Digital Extremes recently unveiled when will release The New War, the studio's biggest and most ambitious cinematic expansion for its acclaimed free-to-play title Warframe. Releasing on December 15th on all platforms, the story-based expansion will bring new playable characters, various missions in new environments through 3 acts and much more. At TennoCon 2019, Warframe developer Digital Extremes unveiled many surprises along its vision of space combat from the upcoming Empyrean expansion.
The studio revealed an all-new cinematic introduction directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, Black Mirror: Playtest, Uncharted) that focuses on the Orokin Era, when the original Tenno rebelled against their masters. Also revealed was The Duviri Paradox, a new open world expansion now in development, The New War, the fourth cinematic quest coming in December, The Emissary, the new Nightwave season with its share of rewards and new story plus Wukong Prime, an enhanced version of the original suit. During its TennoCon 2018, Digital Extremes unveiled a lot of good news for its acclaimed title Warframe. In partnership with Panic Button, the studio is developing the game for Nintendo Switch. After Plains of Eidolon last year, the game will get the open-world Venus expansion Fortuna later this year. A separate update, Codename: Railjack, will launch players into space aboard a warship for tactical battles. Finally, the developer teased the upcoming cinematic quest. Grab everything inside.

The Sacrifice is the new cinematic storyline update for Warframe, following previous story-based quests The Second Dream, The War Within, Chains of Harrow, and the Apostasy Prologue. Digital Extrems will release the content in June for PC and soon on consoles.

Already available on PC, the Beasts of the Sanctuary update for Warframe hits consoles today. Digital Extremes brings with it the multifaceted Khora, team-based survival-style mode Sanctuary Onslaught and time-limited Plague Star Event which ends May 21.
