I'm pretty sure the new Xbox will be called just Xbox down the line. If you look at the console itself, the kinect or controller, there's no ONE wording used, only the sign and "xbox". I believe "One" was mostly for thee presentation and perhaps up till and just past the release. Similar to Apple's naming with the latest iPads, i think microsoft just wants people to start saying "xbox" instead of "360" again.

Then maybe they should have...i dunno, just called it "xbox", although imo, that's even more confusing then Xbone.

definatly be picking this up for one of the next gen consoles rather than PC. You gotta hope the match making, server list, backwardness of how Battlelog plays on BF3 pc wont carry over to this - on pc or console.

You know that its gonna end up just being xbox anyways after time.. that's all that's written on the console

Please speak for yourself. I love Battlelog and nearly everyone I've played with on the PC thinks it's a great feature.

They were attacked for a straight week and the service still was only down intermittently and you're holding one bad experience against what is easily the best Battlefield interface ever. I'm not super crazy about the most recent update, but it's still the fastest way into a game of Battlefield ever. Easily. And it has great stat tracking and friend integration (and instant scoreboards and a host of other cool features). Compared to how slow and clunky the UI's for literally every previous Battlefield game are, it's a friggin' miraculous thing!

One of the best server browsers in any game.

No, I'm not even holding the fact that it was down for a solid week as reason why its so backwards. It's the fact that its so slow and cumbersome when it does work. I'm used to cod on the 360 admittedly.. and I like how I can instantly get placed in a fully game of my choosing, or be specific in my search whilst in the game. I don't like how I have to go through a browser to play online fullstop (nor play sp - this is "always on" folks).. so to have to quit right out of the game should I get tired of playing one map, or should I not like the next map (not that bf3 even tells you which map is loading next/or gamemode)to go back to the browser, select another server and wait for the whole thing to boot up again (which is a crazy slow process itself when compared to something as accessable as cod has been)..doesn't win me over.

Maybe i'm just not as used to this sort of stuff as you.. frankly I don't wanna get used to it. I'd rather see it improve. Bad company was never like this..if BF4 adopts bad companys match making service i'll be happy.

Plus, next gen I wanna invite mates to games as well as accept invites. I've win8.. I cant simply windows key back to the desktop like the good old days. I cant get back to my browser on the fly to invite people to games or join theirs. I'd have to end my game and quit out completely. That to me is silly.

It's quicker to quit BF3 and join a new server than any other Battlefield game period. Alt-F4 and you're back to the browser pretty much instantly. Or alt-tab. With instant access to a lot of functionality. And you load into the game without a single interruption. If loading is slow, that's far outside my experience with the game. It loads up in a matter of seconds without a single splash screen, directly into the game of your choice.

It's not slow and cumbersome at all. You can alt-tab to it in an instant too. There's no way that alt-tab doesn't work in Windows 8. If it doesn't, try Win+D. That's ridiculous. Alt-F4 is basically instant anyway.. and can be done at any time (including load).

It's far quicker than backing out through menus in Bad Company or BF2. I understand that you had a bad experience with it, but I definitely like it. I do think SP being stuck behind an online wall is stupid, but I also think single player is a tremendous waste of Battlefield's resources anyway. I'm more upset that there's co-op unlocks.

You mean that you have to play through the sp first before you can select a level for co-op? yeah.. I tried that last night, I've only got to levels unlocked so far as I've not really been playing sp. Does seem pretty stupid.

And i'm sorry, I just don't see much merit to batalog. It does what other games do just a lot slower... maybe its faster getting into a game than other battlefields, but its definatly not been faster for me at getting into them than bad company 2 was on console (not sure if that used the same on pc?). I'd much rather have the whole choose a server, see what maps your friends are playing, join/invite/party up with them.. contained to the game itself. Just as I would the option to play single player, or co-op... its always going to be faster to quit to a games main menu than to quit the game completely and go back to your browser to see that main menu.
Best thing about having to go through a browser is I get plenty of time to surf sites as the game loads the server I picked (its honestly not been lightening fast for me..i'd say it take around 5mins to load up a game from browser norm) I do like the que system though should I pick a full server I fancy. But I really don't see the attraction of anything else.

I agree with you bleached. Grift and the people he plays with all seem to connect faster than I do (they have SSDs) and as someone with a regular 7200RPM HDD it's just slower all around. I recently had issues launching the game .exe and I wasn't sure if it was a browser issue or the actual game executable. It was very frustrating having the .exe just launch my browser window when I was looking for an error code or something to diagnose the issue.

Battlelog is a nice stats tracker but as the entire game interface I'm just not on board and never have been. Maybe they can cut the game out and make it a complete browser game next-gen :D.

No it doesn't. This is factually wrong. It's a lot faster than any other Battlefield interface. But whatever. I'm sure you've played for a few hours and you didn't even know you could alt-tab out of the game.

It should not take you 5 minutes to load a game. Something is wrong with your game. It should take less than a minute.

It just took me less than a minute after writing this post, without Origin or Battlelog even open. And I'm already playing the game. I alt-tabbed to edit the post. Because you can do that ;)

In pretty much any other game I'd still be watching splash screens. Or in any other Battlefield game waiting for the login server. Or loading.

How did you manage to play without Origin or battlelog open?

Well I've just tried.. it took alittle over 2 minutes (the fastest its been) to get in to a 44player game.. and then by Alt + tab - which you are correct I didn't know I could do as i'm used to the old days where you just pressed the windows key (this is now a tile key), it took 4 minutes to load up a 65 player game. I thought it may have something to do with having specs too high and it taking longer to load.. but when a new map rotates I start same time as everyone else..maybe its the hdd thing? I dunno. Either way even with not having to close down the game first its still the slowest game at loading up a multiplayer game I've personally played - fact. And i'd still prefer to do all this stuff without having to load a client and browser first. Sorry.

You can't do anything without loading something. Origin starts automatically when you join a server.

I'd rather get to the front end instantly instead of having to load the game first. Because it's faster.

But really.. if you prefer match-making then hopefully you get what you want on consoles. Learning to play the game is still sufficiently more difficult than operating battlelog, but I'm sure they'll sort that out in the future :D

And in the old days there wasn't a windows key at all :D

Grift, you're as backwards as battle-log. Joining the game and loading its resources first, then picking a server to join in an in-game browser will NEVER be as slow as an outside third party launcher. You've lost it. Battle log is crap, and not only does it require more ram and resources than just a game alone would, because it uses your browser and activeX, but its crap. It's a tacked on feature that need'nt be, it ceases to add any more functionality. It. Is. Crap. Factually.
