Yep, he played buck in ODST and was also in Halo Reach on one of the levels, I forget which. How he escaped Reach I have no idea.

But damn, ODST had the worst character model/animation combination for its time -- it was very sad, considering we had had games like Half Life 2 ~7 years before that looked so much better. 343 really showed they can do animations and cinamatics with H4 IMO, so I have high hopes here. Also, totally off topic, but I can't wait to see FM6!

Yea, all the animations were done by a single guy. Every cinematic by himself using keyframe animations. Yea, I'm pretty excited about FM6 myself also.

Halo 4's cutscenes were pretty amazing with how expressive and believable the characters were able to be. I expect the same or better to be present in Halo 5.

Team Osiris

Jameson Locke: Locke is an ex-agent of the Office of Naval Intelligence, but he has recently started working for the United Nations Space Command as one of their newly minted Spartans. In spite of what fans might think based on the recent trailers, 343 Industries says that Locke doesn’t hold any animosity towards the Chief, but he’s been given a mission to bring him home, and Locke is the kind of guy who always comes through on his mission. Locke is a world-class man hunter; if you need someone tracked down, Locke is the guy you want to call.

-

Holly Tanaka: Halo fans were introduced to Tanaka in Dark Horse’s ongoing comic series, Halo Escalation. One of only 10 survivors after her home world of Minab was glassed during the Covenant war, Tanaka endured a three-year nuclear winter on Minab’s barren surface before being rescued and joining the UNSC Army. Later she volunteered for augmentation and training as a Spartan-IV soldier. Tanaka comes from African and East Asian descent, and her time surviving on Minab has given her a will to fight and survive no matter the cost.

-

Olympia Vale: At the end of the war with the Covenant, the Navy needed specialists to help bridge the gap between Humanity and the Covenant. One of the most important players in this political game was Olympia Vale. A post-war political liaison with the Sangheili, Vale was a child prodigy who is very skilled in language, and has learned to speak many of the Covenant’s dialects. Vale is a fairly new character for the Halo universe, so little is known about her currently. She will be a key player in the upcoming Halo: Hunters in the Dark novel, so fans will learn a lot more about her when the book releases on June 16.

-

Edward Buck: Likely Fireteam Osiris’ most recognizable face, Buck is played by popular actor Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle) and was first introduced to fans in Halo 3: ODST where he helped lead a team of ODSTs on a covert mission during the Covenant invasion of Earth. Buck has trained in all manner of armed and unarmed combat and served on the front lines for two decades, participating in several black ops and wetwork missions. It was once said that if Buck were any better he’d be a Spartan. Halo 5 proves that he must have gotten better, because Buck has now graduated the Spartan-IV program. However, Buck still wears his old ODST helmet that he's comfortable with.

And of course the Master Chief's team of Spartan All Stars

-

Master Chief Petty Officer John-117: Not much needs to be said about the Chief as Halo fans are already familiar with the series' iconic hero. Master Chief is considered to be the hero of humanity as he was a key player in helping humanity win the Covenant war. Eight months after Cortana's destruction in Halo 4, Chief is re-united with Blue Team - his oldest friends. The members of Blue Team are the last officially active Spartan-IIs in UNSC service. However, near the beginning of the game, something happens to the Chief and the entirety of Blue Team decides to go AWOL. 343 won't reveal details about this event, but it's significant enough that the United Nations Space Command forms a second team of Spartans - led by Jameson Locke - to hunt down Blue Team. (This team is called Fireteam Osiris and you can read more about them later today.

-

Lieutenant Junior Grade Frederic-104: An expert in strategy and battlefield command, Fred is actually the highest ranking member of Blue Team, and technically the leader. However, Fred often defers command to the Chief. 343 Industries thinks of Fred as a kind of producer for Blue Team, he's the guy who organizes the team and helps them focus on their strengths. He cares a great deal for each member of his crew, and is emotionally impacted when anyone under his commend gets hurt.

-

Petty Officer Linda-058: A highly skilled marksman, Linda is the quietest member of Blue Team and likely the most observant. In the Halo lore, Linda is known to take out multiple targets so quickly that observers don't know who she targeted first. A bit of a lone wolf, Linda is so good with a sniper rifle that she doesn't even use a spotter to help find her targets. Most impressively, she has taken down Banshees by sniping the pilot through the tiny slit below the vehicle's canopy. While players who assume the role of Linda will start with a sniper rifle, it's worth noting that players will never be locked into any of the starting weapons - each member of the team is functionally the same and most of the differences between the team are cosmetic or story-related.

-

Petty Officer Kelly-087: Blue Team's key reconnaissance expert, Kelly, is quick on her feet and adept at analyzing combat situations. While all of the members of Blue Team are close, Kelly might be one of the Chief's closest friends. In the game, Kelly will be technically as fast as the other members of Blue Team, but in the Halo lore, Kelly has been clocked running as fast as 38 MPH. Her speed also extends to her reflexes, which makes her a formidable hand-to-hand combatant. Blue Team has been known to use Kelly as bait, having her lead enemies into traps set up by the rest of the team.

Possibly? The beta was 720p and these are 1440p lol... And they're probably sampled from an even higher resolution. That's what Halo 5 would look like on PC.

After Ryse I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt. The game in motion will look so much better than the best static images that they can put up.

Little known fact. It was actually Microsoft (Mike Yabarra) that pushed Crytek to bump up the image quality on Ryse. They've hired some incredibly talented leads at MGS now. People like Ken Lobb, Habib Zargarpour, Michael A. Mann, Michael Weilbacher, Joseph Staten (same people that assisted on Ryse), big FX house level talent that you would normally associate with summer motion pictures.

Being the flagship title of the Xbox platform I have no doubts that similar Crytek/Ryse efforts went into Halo.

The problem with those pics is that they all are 1440p. In no way MS will release the game on XB1 at that resolution.

Yeah, I didn't even look at the resolution, obviously the game will not run at that. Still, the point is there's nothing outside of that that is hard to believe, from characters, environments, lighting, effects, etc.

Well there you have it, 1440p halo 5 confirmed then.

The game looks fine, not amazing but it definitely looks like Halo. All I care about is if its fun, which it will be I'm sure.

Ya it's a hoot.. the idea that Ryse actually looks that good, or that the publisher deserves more credit (including a list of producers and writers!) than the developer! Look at frame buffer dumps of Ryse next to native 1440p screens. Ryse is blurry on Xbox. Ryse is also 30fps and single player. The only thing that really binds them is the platform. Oh and Ken Lobb!

But Ryse DOES look just THAT good. And where did I say that Crytek deserved less credit???

I merely brought up the fact that in the case of Ryse the publisher pushed for better graphics and used some of the exceptional leads they had recently hired to to assist in that push for higher IQ. And they delivered. I game on a 120inch screen and I honestly didn't suffer through the game for artifacts and distortions. Now I did buy the Legendary Ed very late. so perhaps they cleaned things up. So I don't know.

My only complaints was that combat was far too easy (even at the highest setting for me at least) and that just as the game started to become really interesting the experience was cut short.

Do framebuffer screenshots from the Xbox version of Ryse look as good as native 1440p output from the PC version? Because that's what you're claiming... Never mind that Halo runs at twice the framerate, on an entirely different engine, and from an entirely different developer...

All we're saying: downsampled 1440p images of Halo do not represent final IQ.

No it isn't. The only thing I told docLEX was that the game in motion would look better than any screenshots that they could put up. Then you and rayy inserted your comments over 1440 resolution, thereby projecting on my rather blameless observation over screens vs actual gameplay.

When scoobs mentioned 1440p being locked up I got a good chuckle. What exactly is the problem here?
