"First come smiles, then comes lies. Last is gunfire"
In other news I've yet to see this, going on Monday tho. Confirmed.
Grimthorne complains about things that if you've seen the originals, make no sense (as already pointed out).
Also they make no sense because the structure of the movie is a strong point. The build up is awesome and they could have pushed that even more for something even greater.
Problem is, a contemporary audience needs shit blowing up IMMEDIATELY nowadays. COD generation and shit
I thought monsters showed up really shortly into the movie though, like the credits even showed things right away.
The only negatives I come away with truly, are the plot holes. Yes the human stuff could have been better, but it was serviceable
Other than that all the action sequences are awesome, and the way battle scenes are shown is great. Sometimes they just tease at the action which is cool
One other thing, Muto flying >>>>> Muto walking. Too much like Cloverfield
Mr. Flibble is very cross
bahahahahahahahahaha!!
It's weird they're going to have two different ones represented
Back to Godzilla though- should have been extra shit after the credits.
Was hoping for two tiny Asian fairies hinting at Mothra- but got NOTHIN
I guess I just assume there isn't anyone on here to spoil
I didn't even put it in the proper thread. Delirium with this fever I have
I think if they had pushed the human portion to a better quality level there'd be no one complaining
Some people want the over the topness of Pacific Rim- a movie I thought was gimmicky bs- I though Godzilla was handled well and got just enough showtime in the film
I liked the structure. I liked how they paced things out and just how much of the monsters we saw and didn't see.
All the groundwork was there to be something really special, and they just didn't go far enough to make it there
My biggest complaints of Pacific Rim were addressed in this movie.
1) The sense of scale was off in PR. In this it's clear 3 huge monsters are going to war. I loved the fights in PR, but when tried to humanize giant robots they lost the immensity in their shots along the way.
2) PR dropped dead in the middle. It was 2 quick big fights, tons of "character building" dead space, huge fights. Godzilla left me on a huge high note. While the segments earlier were just teases they delivered good in the end. I'd take Gareth Edwards fight scenes over all the low quality toy sets and wire stunts in the world. It also stands to say that Godzilla actually had a smaller budget than Pacific Rim so its understandable why they had to handle things differently.
I also LOVED how they portrayed Godzilla and the MUTOs, not as some oversized WWE combatants but a Predator/Prey dynamic. They made Godzilla an apex predator who was hunting, not just defending his territory (which for all intents of purposes has been the earth in previous films).
So yeah I ultimately get the complaints of this movie, but they'd seem more likely to come from someone who didn't grow up loving the cheese-fests as a kid. To anyone who grew up watching the old Godzilla films and thought the '98 film was better: I don't understand you.
I'm excited for the sequel which is well deserved with this one earning more than the previous box office earnings combined (or abouts). Gareth deserves his Star Wars, and I hope he brings Boba Fett to life in that stand-alone flick.
I just wish I could've seen it in IMAX.
Best news I've heard in my life. Probably don't have a chance at seeing this until 2017 if Gareth is doing the Star Wars one off film first though, but praise.
If you hijack a thread, you get it jacked!
