I do actually. One is a right-handed, and the other is a left-handed. I like to mix it up a bit. ;)

oh my god those headphones probably suck horse manure.

You can hardly spend that much and get a decent pair of wraps without a spoke.

LOL, you are not far from the truth. I use headphones since I play keyboard, and so does my bro. I bought some relatively cheap noise-cancelling, Yamaha headphones (~$40), which sound awesome. My brother went out and bought Sennheiser headphones, and I don't think I've seen those anywhere near those price ranges at this type of headphone. My Yamaha's sound better, much clearer and better bass.

So there you go, but you buy those Sennheisers if it makes you feel better :P It really is all about the brand :|

By the way, Sennheiser is good, but it is overpriced! Maybe microphones are a different deal, but at least on headphones they are overpriced.

Well, they're the best headphones I've used, anyway. That wasn't exactly my point though. You can get a relatively decent heady at a relatively decent price--just like there are gaming mice that are pretty cheap too. New Teflon on a new surface not only performs better, but it feels terrific. The same is relatively true when it comes to other peripherals too. It's not "all about the brand," that's just stupid. To say that the example (crap dell OEM mouse) is comparable in performance and comfort (and build) to a Death Adder or a G9 is insanity.

What noise canceling headphones did you get for $40 btw? Active noise canceling? I have a pair of JVC active noise canceling headphones that I use on the train, and they're surprisingly good but were almost twice that. I'd be interested to compare, because I know a few people who really like these and wouldn't mind saving a few bucks if they're good. I do love my Sennheiser heady though. It's by far the best headphone+mic all-in-one unit i've encountered.

Maybe it is a skill issue? The more you demand from your hardware in terms of consistency as well as customization makes a difference.

My G9: Being able to ramp up to 3200dpi and then down to 400dpi on the fly is a great feature. The claw-style grip of the G9 does allow for more fine tuned movements. The solid click wheel is extremely consistent (with the option to quickly change it to a free roll), and the body design is solid. The adjustable weights gives it the right heft for your style and the feet are not only extremely smooth by the most durable I have seen. Even the cord which is an ultraslick fiber braid glides with extremely low friction. The FW/Back buttons and programability + high poll rates gives some nice options.

I had an MX500 before this and it was good--reliable, high DPI, well built, and comfortable. But the G9 blows it away in every way. The MX500 was showing a lot of wear that my G9 isn't showing at a similar stage in life. The G9 also adapted to my preferences (it has MULTIPLE shells, multiple weights, customizable scroll wheel, programmable buttons, and OTF dpi adjustments) so instead of learning a new mouse I just set it to how I naturally use it and it became like a glove.

Sure, some people may just adapt really well. They might also not care when their plastic mouse cord catches once in a while (my G9 never catches whereas the MX500 cord, due to its material, was prone like normal mice to catch on stuff). The cheap stuff is really light (maybe a preference of some?) and cheap to replace. OTF dpi changes or high DPI may not be important to their style of play, nor maybe programmable buttons or claw style grips.

On the other hand I love the fact in Reach I had a ton of options on my mouse

Thumb: Back, Forward
Index: Left Mouse, dpi OTF
Middle: Scroll Up/Down/Button
Ring: Right Mouse

That is 7 buttons + dpi changes. All well placed and comfortable.

And all for $20.

Agh! that's finally happening to me now, after about 10 years of good service. Plus I think it's making windows crash by failing in weird ways.

I'm looking at a Deathadder now too, or something from Logitech, but Logitech changed their naming scheme and I'm not sure what to look at.
What would the Deathadder equivalent from Logitech be, these days?

edit
Looks like the G400 could be a good alternative, and at ten dollars less.
Or the G500 for 10 dollars more than the Razer.

Oh wait, the G400 is only on Preorder :/ Looks like it's going to be the Deathadder

I really like the hardware dpi toggle on the G400 though. The Deathadder doesn't look like it has that (only in software, which is comparatively inconvenient).
Surprisingly, the lowest end Razer mouse, the Abyssus, DOES have it. wtf. I'd get that one if it had 5 buttons...

Grift, or anyone, have you found a good "set and forget" dpi for the Deathadder, or have you had any issues in that department?

tbh i just keep it cranked up in most games and adjust the sensitivity in game.. I do have an older Deathadder but I'd probably do the same on a new one too in most cases.

It does have a profile switch btw (five profiles) where you could adjust the DPI but it's not a convenient solution and it's on the bottom of the mouse.

get the Microsoft Sidewinder, its especially great since it has three speed settings for scrolling (fast, medium, slow). Its great if you love playing as sniper in FPS games.

It also two buttons on the left hand side, they work as great hot keys since you can press them with your thumb. Its also very ergonomic since it requires the full use of the right hand.

Highly recommend!

I got a free pair of noise cancelling head phones with my new Sony walkman, they work great!

Bought it for $99, totally worth it!! But I wish they were lighter though, they constantly fall off my ear when I am running on the treadmill

I'm no stranger to ergonomic mice and thumb buttons, as I was using an Intellimouse Explorer 3, but I'm trying to stay away from MS mice this time.
That Sidewinder is competetively priced, but it only has one thumb button?
At least, that's how it looks on their website:

How is lazer vs. optical these days? (I notice the Sidewinder is lazer now)
