I was a good boy and bought my tickets a while ago. I will be at the London one on the second day :]

Definitely looking forward to getting my hands on Mass Effect and Assassins Creed. Oh and the indie games thing they've got going on this year should be cool too.

I went last year and thought it was pretty good. Not as glamorous as other bigger shows, but it's still a blast.

How busy does it get? I didn't go last year. I'm going first thing Friday where hopefully it's not too mental.

It's not THAT bad really. It never felt crowded. As for lines, it was the multiplayer games that have the longest wait.

Last year the big ones were for Gears 2 and the Street Fighter IV cabinets. Left4Dead had a crowd throughout the entire day.

If you do get there early enough I'm sure you'll get dibs on whatever you want.

Cool cheers for that.

Eurogamer twitter says tickets available on the door for tomorrow in London. If anyone ends up going let me know :D

I'll be writing some stuff for CouchCampus. Today, I played Heavy Rain, Split Second, GoW III, Mass Effect 2, Red Steel 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2. Feel free to ask any questions though I'll probably dip into the individual threads so people see it.

Just got back, and I'm knackered. Really good show though! The venue was tons better than last years and I think I enjoyed more games this year too.

So far my game of the show was Left4Dead2. That game just can't not be fun (TBH that game is perfect for that kind of environment so that did help it).

Mass Effect was the same demo from E3 so there wasn't much of a wow factor because I'd seen the thing a hundred times already. But it was great to finally get to play it. Controls feel tighter and shooting things is very satisfying.

My surprise game of the show was Split Second (burnout-ish racing game where environment is your weapon). Just a really addictive game that looked great and put a fat grin on your face every time something exploded.

Another thing I did not expect to be impressed by was the 3D technology being shown. I tried out Nvidia's stuff first and was genuinely impressed, although I don't think I would throw down any money for it for a long, long time.
Avatar just looked amazing in 3D and you could really tell they put a lot of work in there. The game really needs to be played in the 3D for it to be fully appreciated.

I am disappointed I didn't get to play Assassins Creed II. Can't believe they only had it on 4 machines.

I should mention more games but I need sleeps. Next year I definitely think more Gamersyders should go.

Left 4 Dead 2 was definitely one of the more popular games at the show. I didn't bother waiting for it as I'd played a fair bit of it already. Always people around there hanging around.

Venue was off the hook too, specially downstairs.

I thought it was fun. You can definitely tell 1943 was a test bed for it though. Even some of the UI elements are the same.

SimonM7 The games counterpart is the interaction, the rules of it, the mechanics. Yet many seem to vastly value its storytelling component over those. Or rather, be unable to imagine it standing on its own. (7 minutes ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Sure, but games are much more than storytelling devices, unlike movies. Sure, a song can move you with lyrics, but we listen for the melody, something a book can't give us. (10 minutes ago)

Ronsauce If paintings/sculptures /movies/fashion can all be praised for their esthetics, I'm sure games can too. (14 minutes ago)

  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah. We harp on about games supposedly being their own artform, yet the majority of players value the aspects shared with other mediums the most. Not exactly an airtight case. (1 Hour ago)
