Too Human at Gamespot
http://www.gamespot.com/video/928546/6186635/too-h...

Dyack talks about it and some other dude playing it, kind of like On the Spot but only for Too Human.

Really want it!

One of the attacks were Baldur runs down the stairs and starts attacking in various moves on one robot and then ends with a backflip and a slash right down, that was awesome.

It depends on how upgraded your character is, and how well the player is to control the attacks with the analog.

If you are very very good, the animation, attack combos will look great, not like the ones in the past.

So basically you can't just keep rotating and tapping the attack analog and just do random attacks, it will look bad and clunky.

God I want a demo of this stage :D

Nice vid, the RPG upgrade screens look deep and awesome, cant wait to tweak my character into a human based killing machine, and the way the cinematics are intergrated into the action is great, i'm glad they are also concentrating on the narritive as an amazing story will top it al off.

Hopefully with a couple weeks of development left, they will fix the choking framerate in some cutscenes. It'll be bad if they won't fix that, it'll take away from the game's cinematic presentation. I don't like diablo and similar games, but I'd like to play TH for (hopefully) well developed story.

Before I tell you about how positive the latest showing of Too Human was, it's important to first point out the negatives for reference. Two years ago I wrote off Too Human as just another action RPG, but with the worst camera system known to three-dimensional gaming. The unintelligent camera angles were so troublesome the game was inconveniently unplayable. This was at E3 2006 when I saw Too Human playable for the first time on the showroom floor.

The New and Improved Too Human
The new Too Human camera system features multiple camera modes to choose from. This allows the player to select from a variety of different camera angles that best suits the action onscreen. For example, the Iso camera mode is catered towards players who prefer the overhead isometric view of games like Diablo and Baldur's Gate. The Close camera mode gives players a view more akin to God of War. All in all, Silicon Knights founder Dennis Dyack said Too Human has six or seven different camera modes at any given time. Thank the Nordic gods.

The combat control scheme in Too Human is unlike any other action RPG. The right-analog stick controls Baldur's primary hack-n-slash attack, which depending on your character class Baldur wields a sword and shield, dual swords, hammer, or mace. And no matter which class you choose from, Baldur always carries a pair of pistols. Pistols are fired with the right trigger and can be aimed at two separate enemies.

There are five character classes to choose from. The Champion is the standard character class well versed in combat, defense, and magics. The Berserker class leans more towards players who like to smash things, the Defender class plays like a traditional RPG tank class, so on and so forth.

So it's like Diablo, right? Pretty close. The player level caps at 50, and unfortunately Silicon Knights aren't ready to show any end game content beside epic armor sets. During the demo, Dyack loaded up a level 50 Defender class equipped with a complete armor set, which besides looking badass offer bonuses for equipping a certain number of high-end armor set pieces like Diablo and World of Warcraft.

Technically Proficient
Too Human runs at a consistent framerate in 720p with 4x anti-aliasing and up to 50 enemies onscreen. That's quite the technical feat considering all the issues developer Silicon Knights has been having with Epic and the Unreal Engine 3.0. See lawsuit.

There is only one load time in Too Human and that is at the beginning of the game. The no-loading touch should be considered standard at this point, but it's especially impressive for Too Human considering the massive amount of content and abrupt environment changes, which ties into the rich, futuristic Nordic story.

There is no need to worry about inventory micro-management in Too Human. Auto-salvage is an inventory feature catered towards console users, which intelligently salvages your low-class items when your inventory becomes overburdened. Of course this feature can be turned off or on depending on your style of play.

Baldur can enter the Matrix. Well, Cyberspace Dennis Dyack called it. Cyberspace is a simulated version of what the world would be like without any artificial intelligence or world wars. Witches who serve as oracles to the human race inhabit Cyberspace. They offer worldly knowledge and useful items that aid Baldur in his quest.

I know it's crazy to say, but Too Human is the new Diablo. Well, at least until Blizzard shows us Diablo III, which who knows when that could be. Although Too Human is set in an entirely different universe with numerous cutscenes overlapping the gameplay, the actual core fundamentals are exactly the same, and it looks beautiful. Show us more Silicon Knights! You can't keep that "Online Play" menu option secret for too long.

Well, that may be because there are many 360 games that don't actually run in 720p.

I think it's probably more common than people realize. There are some big titles that don't run at 720p. Not that it matters much, I think Halo 3 looks pretty good, and PGR3 looked fantastic.

I saw the list of game that run sub720p on 360 and there were like a dozen of them? It's not that many considering how many games have been released to date. Besides, it's not like it's the problem only with 360, PS3 has sub720p games as well and Wii has sub480p games (Mario Galaxy for example). No that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but Dyack saying full 720p in every presentation/interview is hillarious.

Definitely. I loved getting all of the different garages in PGR3. I don't own PGR4 yet, but from what I've played I'm not sure I like the new career interface--how you purchase vehicles, how you progress through events, etc--but it's still pretty.

But anyhow, I think there's a handful of games that are sub-720p on both platforms. I've also heard of devs on the PS3 "cheating" their way up to 1080p too (by claiming 1280x1080 == 1080p) by using strange resolutions. So really, there's no need to go into defense mode for the Xbox 360, no one is starting a console-wars argument here so you can chill out.

Every UE3 game is 720p on 360 so far as I know--but none of them have 4XAA--so that's one modification that will make TH stand out a little. And there may only be a dozen or so sub-720p games but many of them are high profile titles, and Dyack is attempting to include himself and his game in that company.

this game annoys me. some times i want it. sometimes i wouldnt touch it with a 10 ft bargepole. in cutscenes and in still shots i like it, good artstyle, it should have a good story, great visuals, customisation seems top notch, but then you see the combat which will make up a pretty big chunk of the game and you die a little inside. i realise it isnt ment to be like god of war or devil may cry, but i sure wish it looked as fluid.

if the games animation doesnt vastly improve im not sure if i could enjoy the game. it almost looks like someones taken ps1 animation cycles and thrown them into a visually next gen game. very strange and very jarring. lets hope the game is even close to being worth the wait. somehow i doubt it'd going to top mass effect. but we'll see.

Lets clear this up, Mass Effect is a true single player RPG with Action elements, IE: Deep Character customization Branching conversation tree's that you guide, and important choices that you make which change the story ect..

Whereas Too Human has none of the above.. its rpg elements are in the form of skill tree and armor/weapon customization, Dennis describes it as a hybrid of WOW/DIABLO and GOW, the story will be deep but you are just a passenger along for the ride storywise, and the combat is more than good enough to keep anyone slightly interested in this type of enjoying it to the end, the number of different combat attacks and weapons are amazing, in fact when playing coop i Guarantee that everyone will have an attack move or weapon that others playing alongside wont.

No other player will look the same, play the same.

But I wouldnt say Mass Effect has deep character customization though, it was alot, but still limited at some parts.

Too Human has tons of more customization in the weapons, armor department that its just crazy, not only that but also through DLC there will be more.

You can't compare Mass Effect to Too Human, the gameplay is way different.

Besides, I don't think Dyack want to "top" Mass Effect because its a different type game.

I would like to say Too Human is more like Hellgate: London, aside from the first person view in that game and heavy weapon customization.
