Well, it already drives like Wipeout with all the sliding ::zinger!::

;)

Not really sure the direction they are taking the series. You have sims (GT, Forza), semi-sims (PGR), arcade racers (NFS), futuristic racers (FZ, Wipeout), and then your over the top derby type car games or weapon based car games that are less racing and more combat in cars.

Looks like RR is becoming a mix of arcade racer and futuristic racer. It will be interesting to see how it plays.

Your joking right, Wipeout and Ridge handle nothing like each other, are U nuts? I worked on both of them (Wipeout, wipeout XL/2097, Ridge Racer(s)) while I was working for Sony and the only thing they have in commons is that there racing games. Control systems are completely different!

This game loosk sweet I can't wait to get hold of it...

he is only telling that because there are lots of people that are surprised to see the "on trails like" behaviour in corners.

And he is right, that RR is more on the Wipeout-side than lets say Forza-side. The Genre of RR and Wipeout is the same... kind of unreal, arcade, fun-racer thing.

is it confirmed as launchtitle yet? I read at IGN it's going to be there at day 1!

DJmizuta,

Wow, I guess you missed the "zinger" in there??

My comment was aimed at the fact RR is already a very arcade based racer and NOW they are adding vehicles that look like rips from Wipeout / F-Zero. If you worked on Wipeout you could see that. RR already slides all over, so adding in HOVERCRAFT (see pictures above) and rocket cars fit right in! (Another zinger!)

Obviously I am exaggerating about the amount of sliding in RR, but I think an objective observer would realize that adding HOVERCRAFT to the game may be an indication where this title, if not the series, is headed. As McEnrono notes, RR was already an arcady game far displaced from the Forza/GT mold.

Adding vehicles that look like they were donated from Nintendo's F-Zero or Sony's Wipeout only emphasizes that this series is not only arcady, but aiming to be even more over the top in that direction. Doesn't mean it is a bad game, only noting the direction of the franchise. The only person nuts here is the person who cannot take the time to spell out "you". ;)

I was taking about the control system, thats what U said in your first post 'already drives like Wipeout' I was simply saying that the controls systems are diiferent, RR doesn't turn through the 'Z' it only turns through the 'Y', wipeout turns through both axis's. Whether the car models being futuristic the game itself besides the looks doesn't resemble wipeout at all.

And Elliot I ain't been PWNS...U have for believing such crap!

piss handeling in psp? you mean it was too easy to take a turn sideways ant 90 degrees? or you mean you were bad at the game?

and these cars are the after class-6 unlockables. the psp version had a pac-man rocket and a prop-powered helicopter thingy. these are just the xbox ones. its like big head mode or strange costumes in other games, its just some extra you get for beating everything else in the game.

Anyway, i agree with Mizuta. The handlings of those games are totally different. And the feeling of the race is too, even if both are very arcade-oriented.

Why would you work on Wipeout if you worked on Ridge Racers? Wipeout isn't even a japanese game, and neither is Sony produced.

good point! I loved it and Ridgeracers and Wipeout pure are still my favourites on the psp! I mean back in 1995 when wipeout came out on the PS1... damn that was just... a new world... like PGR3 is going to be I hope.

Mizuta what are you working on at the moment?

When I first saw Wipeout in January 1995 I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I was still playing SNES so seeing Wipeout changed everything for me.

Next gen I still feel is a little way off...pretty graphics don't make anything next gen. Although Xbox live is pretty cool and is changing the way we play games, but I still don't think it's next gen. I don't think we'll see next gen for about 10 to be completely honest.

We've gotta think out of the box...

PS2 and PSP game...thats all I can say!

for me everything that is impossible on current console hardware is next-gen... but a leap like the PS1 and Saturn have been compared to SNES and Genesis wont happen again I think... that was revolution... now we have slow evolution.
