This genre continues to get more attention and a couple of games out, or soon to be out, should be pretty good. InstantAction has their Legion game (as well as Rokkitball, ThinkTanks, and an upcoming WWI biplane style game) and is worth a look.

QuakeLive and BF Heroes should also be out soon. Anyhow, has anyone else been using InstantAction?

Noteworthy: Instant Action won't be 100% free. I was a little disappointed by Fallen Empires, I suppose the Tribes-like implications from the NeoGAF hype set my expectations pretty high. I'm in the QuakeLive beta too, and a little disappointed by what I see thus far.. I don't see how it's a better alternative than just finding a cheap (insanely cheap) copy of Q3A.

I just checked out this new free FPS, which is a bit like WarRock (which also means, it's not all that special, but it's fun and it's free), it's called Combat Arms. It's published/distributed by Nexus, the same people who run Maple Story. It's sort of neat, you earn XP in game, and can purchase weapons and customize them with add-ons. It's purely P2P, and the system of progression is a lot like WarRock's. Worth checking out if you're bored...

I adore Mythos. It's the best free game I've ever played, but it's incomplete and I'm worried what the future holds for it. Recently it's come to everyone's attention that Flagship Studios would be closing their doors, and that their Korean (?) publisher would be taking over Mythos. I assume they're going to try to finish the game and release it, but without the original staff I fear it will yield disastrous results.

Oh, and one more: DJ Max Online. I love this game too.. but it looks like it's been shut down :( :( :(

Good idea for a thread, lets keep it running. I think this qualifies as gaming discussion though.

You can't beat the cost of free gaming.

DJ Max Online seems really be dead now :( At least in the last months that I have tried to play, it always loads some error site.

Yeah this is good thread there is quite many good free games.

My addition to this thread is Trackmania Nations. As the name suggest it's a driving game with lots of different tracks. Can be easily get from Steam or some other sites for free of course. Just don't confuse this with Trackmania United which will cost.

One video of it with good driving: http://www.tm-tube.com/video/974/trackmania-nation...

Ps. I haven't used Instant Action. I might try the Quake live someday.
