The other thread we had going has floated off into oblivion, and with no apparent search function I just can't find it. Hopefully this'll stick around better, at least until there's a search function again.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting is this:

It's like.. it's Sims, but it's better by just being on the Wii!

I hate sim games.

This actually looks like someone threw up a pizza. :S

*sighs* the Wii should have at least tried for 720p, even if it couldn't keep up with the other 2, 720 would have made a huge difference.

As long as they're widescreen and 480p they look fantastic. I've had a go with Monkey Ball and it looks great in HD.

I thought you said there wasn't much notable difference between 480 and 720 Jolli :p

Anyway most a anticipated titles for are:

Yoshi's Island DS, and Mario Galaxy for Wii.
Never really had time for the Sims . I'm also finding myself being strangely drawn to Avatar on the Wii.

Take one 360, add some chopped PS3, stir in some Wii, a sprinkling of DS Lite. Enjoy :)

Never played the Sims games and I wont. I just hate the whole concept.

Unfortunately what the Wii has going for it right now is only Zelda which will also be available on the GC so until something nice shows up, I wont consider a Wii. Animal crossing and Final Fantasy III though makes me want to get a DS.

Seeing and playing Final Fantasy 3 on my cousins newly bought ds lite yesterday reminds me that when you have a good game graphics are of absolutely no concern. I had the most fun I've had in a long time and I could care less about the graphics. As far as I was concerned the graphics were incredible because I was enjoying the game.

I see why the ds is in such high demand. The ds just feels like this really cool must have technology feel. I'm definitely buying a Nintendo DS. Whats more the intro to final fantasy 3 on the ds truly surprised the hell out of me and I had absolutely no idea how small the game cartridges were... its such a well built device I love it.

According to a lot of my friends the wii has more going for it than just zelda. You guys wont believe it, but all my friends are going crazy over the wii dbz game. Saying the wii controller makes the game more fun than they could've expected. It makes everything feel more skillbased as opposed to button mashing and you can do all the transformations even fusion its awesome.

Well I'll happily sign the dotted not-much-difference line, except for edges. It's really just the edges of models that really get right fucked in lower resolutions, but good anti-aliasing and filtering techniques still make them look really good. Mario Smash Football on Gamecube looks great in 480p/widescreen.

EDIT: This all provided you're playing on an HDTV that is. Between SD and HD tellies there's a world of difference.

Of course it depends what the game employs in terms of visuals to make it look good, but I never was much for itty bitty won't-see-'em-unless-you-look details anyway. For me it's all about the overall impression, and I still think Sands of Time and Metroid Prime are the best looking games I've played recently.

Well there is a difference but not a huge one.

What i meant is playing a 360 game on a SD tv isn't much of step down. (Downscaled 720p looks pretty good)

720p just makes things clearer and more crisp :), doesn't really change anything else. (well except for tiny text)

You have to see the right games Jolli :)

There are some games that look downright terrible on standard def. They could pass for current gen games, but good thing for you and me we don't buy those types of games anyway =P Its usually the need for speed carbons etc.

and that's it right there the point of Nintendo from the Wii ... expanding the market so expect a lot of cute games which unfortunately wont appeal in a million years to a mature gamer ... but hey they wanted this then So be it!

If by mature you mean someone who only wants gritty, bloody, dark and realistic games then okay, sure, I agree.

If by mature you mean a gamer in the 18-30 demographic then you're just partially right. I'm 23 years old, and I want to play fun games. I want to be excited about playing games, not because the story pulls me in whatever direction or because "woo, this really feels like firing a gun!", but because it's fun to play.

The 360 has seen a brilliant year with incredible productions coming out with dazzling HD-quality graphics and immersive sound, yet Elite Beat Agents is by far the best game I've played this year. What does that make me? Or perhaps a better question; am I alone in feeling this way?

When Nintendo talk about ex gamers bored with gaming they're talking about what I feel like I'm becoming. They're creating a different climate with the Wii, more akin to the DS, where fun ideas slip ahead of any graphics-powered genre-of-the-month blockbuster hype-fest. It's not about cute games, it's about different games altogether, regardless of appearance.

Perhaps my point came across as being a negative thing which I didnt intend. I wanted to refer to the fact that **most**gamers amongst the mature demographic (that's the 18 and over) tend not to like this sort of cute kind of games that nintendo seem to be going for quite a lot frankly. I am 22 years old and I dont mind it either (refer to my previous post where I said Animal Crossing really makes me want to get a DS) but it seems to me they are overdoing it a little bit. Sure, they want to attract a new market to their console but they should also be thinking about those who do not appreciate this style. what's the point of attracting a new market when in some way you are loosing a part of the existent one. I do not know what they have in store but judging by the way they are marketing their console, I have doubts.

Well it's clear you're not the only one simon, there have been quite a few post's around here lately with people bored of the current state of gaming.

You know how i always rant about hating western games blah blah.. :P

Well it's mainly because western games have this Hollywood approach to gaming, as the gaming industry has grown we have seen more film licenses, more violent games, more blood and guts, and f*** knows how many WW2 games because this is what adults like to see in films and games ....*supposedly*

There is also this need for everything to look realistic and apocalyptic, i think that stuff should be left in tech demo's :P

Whats the point of having a super duper GPU if you only use 1 millionth of the colour.

It's probably a psychological thing also, a lot of gamers wouldn't be caught dead playing a cute game like Idolmaster for example, no matter how fun it might be.

Do you remember Space Channel 5 by any chance ...? :)

Oh yes, Part 2 (which never saw a proper Dreamcast release here :() is fantastic. There's a double pack in the USA for PS2 that's dirt cheap if you want it. Space Channel 5: Special Edition it's called.

There have been some rumblings about a third game, apparently Sonic Team (consisting of former UGA members) want to do it. There's a part in Feel The Magic/Project Rub that consists of SC5 like mechanics, in fact. :)

SpaaAaaaaAce channel FIVE! *does the motion*

I have to say that the Wii's Arcade line up is going to be awesome.
With it's own and Sega's back catologue, plus others it's worth purchasing for that alone.
