Absolutely AWESOME!

Atleast they added stuff that is so interesting now.
I love that Locust shield hold though, MGS, Splinter Cell...hehe Gears going for it!

But yeah the UE3 is a bit better now, the detail and the lighting on the characters is much more brighter but yet more detailed.

They have added more "sparks" for the lancer, someone on GT said it is like Star Wars laser fight, I can't say it doesnt remind me of that but stiff.
Atleast it looks better now than before.

They also seem to have changed the Lancer a bit, with a laser scope on top of it.

The chainsaw battle, awesome!
They have even made the blood and body parts detailed when cutting much better looking.

Seeing that I can't wait for November to pick it up, it seems much more epic, much more intense...and we havent even seen the other 3 characters for the COG.

Also, I saw his on HD on GT but I will for sure download it on 360 so I can heck it on my HDTV, gotta be great.

Yeah thats a cool addition, framerate looked rock solid and it all looked extremly polished for a pre-alpha build, well time for some shut-eye.

All of the brutal, visceral beauty I've come to expect from Gears. Nice to know that all of those marching Locusts at the GDC weren't just for tech demo purposes. It looked like an entire column was coming towards you.

Well the Locusts seem more pissed off than ever. LOL! You sort of had a feeling the lightmass bomb was going to cause more problems than actually solve them.

And they all seemed so sure that the lightmass bomb was going to fix everything! LOLOLOL!!

Alright just saw the trailer and I must say I was a bit disappointed. it looks the same but runs a lot smoother which is nice and definately has a butt loads more things on screen! Loved the locust shield thing and the dual chainsaw button press thingy but that's about it really.

It doesn't look the same it looks much better. The few moments where the player is actually positioned properly to be shown off by that amazing looking atmosphere the game blows the first out of the water. Then when you consider all the action going on at once it's just so insane.

I really can't believe they got all that stuff happening at once at such a rock solid framerate. I can already imagine there will be some amazing outdoor locations that show off the improved lighting even further and I also get the feeling they've got that destructible environment stuff in the game as well.

I'm still shocked at how insane it looks. Hats off to Epic.

To be honest, the engine looks updated.
If that was on Gears 1 it would have alot of dark shadows and contrast on the characters.

But they show side by side with they demonstrated Gears and Gears 2 lighting with Marcus behind a broken pillar, and it clearly showed that Gears 2 was much much better.

This one
http://images.gamersyde.com/gallery/public/8059/15...

Bad image quality but you get the point.
And I clearly can see that just by watching the Gears 2 gameplay.

I feel a bit disappointed because of all the comments from gameinformer's,1up's and gametrailers' editors. But for what's it is it's pretty amazing and it's still work in progress. It's six months before the game hits (and the footage is several weeks old)and it's already absolutely perfect 30fps, so I'm sure they'll add some small touches to that level to make it look even better. Oh and chainsawing enemies will be incredible now.

How could anyone possibly bash this? It looks absolutely stunning.

I heard someone on the news forum say that Killzone 2 has a better palette and more things going on at the same time. Well, i've seen both game play videos and have to say, are you serious? I know which one i'll be getting, and it isn't Killzone 2.

Could be GOTY I reckon, if they get it right.

I would agree with that, but also remeber that these guys saw a few different levels and much more footage, so they seen plenty of stuff we did not see in this trialer.

I have compared the hi-res magazine shots to snippet shown here and they look similar, so if the other sections and levels shown in the GI magazine scans also look similar in motion then we are all in for a visual and gameplay treat when its shown. I thought the snippet shown in this trailer was just amazing, its so blatantly better in every department than GOW1, all the little touches come together to make it better by far

Haha, i'm with you on that one. Can't believe the people who are mindlessly bashing it on no grounds whatsoever, from 2 minutes of superb footage! It's amazing what some people will do for attention isn't it?

well that should be expected, since one comes in '08 and the other in '09. Unless you can lend me that Delorean of yours, the wait for FFXIII is killing me :/

Well I'm fairly disappointed. I don't necessarily think the game is disappointing, but I wasn't really into the stylistic aspects of the first game and I was hoping for gameplay and structure alterations to help overcome my complete distaste for the superficial design decisions this time around aswell.

Turns out most of the things I'd hoped they improved on remain the same. Prettiness is still just prettiness. The way they can't integrate interesting geometry into the game creates the kind of jarring divide that games with pre-rendered backgrounds used to be guilty of.

prettiness || Here's where we walk around || prettiness

I never feeled like I was actually in the locations in Gears 1, I just felt like I was on a bus tour, contained to a small tourist bus peeking out the windows at the scenery when there were no enemies in the bus to shoot.

I can appreciate the arcade approach to it, and I can see how - if done wrong - it'd make the gameplay less defined in terms of what objects you can and can't stick to. Uncharted proved that you can easily make a more dynamic looking world and use the base principles of Gears though, so I hardly view it as a valid excuse anymore.

There's that, and then I was really looking forward to more dynamic gameplay overall too. Gears was FANTASTIC, don't get me wrong. It had gameplay that really did strip my reservations about the crap character/world design of any kind of relevance, but it was super one note. Whenever they did things to alter gameplay it was like.. changing to another song on a CD.. You could feel the last bits of gameplay end and the introduction of the new situation was ultra obvious. This is what I feel Halo haters don't get about Halo. It would seamlessly transistion between all of its different components, and it was utterly "analogue" in how you needed to approach different mixups of enemies.

Gears didn't have this at all. Boomer time, Krill time, and most of the time standard Locust soldier time.

If they had stuck a boomer in there with the normal soldiers.. or GOD FORBID a brumak or those spider thingies, the gameplay would've gone to hell. Gears in its current state *just can't mix up its encounters* because the different "modes" it has to be in don't mesh.

This means that we get these kinds of on rails things whenever we're shooting at something significantly different and I really hoped that they'd expand the gameplay to be able to offer more epic and surprising battles. Dropships releasing boomers while soldiers storm you and things like that.

So yeah, I am disappointed.. but not greatly so since it seemed a bit early to release a sequel that was going to take significant strides.

I will play it though, I just think it's a bit of a missed opportunity especially seeing as Halo is out of the equation now. This will never be able to fill its void.

I couldn't believe there was 5 pages on that news item. I read one and gave up.

This does look really good and if people were expecting a large graphical jump, well, that is just silly. I'm glad they are adding more gameplay mechanics rather than just a fresh coat of paint and some new locations. Did anyone else notice they had changed the sound effects for the lancer as well? It sounds more intense now. Hopefully they will release some info about multiplayer soon.
