It didn't take long after the trailer was released for our friends over at Tokyo to film some gameplay footage of White Knight Story, and as expected for a Level 5 it looks great!
Update: Added a second and long gameplay video. We couldn't do anything about the screen being partly hidden by the player, they didn't allow us to do anything but that.
Update 2: Added a third video, this time showing the whole demo.
MAJ 3: Last video, highlighting the character creation system.

At this stage it should be looking a whole lot more exciting.

it looks about what one would expect from what they've shown. i haven't seen anyone thats really gone in depth with the combo building system, which is supposedly the real meat of the combat system
frankly doesn't look any less exciting gameplay-wise then some other high profile rpgs that have been hyped so far in TGS based on what we've actually been shown

Commented on 2007-09-22 06:47:48This is 1 of the best looking 3d rpgs though. Infinite Undiscovery looks pretty much the same as this and has a similiar art style.
Lost Oddysey looks truely amazing but has a very dark art style due to using the unreal 3 engine.
But these new wave of rpgs certainly are packing some nice eye candy. But the gameplay really needs to take the rpg genre somewhere while keeping the same rpg feel.
The challange is not making a game look good any bunch of programmers can do it. Its getting a game to play well that will make them memorable.

Commented on 2007-09-22 13:44:42 In reply to Ezekiel_Xzand of course the real kick is that A) the happy balance region between the two is extremely small and B) you'll never get everyone to agree with where that happy balance between the two is in the first place.
problem is, what you want is easier said than done. in fact i'd go so far as to say it's something that is said very easily but near impossible if not completely impossible to actually accomplish.
taking the genre somewhere new is inevitably going to change its feel. that's something i don't think enough people understand. certainly there's variation in how far you take it, and how different it feels. but the 2 are pretty much completely inversely related. if you want them to really take the genre somewhere new, then the feel is going to be something new. if you want that same classic feel, don't expect them to have changed much from that same classic design.

Commented on 2007-09-22 23:23:05But i guess that was a target render right? The game still is in early development and i'm sure it will look better towards the release.
this is level-5's baby afterall, so i have full confidence in the final game. Loved rogue galaxy, dark cloud, dragon quest 8..!

Commented on 2007-09-23 02:00:22It certainly looks much deeper than Eternal Sonata.
But I have a feeling Infinite Undiscovery will be superior. :)

Animations are certainly not up to the original trailer here...but to say graphics have been downgraded is false...nowhere has that been said from those who have played the game...in fact, they ve been universally praised.
