No it doesn't. That article is just a re-hash of the message on the bungie website.

Bunige.net just got updated:
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=14782

As upset and frustrated as we know folks are, we hope it's at least a small comfort that our fans know we share their disappointment. A metric ton of man hours went into getting something ready to show and it's disappointing to not be able to share it. But, the upside is that it's all stuff you'll still see further down the road.

As much as fans wanted to believe otherwise, this is in fact, the truth and not a cruel hoax or prank. E3 is winding down and there are no plans to make a surprise announcement later this week.

The Halo Heads have all lost their unholy minds! LOL!

The ruckus that they are making about this is nothing short of an epic temper tantrum. Although they probably don't recognize it, they've all embarrassed themselves today.

It's not like there gonna release the game this year following the announcement, so I don't know why there all having a fit. Unless they want some media on the next halo to wank over, they should just chill and wait patiently.

oh really? look at some of this shit-
Subject: I will kill Microsoft and give thier heads to Bungie as a present!

Wow, I Feel Horrible

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I am beginning to see a pattern, and I can only hope it is a trend that will not continue. Now I am stuck here wondering if I will still participate in this ARG after the hiatus, if it even does continue. If you think about it, what confidence do I have that Bungie will in fact follow through this time, based on history and previous knowledge I would be a fool to continue."

Subject: I Say We Stop Playing Halo 3 Until give us news

Subject: Bungie, Please gives us some sort of reparation

Subject: PEOPLE AGAINST MICROSOFT

"I say we do not buy any 360 games until this announcement is made. Also do not buy anything on xbox LIVE.... Basically give microsoft NO MONEY through the Xbox 360 in anyway shape or form. This will show how loyal a fan base BUNGIE has and not microsoft!!!!!!!!!"

Subject: This has backfired on Microsoft

"gow/gow2 is garbage anyway. halo always comes out on top.
we all know that."
these people are mentally bent dc. I'd post the really provocative stuff but I don't want to test the waters with Plumb.

Lack of an announcement is nothing short of an epic screw up.

You don't tease like this, on multiple occasions, through a podcast, viral sites, a countdown on your official site and then tell people "oh nevermind, it's called off"

I'm not going to react like some other people, but it's stupid.

All better not be as it seems :)

I'm really bummed out by this. Sure it wouldn't have been as huge as the FF13 announcement, but it would've been one other piece of E3 goodness to look forward to.

People talk about PR screwups all the time. This is definitely one of them :)

Indeed. It's been a strange E3 for all of us. lol

Here's the logical question that everyone is asking.

"Why would Microsoft pull an announcement that's been cooking over at Bungie for months?"

Why would any game publisher step on an announcement from Bungie that would echo through the entire game industry?

only two answers make sense-

1- As a condition of the announcement of Final Fantasy, Square wanted to be the showstopper of Microsoft's press conference.

*counter point: Bungie's announcement would come 2 days later, so it wouldn't interfere with Square's big FF13 bombshell.

2- Microsoft thoughtfully considered it's fall holiday line-up and felt that Bungie's announcement might crush enthusiasm for Gears2, Halo Wars and other 1st party and 3rd party games. Maybe even effect hardware sales.

*counter point: Microsoft held off until E3 06 to show the trailer for Halo 3. It's didn't bum sales of Gears or any other titles and isn't likely to now. And hardware sales remained robust through 2006 despite the Halo announcement.

Nothing else makes sense blmbox and even those reasons I mentioned don't hold up well under fire.

The only people who know the reason why Bungie's announcement was pulled is Microsoft as Bungie community leader Luke Smith has already confirmed. Smith also seems to suggest that Microsoft's publishing arrangement with Bungie is far reaching and begs a question as to just how much freedom does the newly independent game studio really have?

Microsoft explains Halo's no-show at E3 game conference

Turns out that Bungie's latest Halo project was originally part of the program for Microsoft's press conference on Monday, but it was taken out of the lineup at the last minute. Don Mattrick, senior vice president of Microsoft's Xbox games business, said the company decided to pull Halo ...

... to help trim its E3 presentation to under 90 minutes, from 2 1/2 hours, to accommodate attention-challenged reporters. "We had an embarrassment of riches," Mattrick said. "We felt we could do this game more justice with a more dedicated event."
It still doesn't make sense but there it is..................a more "dedicated event"

DEDICATED event, so I think MS will probably have more marketing going into this...
Which makes sense, cant say MS marketing is great, if not the best.

Microsoft marketing sucks, at least here in Europe is almost non existent. In Spain it doesn't even exist too. In the US, maybe they have the best marketing but as far as I am concerned their PR is really bad.

Yup.

The time that it took to introduce Duffy Rockferry, listen to her sing "Mercy" and then thank her as she left stage was about 7-8 minutes. They should have been able to squeeze Bungie in for at least five.

And it still doesn't make sense. Mattrick is talking about the E3 press conference but Bungie's announcement was going to happen 2 days after that. There was no reason to interfere with their announcement.

Today, details are coming in about what Bungie intended to reveal at Microsoft’s E3 press conference. While specific information about its upcoming Halo project remain a secret, the developer reportedly planned to show a sixty second “knock’em down” teaser trailer, only to have it pulled at the last minute.
“Bungie had a sixty second knock’em down teaser trailer made that was going to unveil the game and it was going to be the close to Microsoft media keynote at E3,” Jacob Metcalf explained. “This was going to be followed up by Bungie doing their separate press event later on in the week on Wednesday to show off the new game.”

“Microsoft has never really explained why they prevented Bungie from going on with their media event on Wednesday at E3. It has to be a new Halo game since if it was an new IP Microsoft would not have their hands on the control of the brand and would not have had the power to silence Bungie about it.”

Bungie informed fans that plans had been changed on Tuesday, later promising something “further down the road.” Meanwhile, Microsoft maintains that the announcement was held back for a “more dedicated event.”

“So soon Bungie and Microsoft will come to terms about when and how Microsoft is going to unveil this new Bungie developed Halo game and then show it to the public,” he said.
