basis other than "Gears of War is better looking", or current favourite "it's TF2 only -insert genre here-". Or simply skipping over the art style to nitpick on a rock that's probably only viewable in motion for 1/20th of a second.

For example, on the new picture, does it really bother anyone that the texture on the edge of the building is pixellated? No, because we know about what Rockstar are trying to achieve beyond that. We've not quite reached a level in games graphics, on current generation consoles, that allows for perfection. Even then, everyone's idea of perfection is different... hence why there's always heated arguments on games boards!

No I don't think you understand.

Then again if your opinion is that someone elses opinion is ridiculouis maybe it's cool ^^ Because opinions can't be wrong right?

So because you can draw a few stick men and can differentiate yellow from green, you think you are entitled to tell everybody not to express their feelings about a specefic game?

Very atmospheric, nice colors, postprocessing and animation. For a game of this scale these gfx are incredible. The framerate in the vids is freaking me out a little bit though...

Being honest here, if you take the GTA label away from these screenshots, this would've been a Yawn festival. Nothing shown in these look better than already released games like Saint's Row, Crackdown... let alone others in production like APB.

Not all those games are the same scale though. And whether people want to acknowledge it or not, scale is a huge factor that plays into how a game looks and performs. Im talking about the scope of the game. I havent really been following GTA coverage, but im assuming the game is pretty big, i think the visuals arent bad considering.
