Some wishful thinking for me for MS's next Xbox is... being able to install a larger HD, like you could with a PS3. Using bluetooth as a standard for controllers. Increasing the number of friends over 100, and putting them perhaps into groups based on friends that play racing games, shooters, family, etc. Perhaps making LIVE more like PSN plus, with more freebies. Sony is really starting to raise the bar with PSN plus, and MS should take note.
Backwards compatibility with XBOX LIVE arcade and indie titles. Spectator mode in games... like Madden, COD, etc. One thing I'd also like is more enforcement of bad behavior and such by MS... big ban hammer... swung more often and harder. That is a true pipe dream.

You shouldn't be worried by what Acert said. Both the PS4 and new Xbox will be amazing. They will be producing some very impressive games, games that look much better than anything we could ever hope to get on the 360 or PS3. Some of the compromises that we had to settle for this, we'll have to settle for such things far less next gen. These consoles will have gpus with much more horsepower, they will have far more ram, we're going to get some nice AF in our games finally, we'll get higher quality AA and won't have to settle for FXAA, we'll get much superior effects, the type that seemed too extravagant to do during gameplay while maintaining decent fps...

Simple, for those looking for machines that destroy pcs, these consoles won't be such a thing, and they don't need to be. PCs will always pass up and prove to be capable of things that no console expected to have a 5+ year lifespan could hope for. But even then, yes, we'll see plenty of titles that, on these machines, look far better than what's actually been accepted as possible on equivalent pc hardware further into the life of these machines. If anyone is skeptical of this fact, don't be.

This is how the gen will start out mostly, they will just seem like ps3 and 360 games just in higher resolution. Folks won't particularly think the environments look all that much better. They won't even think car models and character models look that much better, either, and neither will they feel the games, in general, look like they are more advanced or complex from a purely gameplay perspective. It will more or less be like it was at the start of the 360 and ps3, where most people thought that the games weren't very much of a jump, if at all, from the previous gen of games. But once devs learn to best leverage this hardware and begins to show up in games, people will learn to respect these consoles. Of this, I have very little doubt. These consoles need not be equivalent to the most powerful high end pcs today to achieve what I mentioned in this post. They are powerful enough and they are in closed, static environments where the specs and capabilities of both machines can be fully exploited. And even pc gamers should be happy about this, because pc gamers will especially benefit from this transition, as many of the enhancements that are seen in these next gen games will make their way into pcs that were already fully capable of pulling this stuff off for years, but due to lack of a need for developers to push the envelope on the pc, weren't all that present in many pc titles. And the best games of this gen, because it will absolutely be easier to port them to pcs, thanks to the x86 processors in these machines, the pc will be flooded with amazing games where, for folks that are interested, can play superior versions of the games that are on xbox 720 and ps4, if they have a powerful enough pc to do so. Most of us today already have pcs that powerful. My pc is just fine, for example, only thing I would even remotely require is a gpu upgrade, as my Radeon 6870 gets the job done in most situations, but I've long known I need something stronger, but I'll wait it out. I already have 16GB of ram in this beast, and my processor is fantastic for most games, especially if overclocked to 4.8GHZ.

So, again, have no fear. I, Optimus, will deliver your wishes to the deity of your choice, as Phaethon was so kind to point out in the OP. :)

Hey, you asked for prayer, I gave you prophecy :P

My wishes are simple and quite obvious that needs to happen.

Dualshock controller should be redesigned a bit. Left analog should replace the dpad and vice versa. Triggers should be actual triggers like 360.
Resolution, 1080p/30fps (60fps if can pull it off without screwing up the graphics) or 720p/60fps locked...anything below 720p can fuck off (Crytek and COD series specifically).
PS4 should have custom music for all games like 360 since i been using it on multiple playthrough on action games.
Keep the online play FREE as usual and fix the damn PSN store since the one they have now on PS3 is garbage...basically, its slow as all hell.

For "Next Box"...just make action games that doesnt have Halo or Gears in it, and hopefully not another shooter console. Free online play.
Resoluton, same as PS4.

As it stands now, I am definitely going to buy a PS4 than a new Xbox since the games Sony has is more appealing to me. Tbh it will be my first time i ever buy a Playstation as my first platform at launch since I never owned a PS2 and got PS3 like a year after release and PS1 at random time.

Wil get the next Xbox first, as for games i hope for more and more great RPG's with some great Adventure games thrown in.

PS4 controller

- concave analogue stick with the rough texture they currently have.
- more "trigger" shaped triggers

PS4 console

- keep PS+. If they have to charge for online play, retain the PS+ model of giving stuff away.
- party chat independent of the game you're playing.
- faster trophy sync and in-game UI.
- screenshot capture built into the UI.
- better PSN store
- 1080p / 30fps minimum standard. Non of this HD ready BS.

PS4 games

- keep doing what they're doing, maybe a slightly bigger push for digital indie arcade titles
- more vita intergration. Cross play, shared saves, buy one version get the other free etc

720 controller

- better D-pad
- more useful bumper buttons
- flatter face buttons
- in-built rechargable battery
- analog sticks with more grip

720 console

- free online play, or adopt the PS+ model of giving stuff away
- detatch external sub based apps from the gold subscription model. You shouldn't have to pay MS to access netflix or lovefilm.
- no more fucking advertisments on a pay for service
- a blu-ray disc drive
- better reliability, no RROD issues
- a slot based disc drive (less can go wrong)
- an in-built HDD that can be swapped out with no proprietary BS
- make it black, it looks better
- 1080p / 30fps as the minimum standard
- cleaner, simple UI thats easy to navigate

720 games

- less fucus on kinect, hell, kill it off for all i care
- more exclusives, and no, that doesnt mean paying for timed exclusive DLC. I want fully fledged, first party, never gonna be seen anywhere but the 720, exclusives.
- less reliance on halo, gears, and forza.
- change their attitude to sales. No more "it sold less then 6 million, we won't be making a sequel" BS
- get RARE making something wirthwhile that people actually want.
- put as much effort into their retail games as they do their XBLA offerings

I'm sure there is more, but i think that'll do.

I notice, that after MS supposedly streamlined the experience of lag, speed, and flow of the dashboard, it is still laggy as hell on my Xbox 360, after years of use. I don't know if it is my hard drive being fragmented or what, but it takes a while to sign in to LIVE, move between some screens, etc.

My wife's Ipad is super responsive moving between screens, very little wait timeif any. I hope that with all this RAM and speed, there is not noticeable lag.

I also still see multiplayer games with terrible lobbies. Battlefield 3 anyone? MS needs to come up with an online lobby template system, for shooter games in particular, that is solid, quick, logical, functional, well designed, and developers can use to build off of, that way they can spend more time making the game, and less time worrying about lobby net code and such, and we the gamers, can get a more familiar cohesive lobby experience, that works like it should.

All games need to be at least 2160p or I won't be satisfied
